Chapter 428 Emotions Are a Complex Thing
Seraphina nodded, her cheeks turning a bit pink.
She had been getting ready for bed when her agent called, saying Lyle had gotten hurt while filming and might not make it to the set tomorrow. Seraphina would have to shoot scenes with other actors instead.
Seraphina felt a wave of concern. "Is Lyle okay?"
Her agent's voice crackled through the phone. "I don't know for sure, but it doesn't seem too serious."
"Alright, got it."
Hanging up, Seraphina's worry for Lyle only grew.
Why was he filming so late, and how did he end up in the hospital?
Images of Lyle's handsome, slightly melancholic face filled her mind. Unable to hold back, she headed straight to the hospital to check on him.
As she walked down the corridor, she spotted Margaret and William.
"You should go see him. We're heading out," Margaret said with a smile, pulling William along.
She glanced at William. "Don't you think Seraphina and Lyle make a good pair?"
"What?" William smirked.
Margaret mused, "It seems like Seraphina cares a lot about Lyle."
"Why do you say that?" William asked.
"Think about it. It's so late, and Seraphina still came to see Lyle. Doesn't that show she cares a lot about him?"
"Really?" William retorted, slightly annoyed. "Then you coming to see Lyle this late means you care about him too?"
Margaret was speechless.
Could this petty man ever have a pleasant conversation?
"It's different for me. I'm Lyle's boss. I'm concerned about my employee, which is not the same as Seraphina's concern," Margaret replied, exasperated.
William chuckled softly. "Just teasing you. Anyway, you should only care about me."
Margaret rolled her eyes. William was not only petty but also possessive.
Still, she liked Seraphina. She was beautiful, hardworking, and humble.
If she and Lyle ended up together, they would make a good match.
Seraphina knocked on the hospital room door. "Lyle, are you resting? Can I come in?"
"Come in," Lyle's deep voice responded.
Seraphina pushed the door open.
Lyle lay on the bed, looking downcast and pale.
Seraphina's heart tightened. "Lyle, are you alright?"
Lyle shook his head. "I'm fine. Why did you come?"
Seraphina bit her lip, her eyes full of concern. "I heard you got hurt, so I came to check on you."
"It's nothing, just a minor injury," Lyle smiled. "Did you come alone?"
Seraphina nodded.
"It's late. It's not safe for a girl to be out alone," Lyle said with a hint of concern.
Seraphina smiled. "It's fine. As long as you're okay, I can relax."
She paused, then added, "By the way, I saw Margaret earlier. She and Mr. Fisher were here to see you, too?"
Lyle's eyes dimmed at her words.
The image of William and Margaret together kept flashing in Lyle's mind.
He felt powerless. The woman he loved didn't love him back.
Seeing Lyle like this, Seraphina felt a pang of sadness.
She understood how he felt.
She liked Lyle, but Lyle liked Margaret.
Feelings were such complicated things.
The two sat in silence, the atmosphere growing awkward.
"Lyle, I'll head back now. Get some rest," Seraphina finally said.
As she turned to leave, Lyle called out, "Seraphina."
She stopped and looked back. "Yeah, Lyle? Is there something else?"
"I'll be at the set on time tomorrow. We don't need to change our scenes," Lyle said firmly.
"But your injury..." Seraphina was worried.
"I'm fine," Lyle insisted.
Early the next morning, Margaret returned to the hospital.
This time, she was there to see Samuel.
Juniper had been by Samuel's side for days.
Margaret knocked on the door. "Juniper, you in there?"
Juniper opened the door, her eyes red. "Margaret, you're here."
Margaret stepped inside, glancing at the still-unconscious Samuel. "How is he?"
Juniper's tears flowed. "He's still the same, no response."
"Let me take a look," Margaret said, frowning as she examined Samuel.
Juniper asked anxiously, "Margaret, how is he? When will he wake up?"
"His injuries are severe," Margaret said thoughtfully. "Especially his head. The impact was intense, which is why he's still unconscious."
"The doctors said the same," Juniper nodded, her voice full of worry. "What should we do? Can we get Pryce to look at him? Pryce might have a solution."
Margaret sighed. "I've already contacted Pryce. He's on his way."
"That's good. As long as Pryce comes, Samuel will be saved," Juniper said, relieved.
Margaret patted Juniper's shoulder. "Don't worry too much."
"How can I not worry? If it weren't for me, Samuel wouldn't be like this," Juniper said, full of guilt.
Margaret comforted her. "It's not your fault. Besides, you're pregnant. You need to rest."
"I want to stay with Samuel," Juniper said, looking at the unconscious Samuel with a complex expression.
She had always seen Samuel as a brother, never imagining anything more.
But that one time, they both got drunk, made a mistake, and now she was pregnant.
Seeing Samuel like this, she was heartbroken.
If she hadn't insisted on terminating the pregnancy, Samuel wouldn't have been distracted and had the accident, leaving him in a coma.
Margaret was about to persuade Juniper to rest when the door opened, and Dane and Dione walked in.
Seeing Juniper, Dione's face darkened. "Why are you still here?"
"I want to stay with Samuel," Juniper said, her face tired.
Dione glared at her. "You troublemaker, do you want to kill Samuel?"
