Chapter 463 Seraphina Is a Good Girl
Mia didn't hesitate and said, "Alright, leave it to me. I'll take care of it, no problem."
Susan, who had seen Margaret's design drafts, shifted from initial suspicion to trust in Mia. "I'll be waiting for your good news, Mia. The sooner, the better, of course."
If Leo's studio really reported them, they wouldn't stand a chance. Margaret's so-called "legendary" status would be ruined in no time.
Susan had been waiting to see this happen for a long time.
She took a sip of her coffee, her eyes gleaming with amusement, as if she could already see Margaret being trampled under her feet.
"Alright, Mia, you can go now. We'll stay in touch if anything comes up."
At Ravenford Hospital.
Seraphina had been in the hospital for three or four days. She was anxious about the filming, but her injury hadn't healed yet. A bone fracture wasn't something that healed quickly.
Since the day she confessed her feelings to Lyle, he hadn't visited her. This left Seraphina feeling disappointed and frustrated with herself for being so impulsive.
But today was different.
"Seraphina," came a knock on the door. After two knocks, Lyle walked in, holding a bouquet of gardenias. "How are you feeling lately?"
The moment Seraphina heard his voice, she perked up. Seeing that it was indeed Lyle, she couldn't help but smile. She sat up a bit and turned slightly to face him.
"I'm doing better. It doesn't hurt as much now, but the doctor said I still need to rest. Lyle, what brings you here today? Is the filming done?"
Seraphina felt a bit awkward seeing Lyle. She wasn't sure how he felt about her after her confession or if they could even remain friends.
Lyle had been conflicted, too. He had debated whether to visit Seraphina, but after three days of this feeling, he decided he couldn't let the misunderstanding continue. He didn't have any special feelings for her and didn't want to lead her on.
Besides, Seraphina was a good person.
"We only had a couple of scenes to shoot this morning. I thought it had been a while since I visited, so I brought you some flowers. They say having flowers by the bed can lift a patient's spirits and help with recovery."
Lyle smiled warmly and sat on the chair next to her bed.
Seraphina looked down and smiled softly. After a moment, she said, "Thank you, Lyle. I thought you wouldn't come to see me. About the other day, I—"
"I understand," Lyle interrupted gently. Seraphina looked at him, her lips moving slightly before she swallowed her words.
He took a deep breath, deciding it was best to be clear. "Seraphina, I appreciate your feelings, but some things can't be forced. You know who I truly care about. I see you as a sister, and I'm sorry."
Lyle lowered his eyes, struggling to find the right words. They felt heavy as they left his mouth.
The light in Seraphina's eyes dimmed with each word, like a candle burning out.
Her fingers clenched the edge of the blanket, then slowly released. She nodded, "It's okay. I get it. Don't worry, Lyle. I won't bother you. What I said that day was just a joke. You don't need to take it to heart."
She looked up and forced a lighthearted smile, though only they knew the truth behind her words.
Lyle felt uneasy, but his phone rang, and he saw it was Margaret calling. He answered naturally.
"Hey, Margaret, what's up?"
Hearing Margaret's name, Seraphina turned her face away, staying silent.
Margaret had just shut down her computer. "Nothing much. Just wanted to check on the progress while I'm not there. Any issues?"
Lyle smiled and said, "No issues. Everything's on track. Focus on your competition. We'll be ready for the film festival. Don't worry, we won't let your hard work go to waste."
Talking to Margaret, Lyle's voice softened, as if afraid to disturb her. Seraphina noticed and felt a pang of sadness.
But she knew Lyle had clearly rejected her. She had no right to be jealous or angry.
"Alright, I'll trust you. The competition here in Fleurancia is about to start. I'll return after it's over and see your progress."
"Okay, contact me if you need anything. I have something to take care of, so I'll talk to you later." Lyle glanced at Seraphina and found an excuse to end the call, feeling awkward.
"Seraphina, Seraphina, I'm here to see you!"
Lyle was about to say something when a man's voice echoed from the hallway, followed by approaching footsteps. Soon, a man in a floral shirt, looking quite handsome, entered the room with a big smile and a bouquet of roses. Another person followed him, carrying a large fruit basket.
The man had a carefree demeanor.
Lyle frowned instinctively, his lips pressed tightly together. Seraphina, sitting on the bed, was surprised to see him. "What are you doing here?"
The man quickly walked to her bedside, looking concerned. "I heard you got hurt on your movie set and needed to stay in the hospital. I was worried, so I brought flowers and fruit to cheer you up."
"Seraphina, you need to rest well, or I'll be heartbroken." The man frowned, looking deeply affectionate, which made Lyle uncomfortable. The man grabbed Seraphina's hand, but she quickly pulled it away, feeling uneasy.
The man didn't get upset. He smiled and took out a jewelry box from his pocket. "Seraphina, I know being in the hospital is tough. Look, I got you a gift—a handmade diamond necklace. Do you like it?"
