Chapter 236 Will You Come Back to Me?
William's lips met hers, and Margaret felt like she was about to suffocate.
That familiar vibe made William crave more. He grabbed Margaret's head with both hands, deepening the kiss.
The kitchen was heating up, literally.
Out of nowhere, Margaret caught a whiff of something burning. She took a few deep breaths, and the nasty smell got stronger.
Margaret's eyes darted to the iron skillet on the stove, and she saw the fried egg had turned black, with smoke pouring from the edges of the pan. She shoved William away and yelled, "It's burning!"
William, with his back to the stove, heard Margaret's shout and let go of her.
Spinning around, William quickly turned off the gas stove. He'd been so wrapped up in getting Margaret's attention that he totally forgot about the frying egg.
Margaret shot him a look and said, "Seriously?"
William stepped forward, placing his hands on Margaret's shoulders, and said in a deep voice, "I must be nuts to be so head over heels for you!"
Margaret stayed quiet.
William kept going, "Just now, you thought I was hurt, and you were worried and anxious about me. You still love me, don't you?"
The sudden sweet talk made Margaret's heart race. Meeting his intense gaze, she blushed.
Margaret looked away, changing the subject. "It's getting late, we should get to work!"
With that, Margaret turned and headed for the door. But William reached out, wrapping his hand around her waist. With a gentle pull, she fell back into his arms.
"Margaret, come back to me, will you?" William nodded slightly, his eyes filled with a tenderness that only showed up around Margaret.
Margaret's breath hitched. "Don't do this."
"Margaret, what will it take for you to come back to me?" William looked at her deeply and asked seriously.
Margaret pursed her lips. "Let's see how you behave."
Hearing her words, William smiled meaningfully, realizing Margaret was with a tough exterior but a soft heart.
One day, he'd make her accept him again and come back to his side. And William believed that day wasn't far off.
William drove with Margaret to the Fisher Group.
Margaret opened the recent sales data for the "Ice and Fire" jewelry and started reviewing it seriously.
After a bunch of tweaks, the sales of the "Ice and Fire" jewelry had bounced back big time. But fake products were still all over the place.
Margaret rubbed her temples; it seemed like it was time to take the fight to those knock-offs from Royal Radiance.
As she was drafting a detailed plan, the phone on her desk rang, which was William calling.
Margaret picked up the phone. "William, what's up?"
"Come to my office." William's cold voice came through.
"Okay." Margaret agreed.
Taking the elevator to the eighteenth floor, Margaret knocked on the door of the CEO's office.
William said, "Come in."
Margaret pushed the door open and walked up to William. "You needed me?"
William looked up at her. "You ready for the afternoon press conference?"
"Yeah." Margaret nodded.
"I'll clear up the North Bay project mess then," William said in a deep voice.
"What about Angel?" Margaret asked calmly.
William's handsome face turned colder. "She's fired."
"Just fired?" Margaret's eyes narrowed coldly.
William sighed lightly, "Margaret, I owe her that much."
Margaret's face stayed blank. "If that's all, I'll get back to work."
With that, Margaret turned and left. Just as she stepped out of the CEO's office, a woman in a white dress blocked her path.
Margaret looked up, and it was Angel standing there.
'Isn't she supposed to be in the hospital? Why is she suddenly here?' Margaret frowned slightly. "Move aside."
Angel glared at Margaret with anger. "Margaret, you think you've won? I saved William's life; he loves me! You'll never beat me!"
"Really?" Margaret said calmly, "If I remember right, you've already been fired by William, right? You're not an employee of the Fisher Group anymore, so you have no right to be here."
Margaret glanced at Peter not far away and raised her voice. "Peter, seems like security's been slacking. Are non-employees allowed to waltz in now?"
Peter got the hint and said to Angel, "I'm sorry, but you need to leave."
"I'm here to see William!" Angel's face changed, and she glared at Margaret.
At that moment, the door of the CEO's office opened, and William appeared in Margaret's sight.
"What's going on?" William stepped out, hearing the commotion outside.
Seeing William, Angel quickly walked to his side and said pitifully, "William, my wound hurts."
William's gaze fell on Angel's chest, his voice cold. "If your wound hurts, why aren't you in the hospital?"
"I miss you." Angel grabbed William's arm, "William, I know you're mad at me, I know I messed up. I came to apologize. I'm sorry, William."
"The person you should apologize to isn't me, it's Margaret," William pulled his arm away and said coldly.
A flash of jealousy flickered in Angel's eyes. she grabbing Margaret's arm and said, "Ms. Scott, I'm sorry, I messed up. Please be kind and don't be mad at me. Will you forgive me?"
"William, get her out of here!" Margaret frowned at William and pulled her arm away.
Angel fell to the ground, crying. "Ms. Scott, if you won't forgive me, fine, but why did you push me?"
Angel was starting her poor act again.
Margaret looked down at Angel and sneered, "I didn't push you."
Angel clutched her chest, her face pale, tears streaming as she looked at William. "William, my wound hurts!"
Blood flowed from Angel's chest, staining her white dress red.
