Chapter 167 Meeting Marjorie Again

Margaret yanked her arm back and shot Abigail a frosty glare. "Abigail, quit being such a drama queen! I'm not here to bicker; I just wanna see Bradley."

"Auntie Daisy, look at Margaret! She's being mean to me!" Abigail whined, clutching Daisy's hand like a lifeline.

Daisy's face scrunched up, and she raised her voice. "Margaret, listen up. The Fisher family wants nothing to do with you. Stop trying to mess with William! You're not welcome here, so scram!"

"Move it, both of you!" Margaret was done with the drama. She shoved Daisy aside and marched straight ahead.

Seeing Margaret almost at the ward door, Daisy rushed over and barked at the bodyguards, "What are you waiting for? Get her out! Don't let her in!"

The bodyguards exchanged looks, hesitated, then turned to Margaret. "Ms. Scott, you need to leave."

Margaret shot them a steely look. "Step aside."

"Margaret, you shameless witch, get out! You wanna hurt my grandpa again?" Abigail screeched, her face red with fury.

Yesterday, Margaret had spilled to reporters that she was adopted, and today it was all over the news. Her carefully crafted image as a rich heiress at school was in shambles. People were whispering behind her back, calling her a fake, and even her die-hard suitors were turning cold.

Margaret gave Abigail a mocking look, about to retort, when the ward door swung open, and William's familiar figure appeared.

"What’s going on here?" William's voice was cold, his frown deepening.

Seeing William, Abigail quickly pointed at Margaret, her voice dripping with venom. "William, this wicked woman caused Grandpa's heart attack yesterday, and now she's here to stir things up again. She's pure evil!"

William's icy gaze landed on Margaret. He had been by Bradley's side all night, not catching a wink of sleep.

Hearing the commotion outside, William had opened the door to check, only to find Margaret standing there. A mix of emotions flickered in his eyes, and his heart felt heavy.

Thinking of Bradley's condition, lying in bed with an uncertain fate because of Margaret, William's face hardened. "It's you." His tone was flat, emotionless.

Margaret nodded, meeting his cold stare.

In just one night, he looked worn out. His handsome face was etched with exhaustion, making her heart ache. She thought she could face William calmly, but her heart was racing.

"William, I came to see Bradley." Margaret took a deep breath, trying to steady her voice.

William frowned, about to respond, when he saw a man rushing towards Margaret.

It was Lyle.

"Margaret, you okay?" Lyle had been waiting at the hospital entrance, worried when Margaret didn't come down, so he came looking for her.

Margaret was caught off guard for a second, then turned to Lyle with a smile. "I'm good."

"Oh, Margaret, I really underestimated you," Daisy sneered. "You just got dumped by William, and now you're cozying up to Lyle?"

"Mrs. Fisher, cut the crap!" Lyle's face darkened.

Daisy smirked. "You're defending her so much. Can you honestly say there's nothing going on between you two?"

Margaret felt a wave of frustration. She just wanted to see Bradley, check on him, maybe help out. Why was it such a hassle?

She turned back to William. "William, let me see Bradley."

The moment he saw Lyle, William's already cold face turned to ice. Despite Margaret's claims that she and Lyle were just friends, Lyle's concern seemed way more than friendly. And Margaret, who had just broken off their engagement last night, was now with Lyle. The irony was thick.

'Did she dump me for Lyle?' In a flash, a million thoughts raced through William's mind.

"Margaret, go home. My grandpa doesn't want to see you." His voice was like a glacier.

With that, he turned and went back into the ward.

The door slammed shut with a bang. The sound made Margaret flinch. Her heart sank, the pain spreading through her like wildfire.

"Margaret, let's go," Lyle said softly, seeing her staring at the door.

Margaret snapped out of it and nodded, feeling a bit defeated.

"You two hear that? Margaret's not allowed back here!" Daisy said smugly to the bodyguards.

"Yes, Mrs. Fisher!" they replied.

As they left the hospital, Margaret's phone rang. It was Xavier.

"Margaret, it's me." Xavier's voice was warm.

Hearing his voice, Margaret felt a lump in her throat. "Grandpa."

"I saw the news. What's going on with you and William?" Xavier sounded confused.

After rescuing Margaret and William from the island, Xavier had gone on a world tour. He was having a blast until he saw the news about Margaret and William breaking off their engagement and Bradley's heart attack.

"Grandpa, I..." Margaret took a deep breath, not wanting to worry him. "It's nothing. I'll handle it."

"Can you really handle it?" Xavier asked with a slight smile.

"Yes, Grandpa, enjoy your trip. Don't worry about me." Margaret tried to sound calm.

Xavier knew her well and nodded. "Alright, but call me if anything happens."

After hanging up, Margaret opened the car door, about to get in, when she saw a woman in the distance, carrying a thermos and heading towards the hospital.

The woman looked familiar.

As she got closer, Margaret squinted and finally recognized her. It was Marjorie.
