Chapter 155 Margaret, Marry Me
The kiss was lingering but had this bossy vibe that made Margaret's face go red in a flash.
His hot breath mixed with hers, and his warm, thin lips were glued to hers. The whole mutual affection thing had Margaret's breathing all over the place.
The living room was heating up, like, literally. Margaret's eyes started to get all dreamy. In her daze, she heard William's deep, husky voice. "Margaret, let's get hitched."
Margaret snapped back to reality. "Wait, what did you just say?"
William's gaze got even more intense, his thin lips curling into a soft smile as he said, "Margaret, marry me!"
Margaret went silent. She had agreed to be with William, but marriage? That was a whole different ball game.
They'd only known each other for a bit over a month. Sure, they'd been through some crazy stuff together, but marriage? That seemed way too fast! Plus, she had a ton of stuff to do; how could she think about getting married so soon?
"William, you're drunk. Stop talking nonsense." Margaret put her hand over William's lips to shut him up.
William just chuckled.
The next morning, when Margaret woke up, William had whipped up a killer breakfast for her. "Check it out, do you like it?" William pulled out a chair for Margaret and helped her sit down.
Looking at the mouth-watering breakfast in front of her, Margaret felt all warm and fuzzy inside. "Did you make all this?"
"Yep," William said casually, "If you like it, I'll make it for you every day from now on."
Looking up at the classy and noble guy in front of her, Margaret's heart skipped a beat. Even someone as high and mighty as William had a soft side. If she really married him, she'd probably be super happy, right?
"What are you thinking about?" William noticed Margaret spacing out and waved his hand in front of her.
Margaret snapped back. "Oh, nothing. Just trying to decide which of these yummy things to eat first."
"Try the fried egg, your fave," William put a fried egg on Margaret's plate, his eyes scanning her face as he asked, "Have you thought about my proposal from last night?"
Margaret's hand holding the fork froze. "Is this your way of proposing to me?"
William raised an eyebrow. "You could say that."
"It's not romantic at all." Margaret was a bit speechless. "Besides, we just met. It's way too early to talk about marriage."
Not romantic? William caught that part.
Yeah, it was kinda casual, but he had zero experience in this.
William didn't bring it up again, and Margaret let out a sigh of relief.
All day, William was stuck on how to pop the question in a romantic way, so much so that he was kinda out of it during a meeting with the company's big shots. Finally, when the meeting wrapped up, Peter followed William to the CEO's office. "Mr. Fisher, something on your mind?"
William sat down, crossing his legs all casual, and asked out of nowhere, "Do women dig romance?"
Peter was stunned for a sec. He thought William was worried about Bradley's health, but nope, William hit him with this curveball.
"I guess so," Peter nodded.
William pursed his thin lips and gave Peter a light glance. "So, how do you propose in a romantic way?"
Peter was caught off guard, then it clicked. 'Oh, Mr. Fisher's planning to pop the question to Ms. Scott.'
But how would he know what counted as a romantic proposal? Peter groaned, "Mr. Fisher, I'm still single. This isn't really my area of expertise!"
"Alright, you can go now," William said, loosening his tie impatiently. Looked like he had to figure this out on his own.
Two days later, Margaret had been swamped all day and was about to clock out when she got a call from William.
"Done for the day? Let's head out together," William's clear voice came through the phone.
"Sure," Margaret agreed right away.
After hanging up, she headed to the underground garage and spotted William's tall, upright figure leaning against his car, hands in his pockets. Under the dim light, he looked as handsome and composed as a god.
"Margaret," William straightened up when he saw her, taking long strides toward her.
Margaret smiled. "Let's roll."
Once in the car, Margaret noticed they weren't heading towards Water Moon Estate. She was a bit puzzled. "Aren't we going home?"
William gripped the steering wheel, smiling. "I'm taking you somewhere special."
"Where?" Margaret asked, curious.
William turned to look at her deeply. "You'll see when we get there."
'Alright, keeping it all mysterious,' Margaret thought, deciding not to press further. She'd find out soon enough.
About half an hour later, William stopped the car. "We're here."
Margaret looked ahead and saw they were at the beach. The vast ocean was calm, the blue water shimmering, and the cool sea breeze blowing through her hair, giving a refreshing feeling.
But why the beach?
Margaret frowned slightly. "William, why'd you bring me here?"
"This is my yacht," William pointed to a luxurious yacht docked by the sea, smiling slightly.
Margaret was speechless. 'Is William really in the mood to take me out to sea at this hour?'
Honestly, ever since that incident at sea, Margaret wasn't too fond of the ocean.
Before she could say anything, William took her hand and led her onto the yacht.
"Come with me, I had a candlelight dinner set up," William said, holding her hand and leading her towards the dining area.
When they reached the dining area, Margaret noticed the walls were covered with flowers of various colors. "Why so many flowers?" Margaret asked in surprise, looking at the bouquets hanging on the walls.
William led her to the center of the dining area, where a luxurious and exquisite table was set. On the table, there was a bouquet of roses.
William handed the roses to Margaret, his deep gaze softening. "For you. Do you like them?"
Margaret took the flowers, confused, and looked down. Inside the flower petals was a piece of paper with a message: [Margaret, marry me!]
The handwriting was strong and powerful, and Margaret recognized it as William's.
