Chapter 274 Not Someone You Can Mess With
Mia shot a glare at Matthew, yelling, "Why the hell should I say sorry to that witch Margaret? She snatched my fiancé!"
"You still don't get it, do you?" Matthew's face twisted in anger, and he slapped Mia hard.
Pain exploded on her cheek. Mia clutched her face, staring at Matthew in shock. "Matthew, you hit me? For that witch Margaret?"
Her pretty face contorted, looking almost wild.
Mia couldn't wrap her head around why her usually loving brother would smack her in front of everyone and all because of Margaret.
"Ms. Scott, I'm sorry. Mia's done a lot of messed-up stuff and hurt you. I'm apologizing for her! I've spoiled her since she was a kid. It's my fault for not keeping her in check. I promise, I'll keep a close eye on her from now on, and this won't happen again," Matthew said, lowering his head. "Ms. Scott, please accept my sincere apology!"
Margaret gave a slight smile. She knew Matthew's actions, whether it was smacking Mia earlier or apologizing now, were all to protect Mia. It seemed Matthew really cared for her.
"Matthew, I'll let you take Mia home today for your sake. But you better keep your promise and watch over her. If this happens again, I won't be so nice," Margaret said coldly, narrowing her eyes.
"Thank you, Ms. Scott." After promising repeatedly, Matthew had the bodyguards drag Mia away.
"Matthew, what the hell are you doing?" Mia struggled against the bodyguards but was shoved into Matthew's car, fuming. "You hit me for Margaret and then humiliated yourself by apologizing to her. You've disgraced the Davis family!"
"The one who disgraced us is you!" Matthew snapped, "If I hadn't done that, do you think Margaret would have let you off easy?"
"Why should we be scared of that witch?" Mia gritted her teeth.
Matthew glared at ungrateful Mia. "Margaret is not someone you can mess with!"
Seeing Matthew like this, Mia shrank back a bit. But inside, she was still defiant and planned to make Margaret pay for it.
Watching Mia get taken away, Skylar felt a chill.
"Ms. Scott, thank you for believing in me," Skylar walked up to Margaret, genuinely moved. Despite how she had treated Margaret before, Margaret didn't take the chance to get back at her.
Margaret smiled faintly. "I told you before, I won't wrong a good person, nor will I let a bad person go."
"Ms. Scott, I..." Skylar bit her lip, wanting to apologize but struggling to find the words.
"There's no need to dig up the past. Just focus on your role and make the best film for Starlight Entertainment, and I won't treat you unfairly. Got it?" Margaret said seriously.
She hoped that after this, Skylar would reflect and truly grow into a deserving actress.
"Ms. Scott, I get it. I'll bust my butt and not let you down again," Skylar said, her eyes getting all teary.
"Alright, let's get back to filming," Margaret said, her eyes drifting over to William nearby, a bit wary. She was worried he might pull the same stunt as last time and whisk her away.
Luckily, this time William just stood there, watching her with a blank face.
When Margaret wrapped up for the day, he finally walked over. "Let's go home."
Margaret nodded and hopped into his car.
"So, why'd you show up out of the blue today?" Margaret had been dying to ask.
William glanced at her. "Didn't I say I came to help you?"
"You're not mad anymore?" Margaret felt a warm fuzzy feeling, a smile creeping onto her face.
William raised an eyebrow. "Pretty sure it was you who was mad."
"Really? You were the one giving me the cold shoulder these past few days!" Margaret pouted.
She was ticked off at William for always being so bossy and making decisions for her. She just wanted him to stop controlling her, but instead, he started a cold war with her.
William chuckled. "I wasn't mad or ignoring you. I was busy gathering evidence against Mia for hurting you."
Hearing this, Margaret felt all warm inside.
"Still mad at me now?" William leaned in closer, giving her a half-smile.
Margaret shook her head, about to say something when William suddenly leaned in and kissed her.
"Drive!" Margaret blushed and pushed him away.
Margaret had been grinding on set for days, and finally, her scenes were done.
"Ms. Scott, we're throwing a wrap party at the Grand Plaza Hotel tomorrow night. You gotta come," Wayne said after her last scene.
Faced with Wayne's enthusiastic invite, Margaret agreed. "Sure thing!"
Wayne was Starlight Entertainment's top director, serious and responsible. Margaret had a good impression of him. Since it was a wrap party for the crew, it was only right for her to show up.
As soon as she got back to Water Moon Estate, Margaret felt like crap, coughing and sneezing non-stop. She had caught a cold.
During the last scene that morning, Margaret had been in the rain. She thought it was no big deal, but she ended up catching a cold.
Lyle sent a message: [Margaret, the party's at 7 PM tomorrow at the Grand Plaza Hotel. You gotta come.]
Margaret sat on the couch, looking at Lyle's message, sneezed, and quickly grabbed a tissue to wipe her nose.
"Here, take your medicine." William walked over with water and meds, handing them to her, his eyes catching a glimpse of her phone screen.
William's expression turned serious. He snatched Margaret's phone from her hand, his eyes cold and his tone leaving no room for argument. "You're sick. No party for you tomorrow."
