Chapter 268 Framing and Blaming 1
Thinking about it, Mia whipped out her phone and shot a quick text to the staff member she'd bribed, a sneaky glint in her eyes.
Once the scene wrapped up, Mia bounced over to Margaret with a big grin.
"Ms. Scott, you and Lyle were on fire just now! Can you drop some acting wisdom on me?" Mia asked, looking all earnest. "Lyle says my role's a cakewalk, but I wanna up my game."
Margaret's eyes narrowed as she stared at Mia. She thought, ‘This chick's been a pain in my butt and even tried to mess me up behind the scenes. Now she's all buddy-buddy? What's her angle this time?'
"Sure thing," Margaret said, playing along. She was curious about Mia's game plan.
Chilling under a nearby tent, Margaret broke down the scene for Mia, who was all ears.
Skylar walked by and couldn't resist a jab, "Ms. Scott, giving acting lessons now?"
She thought Margaret was just a poser. Seeing her teach Mia was a joke.
Margaret shot Skylar a cool glance, slightly frowning. People like Skylar, who wore their emotions on their sleeve, were bound to crash and burn.
Just then, Wayne strolled over and asked politely, "Ms. Scott, Skylar, ready for the next scene?"
Margaret nodded. "Yep, let's roll!"
This scene was a showdown between Margaret and Skylar.
The queen found out Aimee was pregnant, but the baby wasn't the emperor's—it was Aimee's first love's. No way the queen was letting that baby be born, so she confronted Aimee in secret. During their spat, the queen would accidentally cut Aimee with a knife.
"The baby in your belly has to go. I won't let you have it!" Skylar nailed her line, shouting at Margaret.
Margaret clutched her belly, looking terrified, her voice shaking. "No way, even if I die, I won't let you hurt my baby!"
"Then die you shall!" Skylar, as the queen, stepped closer, suddenly whipping out a dagger and lunging at Margaret.
Skylar's head was full of jealousy towards Margaret. In that moment, she put all her strength into it, aiming the prop knife at Margaret.
Even though it was just a prop, Skylar was venting her real feelings. The knife gleamed coldly as it came at her, and Margaret's eyes turned icy.
Realizing something was off with the knife, Margaret dodged swiftly.
Aimee, the character Margaret played, was supposed to be too scared to move. But she dodged.
This wasn't in the script, and Skylar immediately broke character, glaring at Margaret. "Ms. Scott, why didn't you stick to the script?"
"If I had, I might've actually ended up dead," Margaret said, stepping back, her eyes narrowing.
Skylar frowned. "What are you talking about?"
The crew was just as confused, all eyes on Margaret.
Margaret didn't mince words, pointing at the knife in Skylar's hand. "That's a real knife with a sharpened edge!"
"What?" Everyone gasped, staring at Margaret in shock.
"A real knife?" Skylar looked down at the blade in disbelief.
Margaret nodded. "Yep."
She pointed to her arm. Even though she dodged, the blade had grazed her. Blood was slowly seeping out.
"Oh my God, Ms. Scott is bleeding!"
"How did this happen?"
"It was supposed to be a prop knife. How did it turn into a real one?"
The crew started buzzing.
"Margaret, are you okay?" Lyle, who was backstage, rushed over, looking worried.
Margaret shook her head. "Just a scratch." Luckily, she dodged in time, so the cut wasn't deep.
"Skylar, what's going on?" Lyle's eyes bore into Skylar.
Skylar trembled, her grip loosening, and the knife clattered to the ground.
Lyle moved to pick it up, but Margaret stopped him. "Don't touch it. That knife is evidence."
Lyle nodded, getting the hint.
Margaret looked around and said, "Everyone saw it. This was supposed to be a prop knife, but it's real. Someone switched it to hurt me. And that person is here right now."
Everyone exchanged glances, then turned to Skylar. After all, Skylar was the one holding the knife.
Skylar was stunned and quickly said, "It's not my fault! I don't know how the prop knife turned real!"
"How is it not your fault? You almost hurt Ms. Scott!" Mia, who had been watching, stepped forward, pointing at Skylar.
Mia knew the scene's details and had someone switch the prop knife, planning to use Skylar to kill Margaret and then frame her.
Everything was set up perfectly. She had failed to harm Margaret before, but this time was supposed to be foolproof. But Margaret dodged.
Mia was burning with jealousy, thinking Margaret was too lucky. Since Margaret didn't die, Mia decided to pin it on Skylar.
Skylar, hearing Mia's accusation, snapped, "Mia, are you trying to frame me?"
"Frame you?" Mia smirked, then turned to Margaret. "Ms. Scott, we all saw it. Skylar used the knife to hurt you. Why not call the cops and have her arrested?"
"Really? You're so sure it was Skylar?" Margaret smiled mockingly.
Mia was taken aback, unsure of what Margaret meant by that.
Skylar quickly grabbed Margaret. "Ms. Scott, believe me, it wasn't me!"
