Chapter 265 Put Yourself In Danger
William glanced at the dead horse on the ground, his eyes cold and stern.
"Take me over to check it out," Margaret whispered in his ear. "If Director Cooper says it's an old horse, he's probably right. Old horses don't usually have that much energy unless they've been juiced up."
"You think someone drugged it?" William frowned, feeling something was off.
It couldn't be a coincidence that every time, Margaret's props had issues.
"Yeah." Margaret nodded.
She and William walked over to the horse. Margaret lifted its eyelid and checked its tongue, her suspicions confirmed.
"Yep, it was drugged," Margaret said coldly to William. "I was right."
"So, who drugged it?" William pondered.
Margaret squinted slightly. "It's gotta be the mastermind who's been trying to mess with me!"
Just then, Lyle brought the horse's owner over.
The owner, already aware of what had happened, quickly explained, "It's not my fault. I was so scared something would go wrong that I even starved these horses for a few days to keep them calm. I never thought something like this would still happen."
He looked terrified, fearing he would be held responsible. After all, Margaret had almost gotten hurt today. He couldn't bear that responsibility.
Lyle looked at Margaret with concern. "Margaret, what do you think?"
"Forget it, I'm fine anyway. It might just be an accident," Margaret rubbed her temples and said, "Deal with the horse, then find another one so we can keep..."
Before she could finish her sentence, a strong force with a bit of heat came from her waist.
The next second, before Margaret could react, William had already scooped her up in a princess carry.
"William, what are you doing?" Margaret struggled.
"No more filming." William looked down at her, speaking in a domineering tone.
Under the astonished gazes of everyone, William carried Margaret away.
William's handsome face was tense, and he silently carried Margaret to the resting tent. He carefully placed her on a chair and handed her a cup of water.
"I didn't expect you to be so strong. The arrow wasn't even sharpened, yet you managed to shoot the horse dead," Margaret said, holding the cup and glancing at William.
Thinking about how she almost fell off the horse earlier, Margaret still felt a bit shaken.
William snorted coldly, "You shouldn't film this scene anymore."
Margaret didn't answer him, looking around at the bustling staff. She asked, "Did you drive here?"
"Yeah." William's expression was cold, his thin lips tightly pressed together, showing his displeasure.
"Then let's talk in your car." With that, Margaret stood up.
William took a long stride and led Margaret to his car.
"Why did you suddenly come?" Margaret asked, sitting in the passenger seat, leaning against the soft seat, her face looking much better.
William's deep eyes were fixed on her, and he said in a heavy tone, "I was worried about you."
It seemed he had already guessed she would be in trouble.
Margaret sighed lightly. "You don't need to worry about me. I kinda figured something would go down this time."
Last time, her props had been messed with, but she wasn't seriously hurt. The person behind it would definitely strike again. This time, the horseback riding scene was the perfect setup.
"I pretended not to know anything to lure the mastermind into making a mistake," Margaret explained with a smile.
But unexpectedly, after hearing her words, William's face became even colder. He got up and pressed her down, his eyes flashing with anger. "So, you deliberately put yourself in danger?"
"I..." Seeing the worry and anger in his eyes, Margaret suddenly felt a bit guilty.
"Do you know how freaked out I was when I saw you almost falling off the horse? I was really scared something would happen to you!" William's voice was low, and no one could understand the momentary fear that blanked his mind.
He was scared that something would happen to Margaret and he would never see her again.
Margaret had never seen William like this before. She bit her lip. "I promise you, there won't be a next time."
"Well, whatever. You shouldn't film anymore, not ever." William frowned, his tone domineering and firm.
"No way!" Margaret refused outright. "If I give up filming, I won't be able to find the person trying to harm me. Once I've made up my mind, I won't change it."
Margaret hated being controlled, and William had no right to dictate her actions.
"But continuing to film will only get you hurt. You could predict this time, but can you predict the next?" William suddenly reached out, his distinct fingers gripping her arm, his eyes sharp and cold.
"That's my business! You have no right to interfere," Margaret snapped, feeling the pain in her arm.
William's face was extremely dark. "What did you say?" He gritted his teeth, glaring at her.
Margaret was about to speak when William suddenly leaned down, his sexy thin lips sealing hers.
Margaret's voice was completely muffled, unable to say a word. She could only feel William's tight grip, making it impossible for her to move.
William's rough and domineering kiss overwhelmed her, making her almost suffocate.
After what felt like an eternity, William finally let her go when he saw she was struggling to breathe.
Margaret glared at William, wiping her mouth.
This made William's face darken again. He returned to the driver's seat, stepped on the gas, and drove away from the set with Margaret.
"Let me out!" Margaret tried to open the door, but it was locked.
William drove straight to Water Moon Estate.
As soon as the car stopped, Margaret got out, went inside, and locked herself in her room.
Leaning against the door, Margaret could hear William's footsteps outside, but he didn't knock.
After a few seconds, she heard his footsteps fade away, followed by the sound of a door closing.
After a long day and a fight with William, Margaret felt exhausted and collapsed onto the bed. Just as she was about to rest, her phone rang.
Margaret took out her phone and saw it was Anthony calling.
"Hello, Anthony," Margaret answered.
Anthony's voice came through the phone. "Ada, I found out what you asked me to investigate."
