Chapter 378 Miscalculation
Angel was quite attractive, and now she looked so pitiful that it was hard for any man to resist her. Back when she sang at the bar, many men were already interested in her.
She didn't believe that now, with her throwing herself at him, William could still hold back.
William pressed his lips together and looked at Angel quietly for a moment. Finally, he calmed himself down, nodded, and agreed. "Alright, just lie down and rest, okay? I won't leave."
Angel nodded, her delicate face still streaked with tears, looking somewhat lost. She slowly lay down but continued to hold William's hand, her gaze glued to his face like superglue.
William thought of Margaret's words and their plan. Even though he didn't want to deal with her, he had to sit by Angel's side and chat with her intermittently.
It wasn't until he saw her close her eyes and heard her even breathing, indicating she was asleep, that William breathed a sigh of relief and turned to leave.
He had already instructed Peter to prepare for the North Bay land deal. Spending $300 million on a piece of wasteland out of nowhere, Jack might say he didn't care, but he must be eager to get rid of it.
Several days had passed, and if there were no issues, Peter should have already taken care of it.
It seemed Jack's plan was going to fail this time.
The next morning, as soon as William arrived at his office and before he could even open the files on his computer, Peter knocked on the door and walked in with a tablet. "Mr. Fisher."
"What is it?" William minimized the webpage and looked up at Peter.
Peter stepped forward and handed the tablet to William, showing the plans for their new project in North Bay.
"I've completed the task you assigned me. After BPL learned about the chemical park, they were eager to get rid of North Bay. I contacted BPL's project manager through a familiar intermediary company and repurchased it for $60 million. Now, we can start the new project anytime you say the word."
William swiped his finger across the screen, looking at the architectural blueprints, and smiled with satisfaction. "You did a great job. Jack didn't suspect anything, did he?"
Peter also smiled knowingly and shook his head. "No, the intermediary company didn't mention us. Besides, Jack is probably in a hurry to get rid of North Bay and wouldn't care about such details."
William nodded, carefully examining the blueprints. The company had already decided in a previous meeting to build a large amusement park in North Bay. The land was spacious and strategically located. With the right investment and promotion, it would surely attract many people.
In this game, they were the ultimate winners.
William handed the tablet back to Peter. "You did a great job. Now, you can start preparing for the construction of the amusement park."
Peter nodded and was about to leave when he paused and turned back, puzzled. "Mr. Fisher, but the government still plans to build an industrial park."
William shook his head. "Don't worry about that. I've already taken care of it. Just focus on the amusement park."
After Peter left the office, William sat back in his leather chair and smiled.
As for the industrial park, it was no problem for him. In a place as big as Ravenford, relocating the industrial park was a piece of cake.
At BPL, Jack stood by the floor-to-ceiling window, holding a glass of red wine, which swirled gently in the glass, casting a faint red hue.
There was no trace of a smile in his eyes, and his left cheek was noticeably sunken from clenching his teeth.
He hadn't expected that competing with the Fisher Group and spending $300 million to snatch North Bay from William, hoping to make a fortune by building a residential area, would be thwarted by the government's plan to build an industrial park there.
Now, the $300 million was down the drain. It was really ridiculous.
Although he had been swindled by an intermediary company and ended up with only $60 million, which was a drop in the bucket compared to what he had spent, at least he had managed to sell it and avoid further frustration.
More importantly, William didn't get it either.
He lost this round, but William didn't win either, which was just fine.
Jack took a sip of red wine, his reflection faintly visible in the floor-to-ceiling window.
Another three or four days passed, "Something's wrong!" The assistant rushed in, and Jack frowned, raising his hand to calm him down. "Why are you in such a hurry? Speak slowly."
The assistant took a moment to catch his breath and then hurriedly said, "Mr. Phillips Haven't you seen today's news? The government announced that due to North Bay's prime location, they have decided to relocate the industrial park."
Jack's brows furrowed tightly, and he looked at the assistant in disbelief. "What?"
Seeing the assistant's expression, Jack suddenly felt a sense of panic. He opened a webpage and saw the news about the government's decision to relocate the industrial park on the homepage.
Jack's heart sank, and he clenched the mouse tightly, as if he wanted to crush it.
If that was the case, he had just sold North Bay and would suffer a huge loss.
Jack suddenly thought of William and searched for a video online.
#North Bay Amusement Park! The Fisher Group's Grand Plan!#
Seeing the headline, Jack's pupils contracted, and he had a bad feeling. He clicked on the video and saw William standing on the stage at a press conference, with a banner behind him that read: [North Bay Amusement Park Plan.]
He couldn't help but thought, 'How could this be? Isn't that land sold to an intermediary company? The company has said a small business wants to build a factory there but doesn't have the budget.'
All these connections flashed through Jack's mind.
He suddenly understood everything. The so-called "small business" never existed, and even the intermediary company was found by the Fisher Group to buy back North Bay from him.
As for the government, it was no problem for William.
Realizing all this, Jack looked at the confident smile on William's face on the screen and felt a growing anger. He clenched his right fist tightly, his eyes filled with a fierce look. 'William, we'll see about that!'
