Chapter 387 Underground Romance
Margaret never liked discussing her personal life in public.
"Sorry, Lyle and I are done for the day. We've already answered questions about the movie, and we're not taking any more interviews. Please step aside."
Margaret's tone was calm, but her eyes had turned cold, showing a business-like attitude.
"Ms. Scott, just a little hint. Lyle, come on, give us something."
The reporters stepped back but showed no intention of leaving.
The former Mrs. Fisher Group's president, now divorced and seemingly heartbroken, was rumored to be getting close to the newly crowned Best Actor.
If this news got out, it would be a huge sensation!
How could they miss such a golden opportunity?
"Lyle, can you tell us if you plan to continue developing your relationship with Ms. Scott? Do you feel pressured because she's your boss?"
Lyle stopped in his tracks, and Margaret gave him a puzzled look.
What was he going to say?
Shouldn't they be leaving quickly right now?
Lyle cleared his throat, looked at Margaret with a smile, and then seriously said into a microphone, "Although Ms. Scott and I are currently just colleagues and friends, I've always liked her and am pursuing her. As for further development, that depends on when she decides to accept me."
Lyle's words were like a "time bomb" among the reporters. The one who received the answer fell silent, smiling broadly, clearly satisfied.
The sound of cameras clicking filled the air.
Margaret was visibly shocked.
She couldn't help but feel angry, turning her head to glare at Lyle with furrowed brows.
"Ms. Scott, what's your reaction? Do you like Lyle too?"
"Miss Scott, please answer our questions, Miss Scott."
Margaret pressed her lips together, her polite smile gone, clearly unwilling to answer these gossip questions.
Moreover, she couldn't understand why Lyle would say such things in front of the reporters when she had already seriously rejected him.
Lyle looked at her with a smile and asked with concern, "What's wrong?"
Margaret turned her face slightly, glaring at him angrily, and tugged at his arm, "Stop talking nonsense!"
She walked quickly ahead, and Lyle hurried to catch up. They got into the van, leaving the reporters behind.
The next day, the news exploded online.
"Mrs. Fisher from the Fisher Group heals heartbreak! Unwilling to reveal romance with Lyle!"
Similar headlines flooded social media, dominating the trending topics.
Grace was released from the police station five days later.
She seemed like a different person, walking out of the station in a daze. She glanced at her family's driver and quickly looked away, her complexion pale and haggard.
As soon as she entered the house, Grace saw Colt Thomas sitting on the couch with a stern expression. She lowered her head, avoiding his gaze, and tried to head upstairs, but Colt stopped her.
"Stop!" Colt's voice wasn't loud, but it carried anger and an undeniable authority.
Grace stood still for a long time before slowly turning around and walking to Colt. Her voice was choked with tears, full of grievance, "Dad."
"You still have the nerve to call me Dad!"
Colt was barely containing his anger. He stood up, walked around to face Grace, and slapped her hard.
He had always thought Grace was sensible, but she had caused such a big mess this time.
Grace stood there in shock, knowing she was wrong, so she didn't dare cry out. She just covered her face, her eyes turning red.
"Do you know how much trouble you've caused this time? Fooling around is one thing, but getting sent to the police station! If I hadn't pulled strings to get you out, you'd be in jail!"
Colt had been busy with company matters for days. Because of Grace, the company's stock had plummeted, and several projects had been withdrawn. The company was now in a worse financial situation.
As he scolded Grace, the veins on his forehead bulged, and he looked at her with a mix of anger and disappointment. But his anger couldn't change anything.
"Dad." Grace's lips trembled, filled with regret. She hated Lucy and Margaret. If it weren't for them, she wouldn't be in this situation.
"I know I was wrong, Dad. I won't do it again."
Grace cried, tears streaming down her face. Colt snorted heavily.
"Go to your room and don't go out, so you don't cause more trouble!"
Grace returned to her room, closed the door, and threw herself on the bed, crying.
Her phone rang twice. Through her tear-filled eyes, she picked it up and saw the news headline: "Starlight Entertainment President Margaret secretly dating Lyle!"
Grace's spirits lifted instantly.
Margaret and Lyle?
She frowned, her fingers sliding across the screen, reading the embellished article thoroughly.
Margaret.
Grace gritted her teeth, her eyes burning with anger.
"I will get rid of you! Lyle can only be mine!"
In the conference room, William was discussing the amusement park project with other board members, planning how to proceed and attract investors.
Suddenly, his phone vibrated in his pocket.
Five minutes later, during a break to gather thoughts, William took a sip of coffee and casually checked his phone.
He saw the news about Margaret and Lyle.
William's brows furrowed, his fingers tightening. When he saw the term "secret romance," he couldn't sit still.
"I need to step out and make a call, excuse me."
William adjusted his suit and briefly explained to the board members before quickly leaving the room, his expression serious.
Margaret, that woman!
"Margaret, what's going on with the news online? What do they mean by your 'secret romance' with Lyle?"
As soon as the call connected, William impatiently questioned, his tone angry.
William was jealous again.
Margaret felt a headache coming on. The rumors were everywhere, and she had already instructed the PR department to handle it urgently. But she hadn't anticipated William's reaction.
