Chapter 416 Looking for Trouble
"Alright, alright, guys, they're just messing around. No big deal."
Angel smiled, effortlessly easing the tension with a few words.
She and William were set to have their engagement ceremony today, and the news was everywhere. Angel had become the media's darling, with reporters even tailing her to the salon. As soon as she finished her makeover, a reporter eagerly pushed through the door to interview her.
"Hi, Ms. Walsh. After your engagement ceremony with Mr. Fisher today, when do you plan to have the wedding? Some folks mentioned you used to sing at bars. How do you think your life will change once you become Mrs. Fisher?"
This reporter was clearly prepared and eager to boost their performance metrics. The singers who had come with Angel were initially chatting and laughing, but their faces fell when the reporter brought up their work.
Angel was now a public figure, and they couldn't say much.
Amy tugged at Angel's sleeve from behind.
Angel gently shook her head, signaling them not to worry. She then looked at the reporter calmly and said, "Yeah, I used to sing at bars with some friends, but I don't think that defines anything. There's no hierarchy in professions. As for William, some might think I'm not good enough for him, but we truly love each other. I'll be a supportive wife and try to learn about financial investments so I don't burden him."
"As for the wedding..."
Angel lowered her head and smiled, "That's up to him. He's been really busy with work lately, and I don't want to distract him with these matters. As long as William loves me, that's enough."
Angel's response was flawless, though she subtly hinted at Margaret, whose engagement to William was canceled because of her, a widely publicized event.
She had answered many such questions recently and knew what the reporters wanted.
The entertainment reporter, though initially reluctant, was satisfied by the end. Entertainment news often involved embellishment.
"Alright, my friends and I have some things to do. If you want to interview me, we can schedule another time."
Angel's words were clear, and the reporter understood. Having achieved their goal, there was no need to intrude further.
"Alright, Ms. Walsh, since you have things to attend to, we'll leave now. Sorry for the sudden interruption. Goodbye."
After the reporter left, Angel's friends swarmed around her, their eyes filled with envy, jealousy, and curiosity, though their words were all praises for Angel.
"Wow, handling situations like this has become second nature to you. You've really changed."
"Exactly, Marjorie is going to have a great life. But that reporter was really rude. Singing at bars doesn't make someone inferior."
The group chattered away, and Angel shrugged, still smiling kindly, "It's nothing. I've gotten used to it with all the recent events. Alright, I need to get my makeup touched up. Please wait a bit longer."
At Fisher Manor.
Angel had barely finished answering the reporter's questions when news of her engagement ceremony tonight was already online, complete with videos of her and the singers at the styling salon.
Abigail saw it and her pupils contracted. Watching the video, she became furious and stormed off to find Daisy.
"Aunt Daisy, look at what Angel said! She really thinks she can marry William and be a supportive wife. Isn't this a direct insult to you?"
Daisy frowned, took the phone from Abigail, and watched the video. Her face turned pale halfway through. Clearly, her tolerance for Angel had reached its limit.
Daisy angrily slammed the phone onto the couch, seething, "I gave her some respect, and she really thinks she's somebody! She doesn't even know her own worth!"
Abigail had been waiting for this reaction. She quickly persuaded Daisy to join her in storming to the styling salon.
When they arrived, Angel was still getting her makeup done, and her friends were chatting nearby. Hearing the door open, Angel turned and saw Abigail and Daisy, her face immediately darkening.
"So you're really here. How dare you talk about being a supportive wife!"
Abigail couldn't hold back her anger upon seeing Angel. She felt she had tolerated Angel's insinuations long enough, and this time was too much. William couldn't be with her!
"Abigail, what are you talking about? William and I are getting engaged. Why are you..."
Angel seemed much more aggrieved, her voice small. But Abigail didn't care, she glanced at the people around and started mocking.
Amy and the other women, who often frequented nightclubs, were not to be trifled with. Hearing Abigail's mockery, they immediately grabbed their handbags and started hitting Daisy and Abigail.
Daisy prided herself on being a lady, and with the odds against her, she and Abigail ended up leaving the salon in disgrace.
Daisy's face was pale, and she didn't say a word on the way back. Abigail had several red marks on her face, looking like scratches. The more she thought about it, the more aggrieved she felt, unable to swallow her anger.
Just a woman who couldn't even make it to the stage, singing at bars, and who knows how many men she's been with. How dare she compete with her!
Back at Fisher Manor, Abigail stormed upstairs to her room, her anger growing. She took out her phone and dialed a number, "Where are you?"
