Chapter 349 Begging You to See Lucy

"I don't have time," William said coldly, directly refusing.

William's heartless refusal made Michael's heart sink.

He tried to be patient. "Lucy did this because of you. Can't you at least come and comfort her?"

"I didn't ask her to commit suicide," William said icily, then hung up.

Hearing the click of the phone hanging up, Michael's grip on his phone tightened bit by bit.

He knew William didn't like Lucy, but not expected that he have no compassion at all for her suicide attempt.

Michael sat outside the emergency room, his eyes fixed on the door.

Images of Lucy lying in the bathtub, covered in blood, flashed through his mind, causing his heart to ache.

'Lucy, you must be okay.' Michael prayed silently.

Years ago, when their mother was on her deathbed, she held Michael's hand weakly and said, "Michael, when I'm gone, you must take good care of your sister."

At that time, Michael was only fifteen, and Lucy was just seven or eight.

"Mom, don't worry. I will take good care of Lucy and never let her suffer," Michael promised, his eyes red.

He had promised his mother he would take good care of Lucy.

So over the years, no matter what Lucy wanted, Michael tried his best to fulfill her wishes, which led to her spoiled nature.

But he never expected Lucy would attempt suicide over William.

Deep guilt and a trace of anger towards William intertwined in his heart at that moment.

"Grandpa, do you think Lucy will be okay?" Michael asked, his eyes bloodshot, looking up at Victor.

Victor's face was also grim. The scandal of Lucy fooling around with a male escort had already caused a huge uproar, tarnishing the Clark Family's reputation.

Now she had attempted suicide. If the reporters found out, it would cause another storm.

Victor sighed, "I hope Lucy will be okay."

At that moment, the light in the emergency room went out.

The doctor pushed Lucy out.

"How is my sister?" Michael hurriedly asked, anxious.

"Fortunately, she was brought in time. After the rescue, she's out of danger," The doctor said, adjusting his gold-rimmed glasses.

Michael finally breathed a sigh of relief.

He looked down at Lucy lying on the hospital bed. Her face was pale, her eyes closed, looking lifeless.

Michael's heart tightened again, thinking it was all William's fault that Lucy ended up like this.

Michael stayed with Lucy in the ward all night. It wasn't until the next morning that Lucy slowly woke up.

"Michael, why are you here?" Lucy asked as soon as she opened her eyes and saw Michael sitting by her bed.

"Lucy, how do you feel?" Michael asked, concerned.

"It hurts," Lucy said, frowning in pain.

Her memory started to return.

She remembered going to see William yesterday to apologize, but William didn't even spare her a glance.

In her heartbreak and frustration, Lucy chose to slit her wrists.

Indeed, she didn't really want to die; she just wanted to gain William's sympathy.

But she didn't expect to slip and fall into the bathtub, cutting herself deeply.

"Lucy, it's okay. The doctor checked you. As long as you rest for a few days, you'll recover," Michael said, comforting her.

Lucy looked around but didn't see the person she wanted to see.

William's tall and handsome figure flashed in her mind, and she swallowed hard.

"Where's William?" Lucy asked, biting her lip.

"William didn't come to the hospital to see me?" Lucy's face showed clear disappointment and sadness.

She had attempted suicide for William and was seriously injured, but William didn't worry about her at all.

"Why? Michael, tell me, why is he so heartless to me?" Lucy's tears started to flow.

She was willing to die for him, but he wouldn't even give her a glance.

Seeing Lucyso heartbroken, Michael felt like his heart was being cut.

He stood up and patted Lucy's shoulder. "Lucy, don't worry. William is just busy with work. He'll come to see you soon."

"Really?" Lucy's eyes lit up with a glimmer of hope.

Michael nodded firmly.

"You rest well in the ward. I'll go back to the office," Michael said, then turned and left the ward.

He had to find William and make him come to the hospital to see Lucy.

Leaving the hospital, Michael drove straight to William's house.

He happened to see William walking out the door.

"William, can I talk to you?" Michael blocked William's path.

"What is it?" William asked indifferently.

"It's about Lucy," Michael said, frowning. "She slit her wrists because of you and just got out of surgery."

"So she's fine now," William said, his face expressionless.

"Lucy may have made mistakes, but she's already been punished. Now she's seriously injured. William, can you go see her? I'm begging you!" Michael pleaded, putting aside all his pride.

He had promised Lucy that William would come to see her, and he had to keep that promise.

"Fine, I'll go see her for your sake. But this is the last time." William finally agreed after a moment of thought.

Since Michael had gone to such lengths, he had to give the Clark Family this face.

"Thank you!" Michael finally breathed a slight sigh of relief when William agreed.

"I'll go to the hospital later," William said, checking the time. He should be able to make it.
