Chapter 252 Waiting for Her to Come to Me
William was hell-bent on defying her. Instead of backing off, he got even closer to Margaret. He smiled and let out a chuckle. "I ain't going anywhere."
Margaret just rolled her eyes at him. "Move, I need to grab the ointment."
"What ointment?" William looked confused.
Taking advantage of his distraction, Margaret shoved him away. "My homemade anti-allergy ointment."
"I'll get it for you," William said, pulling her back onto the bed. "Where is it?"
Margaret pointed to her suitcase. "In the compartment."
"Got it," William said, giving her a gentle look. "You just chill."
Margaret felt a warm, fuzzy feeling inside from his concern. It was cozy and kinda special.
William rummaged through the suitcase and found the ointment. "This it?"
"Yeah." Margaret nodded.
William came back to the bed and sat down.
"Hand it over," Margaret reached out.
But William didn't budge. He just looked at her deeply. "I'll do it."
Before she could react, William opened the ointment. With his long fingers, he squeezed out some of the white ointment and carefully applied it to her cheeks.
The warmth of his fingertips, mixed with the coolness of the ointment, felt like soft feathers brushing against her skin. It was tingly and super comfy.
With him so close, Margaret's face started heating up again. Her heartbeat picked up a bit.
Noticing her embarrassment, William said in a low, deep voice, "Close your eyes."
His voice was so smooth, it felt like magic, and Margaret obediently closed her eyes.
William's long, nimble fingers traced along her cheeks, neck, and shoulders. Then, they went further down to her breast.
A strange sensation spread through every cell in her body. She quickly opened her eyes and pressed down on his hand, which was circling her breast with the ointment, her tone shy. "That's enough."
Her embarrassed and shy look made William very happy. He raised an eyebrow and deliberately moved his hand towards her breast again, his face serious. "I haven't finished here yet."
"Enough, there's no allergy there," Margaret quickly shrank back and changed the subject. "By the way, William, did you have someone check out those flowers on the ground yesterday?"
Margaret was almost sure the flowers caused her allergy. She didn't know the two girls with the flowers, so someone must've put them up to it.
Thinking about it now, among the people she had beef with, Ella was still in jail. The others—Lucy, Grace, Angel, Mia, and Annie—all seemed suspicious.
Margaret couldn't understand why these women were all so crazy, always targeting her. She really didn't want to fight with them. But they just loved causing her trouble. This made her totally speechless.
"I had Peter look into it," William said, putting down the ointment and sitting next to her.
Margaret nodded. "Did he find anything?"
"Not yet, but he should soon," William replied calmly.
Yesterday, Margaret's allergy and fever were so bad that William was all about taking care of her. He hadn't even had time to check in with Peter.
Just then, his phone rang. William glanced at the screen. It was Peter.
"Peter, did you find anything about what I asked you to check out yesterday?" William put the call on speaker so Margaret could hear.
"Yeah, Mr. Fisher," Peter's voice came through. "I had the flowers tested, and the results just came back. The petals had a ton of platinum in them."
Margaret squinted her eyes slightly. She was right—it was the flowers!
"Did you find the two girls who brought the flowers?" William asked, his tone icy.
If they found those girls, they could figure out who was behind this.
"Yeah, they're two college students," Peter said. "But they deny messing with the flowers, and we can't get anything out of them."
"Is that so?" William's face darkened. "Keep digging!"
"Yes, Mr. Fisher," Peter said respectfully.
After hanging up, Margaret and William exchanged a look.
"Margaret, what do you think?" William asked.
Margaret pursed her lips. "I don't know those two college students, so it's possible someone put them up to this."
She paused for a moment. "But if someone really did, it's too obvious."
William nodded. "You're right. There were so many people there, and lots of reporters. It'd be easy to find out who those students are. If someone really did instruct them, it would be easy to trace back to them."
Someone trying to frame Margaret wouldn't be dumb enough to have two students give her flowers in front of everyone, causing her to have an allergic reaction.
"Yeah." Margaret's eyes turned cold. "It's likely those two students are just scapegoats, and someone secretly tampered with their flowers to harm me. We just don't know who that person is."
"No matter who it is, I won't let them get away with it!" William's face tensed up, and his deep eyes radiated coldness.
Margaret smiled faintly. "This person is targeting me, so I'll handle it myself."
"What are you planning to do?" William's voice was low.
Margaret replied, "Of course, I'll find out who it is, and then, repay them accordingly."
"How do you plan to find out?" William frowned.
Margaret shrugged, speaking with a relaxed expression, "It's simple, wait for them to come to me."
"You mean?" William had a vague idea of what Margaret was planning, and his face turned serious.
Margaret squinted her eyes, her tone full of certainty. "Since this person is determined to harm me, and I'm fine now, they won't give up easily. They will definitely try again soon. All I have to do is wait for them to come to me."
