Chapter 298 Never Be Soft-Hearted Again
William drove the car and brought Margaret back to Water Moon Estate.
"Mr. Fisher, Ms. Scott, you're back," Isolde greeted them with a beaming smile.
Over the past few days, Margaret had been hospitalized due to an injury, and Isolde had noticed how worried and anxious William had been.
Especially during the two days when Margaret was in a coma, William had lost his appetite, and even the meals Isolde prepared for him with great care were tasteless to him.
Now that they were back together and Margaret was fine, life was finally getting better again.
Margaret returned to her room and was about to pack her things when William suddenly hugged her. "You've just recovered, go rest."
"But..." Before Margaret could finish her sentence, William lifted her off the ground.
He carefully placed her on the big bed. "Rest well, and don't move around."
"Alright," Margaret said, a bit speechless.
She had planned to look into the Parislia competition.
Now, she could only secretly research it when William went to work.
Margaret took out her phone and habitually started scrolling.
The first thing she saw was a news push notification:
[Police Swiftly Crack down on a Gang, Shutting down KTVs, Bars, Casinos, and other Gang-related Establishments]
The photo featured Leander.
Margaret glanced at William. "Was this your doing?"
"Of course." William raised an eyebrow.
Recalling that night, a dark look flashed in William's deep eyes. "I have told him before, anyone who dares to bully my woman is asking for trouble!"
Margaret rolled her eyes at him. "Who is your woman? Don't flatter yourself!"
William suddenly leaned closer to Margaret and chuckled. "You will be soon."
The sudden closeness made Margaret blush, and she quickly turned her face away.
Margaret looked at the time. "It's getting late, you should go to work."
"I'll stay with you," William said, still worried.
"I'm fine now. You haven't been to the office for days, go quickly!" Margaret pushed William out the door.
William's face darkened.
After all, he had just saved her and taken care of her in the hospital for so many days, but now she exactly kicked him out.
"Alright, I'm leaving. Call me if you need anything," William said in a deep voice.
Margaret nodded. "Got it!"
Seeing William finally leave, Margaret breathed a sigh of relief, opened her computer, and started looking at the information Juniper had sent her about the competition.
Margaret clicked on a video, which was an interview with Susan.
In the video, Susan was arrogant and condescending, with no shortage of derogatory remarks about Leo, seemingly very confident about the competition.
Margaret smiled mockingly.
This time, she decided to make Susan fail again!
After dinner, Margaret checked the time; it was time to go to the airport to pick up Juniper.
As she went downstairs, a familiar car stopped right in front of her.
The car door opened, and William stepped out.
"Margaret, get in the car!" William walked straight up to her and said.
Margaret was a bit surprised. "William, why are you here?"
William extended his well-defined hand, wrapped it around Margaret's slender waist, and led her into the car. He glanced at her. "Aren't you going to the airport to pick up Juniper? I'll take you."
Margaret pursed her lips. "I can go by myself."
William didn't say anything more, just reached over Margaret's chest to help her with the seatbelt.
Margaret also reached out to fasten her seatbelt at the same time.
Their hands touched.
Feeling the warmth of William's palm, Margaret blushed and quickly withdrew her hand.
Seeing the shy look on the woman beside him, William secretly smiled and helped her fasten the seatbelt.
The two remained silent as William drove to the airport.
"Get out," William said, glancing at Margaret.
Margaret checked the time; there was still half an hour before Juniper's flight arrived.
"I'm going to the restroom," Margaret told William.
"Okay," William responded indifferently.
For some reason, Margaret felt like someone was following her the whole way.
But when she turned around, she didn't notice anything unusual.
Margaret frowned slightly. It had been so many days, and Mia was still nowhere to be found.
Given Mia's previous craziness, she would definitely try to harm her again.
Margaret was waiting.
As soon as Mia appeared, she would bring her to justice.
This time, she would not be soft-hearted!
"What are you thinking about?" William couldn't help but ask when he saw the serious look on the Margaret's face.
Margaret snapped out of it and frowned. "I was thinking about where Mia has been these past few days and when she will come after me again."
"Margaret, don't worry. I'm here, and I'll protect you," William said, wrapping his arm around Margaret's shoulder, his deep voice resonating in her ear.
His voice gave Margaret an inexplicable sense of security.
At that moment, Juniper emerged from the arrival gate and immediately spotted the most striking pair in the crowd, William and Margaret.
"Hey, Margaret!" Juniper waved at her.
Margaret quickly pushed William away, keeping her distance from him.
Juniper winked at Margaret and teased, "Am I being a bit too much of a third wheel?"
"Don't talk nonsense," Margaret said, her expression slightly unnatural.
William smirked, a faint smile playing on his lips.
He drove Juniper to the hotel.
"Margaret, it's too late today. I'll come by tomorrow to discuss the competition," Juniper said with a smile.
Margaret nodded. "Alright."
The next day, the sky was overcast.
Margaret had sent William off to work early. "Juniper is coming today, you should go!"
William's face darkened.
"Margaret, are you that eager to get rid of me?" William's thin lips pressed together, showing his displeasure.
Margaret pushed him out the door. "I'm going to chat with my female friend. You're inappropriate here."
William left, expressionless, and headed to the Fisher Group.
However, Margaret waited for a long time, and Juniper still hadn't shown up.
'Could it be that she's still tired from the trip and hasn't woken up yet?' she thought.
