Chapter 226 Everything Is Just Because I Love You Too Much
Angel's face twisted with rage as she gathered all her strength and lunged at Margaret. Right now, she was totally losing it, her only thought being that Margaret had to go!
The sharp knife shot straight towards Margaret, whose expression turned stone-cold. She swiftly kicked Angel to the ground. The fruit knife clattered to the floor.
At the same time, William rushed over to Margaret, looking worried. "Margaret, you good?"
He never saw it coming that Angel would suddenly try to stab Margaret.
"Angel, are you out of your mind?" William's cold, indifferent gaze fell on Angel, his tone dripping with disappointment. He couldn't wrap his head around why Angel would pull such a stunt.
He always thought their reunion was some kind of divine plan. Never in a million years did he think it was all Angel's doing. Nor did he ever imagine that Angel would team up with Ulysses, Jack, and the others to leak the Fisher Group's bid and frame Margaret.
One thing after another made it hard for William to swallow.
"Yeah, I'm crazy!" Angel looked up, her eyes bloodshot. "William, I did all this because I love you!"
Margaret's lips curled into a deeply sarcastic smile. "Angel, you love William, so you betray him?"
"It's you! Margaret, it's all because of you!!" Angel's glare at Margaret was like a dagger, wishing she could tear her apart. She threw herself at William's feet, sobbing uncontrollably. "William, I love you. When we were twelve and kidnapped together, I fell in love with you then!"
"To save you, I was willing to sacrifice myself because I love you! I was willing to trade my life for your chance to live." Angel clung to William's leg, tears streaming down her face. "But after searching for you for so many years, when I finally found you, what did I see? I saw you getting engaged to Margaret!"
"So, you schemed to ruin my engagement to William?" Margaret's cold, harsh voice suddenly rang out.
Angel's glare at Margaret was filled with intense jealousy. "Yes! William is mine! No one can take him away, not even you, Margaret! I wanted William to come back to me, to make our reunion special."
Before Angel could finish, Margaret cut her off, "William and I have already called off our engagement. Why did you still frame me for leaking the Fisher Group's bid?"
Margaret's eyes narrowed slightly as she coldly questioned, "Angel, what's your deal with Jack?"
"Nothing at all!" Angel's expression turned stern. "Margaret, I framed you because I hate you! It has nothing to do with anyone else! Clearly, William loves me, but you wouldn't give up on him! So I had to get rid of you! If you leaked the Fisher Group's bid, causing William significant losses, only then would William despise you, kick you out, and never want to see you again!"
"Oh, so that's how it is." Margaret laughed coldly. "Now it seems like you're the one who leaked the bid, so the person William should despise and kick out is you!"
"No way! William loves me; he won't hate me or kick me out! No matter what I've done, he still loves me!" Angel clung to William's leg, tears streaming down. "William, you won't, right?"
"Angel, I've told you before, my feelings for you are just gratitude, nothing more." William impatiently pulled his leg away, stepping back a few paces, his expression cold and his tone icy, each word plunging Angel into despair. "Angel, what you've done has deeply disappointed me!"
"No, that's impossible! William, you clearly love me!" Angel collapsed to the ground, screaming hoarsely, "Back then, when we were locked in that dark room, you told me yourself that you would marry me because I saved you!"
William frowned and said in a deep voice, "Those are things of the past. We've grown up now, and many things have changed."
"No! William, you can't go back on your word!" Angel suddenly rolled up her sleeve. "William, you should remember how I got this scar, right? Back then, Percival set his dog on us. You were terrified of dogs, and I shielded you and it bit me instead!"
As she spoke, she unbuttoned her shirt, revealing her back.
Angel's voice was hoarse. "And these scars on my body are from when I fell off the cliff to save you! William, I fell to distract those bad guys and save you! I've sacrificed so much for you. Do you really not remember? Do you really not love me at all?"
Seeing the scars on Angel's body, William's cold gaze flickered slightly. The past suddenly resurfaced in his mind.
Indeed, Angel had almost lost her life to save him back then. He owed Angel a lot.
Thinking of this, William's gaze deepened, and he spoke coldly, "Angel, I haven't forgotten what happened back then, and I will repay your kindness."
After a pause, William furrowed his brows and said expressionlessly, "So, I won't pursue today's matter any further."
"Not pursue it?" Margaret's eyes narrowed slightly, a hint of coldness in her gaze as she looked at William. "Angel betrayed the Fisher Group and leaked the bid, and you're just going to let it go?"
Facing Margaret's questioning, William's gaze turned colder, and he pondered, "Margaret, this is what I owe Angel."
Angel breathed a slight sigh of relief, a barely noticeable glint of darkness flashing in her eyes.
As expected, as long as she mentioned the past, William would let everything go. This meant that William still cared about her. But it wasn't enough! She had to turn the tables!
With this thought, Angel stood up, tearfully grabbing William's arm. "William, I don't want you to say you owe me; I want you to say you love me, that you'll marry me."
William impatiently interrupted Angel, "Angel, I've already told you, it's impossible for us."
"William, if you're so heartless, what's the point of me living?" Angel's eyes flashed with determination as she suddenly picked up the fruit knife from the ground and stabbed it towards her heart!
