Chapter 412 The Perilous Surgery

In the ambulance, Juniper clung tightly to Samuel's hand, only letting go when the nurse and doctor needed to perform emergency procedures. Otherwise, she stayed by his side, tears streaming down her face.

She was a mess, unable to imagine what she would do if Samuel didn't make it. She hadn't even had time to call Margaret.

When they finally arrived at the hospital, Juniper ran alongside the stretcher until she was stopped outside the operating room.

She was a wreck, pacing back and forth, her eyes filled with guilt. When the doctor came out, Juniper rushed forward, her voice trembling with worry.

"Doc, how's my friend? Is he gonna be okay?"

The doctor looked at Juniper seriously and said, "His condition is critical. He has extensive abrasions and is in a deep coma. We've already contacted his family. We need a family member to sign the consent form for surgery immediately."

"Please, save him! You have to save him!" Juniper pleaded, clutching the doctor's hand in desperation. It was only after the doctor assured her they would do their best that she slowly let go, staring helplessly at the closed operating room door.

Margaret's phone call came through again.

This was her third call to Juniper, and with no answer, Margaret was getting worried. She frowned, her anxiety growing. When she tried a third time, she finally heard Juniper's panicked, tearful voice.

"Margaret." Juniper's voice was choked with sobs.

"Juniper, why didn't you answer earlier?" Margaret had initially wanted to ask how things went with Samuel, but hearing Juniper's distressed voice, she immediately grew concerned and changed her tone.

"Where are you? What's wrong?"

Hearing this, Juniper couldn't hold back any longer. She broke down, sobbing uncontrollably. "Margaret, Samuel... Samuel was in a car accident. He's in the hospital. I don't know what to do."

"What?" Margaret was clearly shocked, her voice rising uncontrollably. She instinctively started heading out the door. She wanted to ask more, but Juniper's crying was heart-wrenching. She had no choice but to try and comfort her friend first.

"Don't cry. Tell me which hospital you're at. I'll be there right away!"

After giving Margaret the hospital address and hanging up, Juniper sat down on a bench in the hallway, burying her face in her hands as she cried.

Samuel, please be okay.

The sound of hurried footsteps echoed down the hallway. Juniper looked up to see a middle-aged couple rushing towards her, their faces filled with worry. The woman bore a resemblance to Samuel; she must be his mother, Dione Saunders.

"Doctor, doctor! How is my son? Is he going to be okay?" Dione ran up to the doctor, her breath coming in short gasps, her face etched with panic, on the verge of tears.

"You're finally here," the doctor said, handing them the consent form. "His injuries are severe. We need to operate immediately. Please sign the form quickly, or it might be too late."

"Yes, we'll sign it right away." Dane Hall quickly scribbled his name on the form, his hand trembling with urgency. After handing the form back to the doctor, the couple pleaded desperately.

"Doctor, please, you have to save our son. Please!"

The operating room doors closed again, the sign turning red to indicate no entry. Dione was beside herself with worry, her heart in her throat. She couldn't bear the thought of losing her beloved son; it would be a devastating blow.

Dane put a comforting arm around Dione's shoulders, though his eyes were also red with anxiety.

When they saw Juniper sitting nearby, looking dazed, their expressions changed. Dione, usually gentle and optimistic, rushed over and shoved Juniper.

"This is all your fault! I know you; you're the woman Samuel likes. If it weren't for you, this wouldn't have happened! Why are you still here? Get out!"

Juniper, pushed by Dione, didn't resist. She knew she was partly to blame for the accident. Tears streamed down her face as she kept apologizing.

"I'm sorry, I'm so sorry..."

Dane, mindful that they were in a hospital, quickly pulled Dione back, speaking in a low voice. "This is a hospital. Don't make a scene."

Though Dione stopped, she still glared at Juniper with anger. Dane, though silent, also looked grim.

He turned to Juniper, who was sobbing uncontrollably, and said in a stern voice, "Ms. Hayes, we've heard about you. We don't know what happened between you and Samuel, but he's in critical condition now. Please understand our feelings as his parents. If you have no other reason to be here, we would appreciate it if you left. We don't want to see you."

Juniper cried even harder, not knowing what to do.

Margaret arrived at the hospital in a rush. As soon as she reached the hallway outside the operating room, she saw Juniper. She hurried over, putting an arm around Juniper's shoulders, her face full of concern.

"What happened? How did Samuel get into a car accident? What's going on?"

Margaret glanced up and saw Dione and Dane sitting across from them, Dione wiping away tears and Dane silent. She bowed slightly and said politely, "Hello, I'm Samuel's boss and Juniper's friend. If there's anything you need to discuss, please talk to me."

Dione, consumed with worry for Samuel, barely glanced at Margaret before turning away.

Margaret pressed her lips together, feeling helpless. She could only guide Juniper to a seat and try to comfort her. "It's going to be okay. Samuel is strong. He'll pull through this."

After about three or four hours, the doctor finally emerged from the operating room.

Everyone rushed forward, but before they could speak, the doctor said, "The patient's condition is still critical. His injuries are severe, and he might not make it through the night. The family should prepare for the worst."

Juniper's eyes widened in shock. She couldn't accept this. Her mind went blank, and she felt herself swaying.
