Chapter 259 Unexpected Events 1
After taking a breather, Skylar finally got her head in the game.
After a bunch more takes, the scene barely made the cut. Next up, it was Margaret's turn.
This scene was a showdown between Margaret and Lyle.
It was pretty straightforward. Margaret played Aimee, who was still a sweet, innocent girl back then. She was swinging in a little grove when she bumped into the emperor, played by Lyle, who was on a secret mission.
The emperor just happened to wander into the grove and saw Aimee on the swing, falling head over heels for her right then and there.
"Ms. Scott, we can roll now," Wayne said with a grin, signaling Margaret to hop on the swing.
Margaret nodded. "Let's do this!"
She strolled over to the grove, plopped down on the swing, and the actor playing her friend started pushing her.
As soon as Margaret sat down, she felt something was off.
The swing was a quick setup by the crew, and the prop guys were supposed to double-check it, so there shouldn't be any issues. But now, Margaret could feel the swing swaying like crazy.
She furrowed her delicate brows a bit, and a thought flashed through her mind. 'Did someone mess with the swing?'
The actor pushing her from behind had no clue there was a problem and kept pushing harder. The swing went higher and higher.
When the swing hit its peak, the rope holding it suddenly gave way, and the whole swing came crashing down.
"The swing's rope snapped!" Everyone gasped in shock.
Falling from that height, a regular person would probably get seriously hurt.
Margaret calmly looked down, taking a deep breath, adjusting her posture, and braced for the fall.
"Margaret, watch out!" At that moment, a cold male voice suddenly rang out, full of tension and concern.
The next second, a tall and slender figure, like a hero swooping in, dashed over and caught Margaret just before she hit the ground.
Margaret squinted and saw a familiar handsome face come into view.
'William? When did he get here? Isn't he supposed to be back at the Fisher Group working? How did he show up so perfectly and catch me?' At that moment, Margaret was a bit stunned.
"Margaret, you okay?" William asked, holding her tight with his strong arms, full of concern.
Margaret shook her head. "I'm good."
After a pause, she asked, "Why are you here?"
William spoke in a low, deep voice, "I was worried about you."
People around them also gathered, asking with concern, "Ms. Scott, you alright?"
"I'm good." Margaret stood up and smiled.
"Margaret, you okay?" Lyle also ran over, out of breath.
When the swing fell, Lyle was outside the grove.
According to the script, he was supposed to wait a few minutes before accidentally wandering into the grove and bumping into Margaret on the swing. So, when the swing fell, he was far from her and showed up later than everyone else.
"Lyle, was the swing checked before? Why did it suddenly fall?" Margaret frowned at Lyle.
"Go check what's wrong with the swing," Lyle coldly instructed his assistant, Miguel Jimenez.
Miguel nodded respectfully. "Yes."
He went forward and carefully inspected the swing, then said, "The screws securing the swing's rope were loose, causing it to fall."
"Loose screws?" Margaret smiled coldly.
At the moment of the fall, the first thought that flashed through Margaret's mind was that someone had tampered with the swing. And the person who tampered with the swing was likely the same person who caused her allergic reaction at the opening ceremony.
Her previous suspicion was correct; this person wouldn't give up and would definitely try to harm her again. Sure enough, it didn't take long for them to act again.
"How could the screws come loose for no reason?" Margaret pursed her lips and looked at Lyle.
Lyle's face darkened, and he instructed Miguel, "Have someone thoroughly investigate this."
"Yes," Miguel respectfully replied.
"Margaret, don't worry, I'll have someone find out what happened," Lyle said to Margaret. He felt a wave of fear.
Fortunately, Margaret was fine now. If she had been injured, he would have felt guilty for the rest of his life.
After all, he was the one who helped Margaret get the role of Aimee. And just now, he couldn't run over in time to catch her, letting William take the lead instead.
Margaret nodded and was about to say something when a strong force suddenly hit her waist. William lifted her up.
"William, what are you doing?" Margaret scolded softly, "Put me down!"
William's face was cold. "You're injured. I'm taking you to the hospital for a check-up."
"I said I'm fine!" Margaret struggled. "Put me down, I still have to shoot."
She just had a light fall, and William had caught her. She was fine now, no need to go to the hospital.
Seeing Margaret say this, William's face turned even colder as he was worried about her.
Seeing William stubbornly trying to take Margaret away, Lyle stepped forward to stop him. "William, put Margaret down!"
"Go away," William said coldly, "Margaret fell from such a height, and you still want her to continue shooting?"
Lyle was momentarily speechless.
"Forget it. Lyle, you guys shoot other scenes first. I'll do my scenes tomorrow," Margaret said after thinking for a moment.
She didn't want these two men to argue over her. Even so, today's incident would likely make entertainment headlines soon.
William carried Margaret and directly put her in the car.
Seeing his gloomy face, Margaret said, "William, I'm really fine. You caught me just now."
"I have a problem, okay?" William raised his right hand and stretched it out in front of Margaret.
Only then did Margaret notice that William's hand was injured. It seemed that when she fell, she accidentally pressed on his hand, causing a large bruise.
