Chapter 303 What's Wrong With Him?

Margaret sat next to William. After calmly thinking for five minutes, she had an idea.

Although this was a forest, it was still on the outskirts of the city, so there shouldn't be any dangerous wild animals. Besides, Margaret had a lot of survival knowledge, so it shouldn't be difficult for her to leave here alone.

But now that William was unconscious, she would never abandon him.

Therefore, to leave, she needed to make a raft.

This raft would be used to pull William. The ground here was moist enough to slide, and there were plenty of vines to use.

She immediately found many fallen branches around, each about the thickness of an adult's arm and long enough. She tied them together with vines, and they were strong enough to support William's weight.

While tying the raft, she realized how tough these vines were. No wonder they could hold their weight.

This reassured Margaret.

But she was worried that if she and William could be entangled by the vines and survive, then that lunatic Mia might also be fine.

Thinking of that crazy woman Mia, Margaret's eyes turned icy cold.

As long as Mia was alive, Margaret would never let her go once she got out!

Margaret collected her thoughts and focused on tying the raft.

Although the branches were thick enough, they varied in length. Margaret needed to trim them to a similar length. The only tool she had was a stone, but it was very blunt. She spent most of her time sharpening the stone, which caused her fingers to get injured from scraping against the stone and branches.

Sweat beaded on Margaret's forehead as she gritted her teeth and persevered.

If William could risk his life for her, and so was she.

After about an hour, with all ten fingers bleeding, Margaret finally finished the raft.

She used all her strength to lift William onto the raft and then tied him securely with vines.

This way, when Margaret dragged the raft, he wouldn't roll off due to the movement.

After everything was ready, Margaret went to a spot where she could barely see the sky and estimated the time. There were about three to four hours left before dark. The sky showed some evening glow, helping Margaret determine the direction.

Margaret calculated that if she was lucky, she could get William out of the forest by nightfall.

But if she was unlucky, the consequences would be dire.

Margaret tied one end of the vine around her waist and began to walk in the direction she had set.

However, Margaret underestimated the combined weight of the raft and William. It was really hard to drag.

But Margaret bit her lip hard, even drawing blood, and persisted.

With sheer willpower, Margaret moved step by step.

At some point, Margaret's vision blurred, and she couldn't see clearly. It was already completely dark.

Margaret was losing strength. The shoes she wore when she fell off the cliff were long gone.

She was barefoot, and her feet were numb from being worn out.

The lack of strength, blurred vision, and extreme thirst were all torturing Margaret.

She gritted her teeth and kept going.

Suddenly, she tripped over a stone and fell to the ground.

Lying on the ground, Margaret looked at the unconscious, pale William on the raft and felt a despair she had never experienced before.

Margaret gently licked her dry, cracked lips and struggled to get up.

She told herself she had to keep going!

Shakily, Margaret stood up and continued dragging the raft forward.

Every step was so difficult.

Margaret felt extremely tired.

In a daze, Margaret seemed to hear someone calling her and William's names.

She thought, 'Is this a hallucination? Could someone really be coming to save us at this time?'

Margaret's vision went black, and she lost consciousness.

At Hospital, the sound of the heart monitor gradually reached Margaret's ears as she slowly regained consciousness and woke up.

Opening her eyes, she saw Juniper's worried face. "Margaret, you're finally awake. I was so worried about you!"

"Am I not dead?" Margaret hesitated, confused.

"No!" Juniper shook her head in excitement.

"Where's William?" Margaret looked around and asked.

"He's already awake," Juniper's eyes flickered, and she continued, "Do you know, when I saw you and William fall off the cliff, I was so scared my heart almost stopped!"

Recalling the scene, Juniper was still terrified.

"I'm sorry, Margaret. It's my fault," Juniper said guiltily.

If Mia hadn't kidnapped her to threaten Margaret, Margaret and William wouldn't have fallen off the cliff.

Margaret shook her head. "No, it's my fault. Mia's target was me. If it weren't for me, Mia wouldn't have gone crazy and kidnapped you."

"Mia is a complete lunatic!" Juniper sighed. "Luckily, you two were fortunate. The vines below caught you, and you didn't die. You even managed to save yourself and carry William for a while before the rescue team found you."

So that was what happened.

She was indeed lucky.

Thinking back, Margaret felt a lingering fear.

"I've never seen a man love a woman so selflessly, willing to risk his life. Margaret, William is truly an amazing man. He would give everything for you, including his life." Margaret lowered her eyes and listened silently to Juniper.

She had already decided that since she survived, she would accept William's pursuit and return to his side.

Margaret had made up her mind from the moment she opened her eyes at the bottom of the cliff.

"Where is he?"

Juniper knew she was asking about William and hesitated. "He..."

Seeing Juniper's hesitation, Margaret anxiously asked, "What's wrong with him?"

Margaret felt a bad premonition from Juniper's expression.

But Juniper just said he was awake.

Juniper's eyes flickered, and she said, "He's alive, but his condition isn't good. I can't explain it well. You should see him yourself. He woke up before you and has been alone in his ward, not letting anyone disturb him."

Margaret felt a surge of doubt.
