Chapter 248 The Unexpected Incident at the Opening Ceremony 2
The reporters swarmed William, firing off questions like machine guns.
"Mr. Fisher, does showing up at Starlight Entertainment's launch mean the Fisher Group's diving into the entertainment biz?"
"Mr. Fisher, word on the street is you're chasing after Ms. Scott again. Any truth to that?"
"Mr. Fisher, rumor had it you dumped Ms. Scott 'cause she was a country girl and didn't fit the Fisher Family's high standards. Now she's a rich heiress and the secret CEO of Starlight Entertainment. Is that why you're back on her trail?"
William furrowed his brows, and he snapped, "Back off, no interviews."
His intense vibe made the reporters step aside, not daring to push further.
William found a seat in the corner and plopped down.
Right at 2 PM, the opening ceremony kicked off.
The host's voice boomed, "Hey everyone, welcome to the launch of 'Imperial Secrets: Palace of Roses.' Let's get this show on the road! Give it up for Mr.Pennington and Ms. Scott!"
With roaring applause, Lyle and Margaret strutted onto the stage.
Lyle cleared his throat. "Thanks for coming to the launch of 'Imperial Secrets: Palace of Roses.' This is a big historical drama with a two-billion-dollar budget from Starlight Entertainment, and it's our major release for the second half of the year.
We've got a killer cast with top celebs, and our CEO Margaret will make a special guest appearance. It's gonna be a visual treat for everyone."
"Please support us," Margaret added with a charming smile.
The applause thundered again, filling the auditorium with an electric vibe. Just then, two young girls with flower bouquets dashed to the front of the stage and started climbing the steps.
Security quickly moved in. "Sorry, ladies, please head back to your seats."
"Lyle, we're your biggest fans! We just wanna give you these flowers," the girls shouted.
Fan girls rushing the stage with flowers was no biggie for Lyle. He gave a slight nod to the security, who let the girls through.
Each girl held out a bouquet, heading towards Lyle and Margaret.
"Lyle, I'm your biggest fan! I've watched all your movies a million times. I love you so much!" one girl gushed, handing the flowers to Lyle.
Lyle took the flowers and said, "Thanks."
"Ms. Scott, you're even more stunning in person," the other girl said, eyes sparkling with admiration. She handed the flowers to Margaret, "Ms. Scott, these are for you."
"Thank you." Margaret was about to take the flowers when the girl suddenly tripped and fell into Margaret.
The flowers smacked Margaret's face, shoulder, and chest before scattering everywhere.
"I'm so sorry, Ms. Scott. I slipped," the girl stammered, looking mortified.
Margaret smiled. "No worries."
The little flower mishap blew over, and soon it was time for the reporters' questions.
The reporters, chomping at the bit, started firing off questions.
"Ms. Scott, this is your first gig as the CEO of Starlight Entertainment at a launch. How's it feel?" one entertainment reporter kicked things off.
Margaret kept her cool smile and said, "I'm super happy right now. Starlight Entertainment's all about bringing the best stuff to our audience. We hope you all back us up."
"Ms. Scott, I heard this is your first time acting. Is the guest role tough for you?" the reporter pressed.
"Not at all. I'll give it my all," Margaret replied.
"Word is, you and Lyle are playing a couple in the drama. Any chance that on-screen romance could spill over into real life?" another reporter jumped in.
"Of course..."
Before Margaret could even respond, Lyle butted in, "We can't rule that out."
William, sitting in the corner, already looked pissed, and now he was fuming.
'Margaret didn't deny it, so she agrees? Damn it!' William thought, wishing he could storm the stage and yank Lyle off, taking his place.
On stage, Margaret felt two icy stares boring into her. She glanced over at William and accidentally locked eyes with him. Even from afar, she could tell he was livid.
"Wow, looks like there might be something brewing between Ms. Scott and Mr.Pennington!" a reporter said excitedly, shoving the mic towards Margaret. "Ms. Scott, rumors say you and Mr. Fisher are back together. Any truth to that?"
Margaret was about to answer when she felt an itch on her face. She instinctively rubbed her cheek.
The itch spread to her face, shoulder, and chest, becoming unbearable. It felt like a swarm of tiny ants biting her, making her super uncomfortable. This had to be an allergic reaction.
Margaret frowned slightly. She was allergic to platinum, so she always avoided it like the plague. Other than platinum, she had no other known allergies.
Now, this crazy itching made her sure it was a platinum allergy. But that was weird; she hadn't touched anything platinum today. She wondered why she was suddenly reacting now.
Her skin would get red and swollen within minutes of touching platinum, so she must've come into contact with it in the last ten minutes. But she'd been on stage for at least half an hour.
Margaret couldn't figure it out. She looked down at the flowers on the ground. Suddenly, it hit her.
When the girl tripped earlier, the flowers had brushed her face, shoulder, and chest. And now, those were the exact spots itching like crazy. She guesed there might be something with the flowers.
"Ms. Scott?" Seeing Margaret go silent and her expression change, the reporter was about to ask more questions when he noticed something was off.
Margaret's face and body had turned red and swollen, covered in small rashes.
