Chapter 147 Rescued
"Yo, Margaret, I'm over here!" William's voice echoed from a distance.
Margaret felt a wave of relief and quickly followed the sound.
"I told you to stay put, why are you wandering around?" Margaret's tone had a hint of scolding.
But William, somehow, had caught two little sparrows and, with a slight grin, said, "Sparrows might make a tasty snack."
"You went sparrow hunting? Why aren't you resting?" Margaret hurriedly supported William and grumbled, "You're still burning up."
"Are you worried about me?" William had just found some wild fruits in the woods and felt much better. Seeing Margaret so concerned about him, he couldn't help but feel delighted.
Margaret shot him a look. "Yes, and you should behave so I won't worry further. By the way, there's a cave over there where we can crash."
Margaret had spotted a small mountain with a cave on her way back, which should provide shelter from the wind and rain.
The two walked into the cave, which was warm inside.
"Chill here and don't wander off. I'll go find some herbs for you," Margaret instructed William and then carefully searched the mountain.
Half an hour later, Margaret finally found some herbs at the top of the mountain that could reduce fever and inflammation. When Margaret returned to the cave, a rich aroma greeted her.
Margaret sniffed. "Smells amazing!"
William's deep voice called out. "Come over and try some roasted sparrow."
Margaret looked closely and saw William holding a tree branch with several roasted sparrows on it, emitting a delicious aroma.
"Give it a shot." William handed the roasted sparrow to Margaret.
Margaret didn't take it. Instead, she carefully took out the herbs she had gathered and applied them to William's wound.
"How's that feel?" Margaret asked, looking up.
William reached out and hugged her. "I'm good."
The herbs Margaret had gathered were super effective. William's fever broke that night, and by the next day, he looked much better. Margaret's anxious heart finally calmed down. Guess her medical skills were still on point.
A few days later, William was almost back to his old self. With William no longer in danger, Margaret started thinking about other stuff. She glanced at the man beside her and asked, "William, don't you think our plane crash was kinda fishy?"
William narrowed his eyes slightly, his handsome face turning cold. Honestly, he had thought the same thing the moment the plane went down. His private jet was always in top shape, with regular check-ups. It shouldn't have just lost control like that. The only explanation was that someone had messed with the plane before takeoff.
But who? From the captain to the crew, they were all long-time employees of the Fisher family, always loyal. Plus, in this crash, their lives were also on the line. No one would risk their life for that.
He furrowed his brows. "Actually, I suspect my father's death back then wasn't an accident either."
"You think the same person who planned this also killed your dad?" Margaret's face turned serious. If that was the case, this person was seriously dangerous.
"Margaret, we gotta get back ASAP," William said, his voice all serious. News of their plane crash must've spread like wildfire by now. Who knew what kind of chaos was brewing out there? He had a bad feeling about it.
"Are you worried about the Fisher Group?" Margaret looked at him, his face all tense, and asked.
William nodded slightly. "Yeah."
"Actually, this might be a blessing in disguise." Margaret thought for a moment. "Whoever messed with your plane thinks you're dead now. They'll definitely make their next move. If we get back quick, we can catch them in the act!"
"You're right. We need to head back first." William agreed.
He thought for a moment, then went into the woods to gather a bunch of branches and brought them to the beach.
"Why are you collecting so many branches?" Margaret looked at the pile on the ground, puzzled.
"You'll see." William grinned and arranged the branches on the beach to spell out "SOS." "Hopefully, a plane or ship will spot it."
Margaret nodded.
They'd been stuck on the island for five or six days. During the day, Margaret and William would keep watch from the beach, hoping for a passing ship. But no luck, not a single ship showed up. She wondered if Xavier had gotten her distress signal.
Just when Margaret was starting to feel a bit down, a luxurious yacht appeared on the horizon.
"William, there's a ship coming!" Margaret's voice was full of joy. She pointed excitedly at the distant yacht. "We're saved!"
William followed her gaze and saw a super yacht heading their way. William took off his jacket and waved it like crazy with his big, strong hands. The folks on the yacht seemed to have spotted them and were heading their way.
Finally, someone was coming! They were saved! Margaret's heart pounded with excitement.
The yacht looked kinda familiar. As it got closer, Margaret finally saw clearly that it was Xavier's yacht!
Margaret happily hugged William's shoulders. "That's my grandpa's yacht!"
William hugged her tightly. "Your grandpa must've gotten your distress signal."
"Yeah," Margaret nodded eagerly, waving frantically at the yacht and shouting, "Grandpa! I'm here!"
Xavier stood on the deck, and upon seeing Margaret and William, he let out a long sigh of relief. 'Thank goodness, Margaret is safe.'
The yacht approached the island, and before it even stopped, Margaret pulled William and jumped aboard.
"Grandpa, I thought I'd never see you again!" Margaret's eyes welled up as she saw the kind and gentle Xavier.
"Margaret, it's good that you're safe." Xavier quickly supported her, looking her up and down to make sure she was okay.
Margaret's nose tingled, and she rubbed it. "Grandpa, I'm fine. Thanks to William, he saved me."
William stepped forward, holding Margaret's hand, and with a slight smile, respectfully called out, "Xavier."
Seeing their closeness, Xavier immediately got it. He stroked his beard and laughed heartily. "You two are finally together. Very good, very good!"
