Chapter 496 Let Him Down
Terry noticed Seraphina's hesitation and casually drummed his fingers on the table. "I might not know much about being a celebrity, but I do know a thing or two about staying healthy. You've been shooting all morning; you need to recharge."
Seraphina's eyes darted around, still resisting the temptation.
"How about you sneak a sip? I'll cover for you so your manager won't see. Deal?" Terry suggested softly.
"Just one sip," Seraphina agreed, reaching for the juice. She took a big gulp, meeting Terry's eyes as she did.
The sweet taste instantly lifted Seraphina's spirits, and a satisfied smile spread across her face.
As Seraphina leaned closer, Terry noticed her silky, chestnut-dyed hair falling gracefully over her shoulders, a change made for the commercial.
Terry's gaze softened as he watched her.
Soon, Seraphina's manager returned with lunch. Since she was dieting, she only took a few bites before resuming the shoot.
As the shoot was about to start, Seraphina jokingly asked Terry if he wanted to make a cameo, which he politely declined.
This scene involved a large set and many extras. Seraphina got into character, and the shoot proceeded smoothly.
However, just as they were wrapping up, an unexpected incident occurred.
An elderly woman standing by the street suddenly collapsed, her face contorted in pain, alarming everyone present.
The woman was breathing heavily and trembling.
"What happened?" Seraphina rushed over, but she was at a loss.
Terry pushed through the crowd, much calmer than everyone else. He knelt down to examine her and said gravely, "It's a heart attack."
"What should we do?" Seraphina asked, her voice tinged with anxiety.
For some reason, the sight of the elderly woman reminded Seraphina of her own grandmother.
"Call an ambulance, quickly," Terry instructed, starting CPR on the woman.
Seraphina hurriedly dialed her phone, and the atmosphere grew tense as everyone anxiously awaited help.
The ambulance arrived swiftly, and the paramedics lifted the woman onto a stretcher.
"Will she be okay?" Seraphina asked, her voice trembling.
The doctor smiled reassuringly. "Thanks to the timely intervention, she'll be fine. But we need to take her to the hospital for a thorough check-up."
Relieved, Seraphina looked at Terry with admiration. "Thank goodness you were here. She could have been in real danger."
Terry smiled modestly. "Saving lives is what every doctor is supposed to do. I'm no exception."
"Lucy!" Michael stormed into the house, his voice low and furious as he entered the living room.
After the incident, William had taken extra steps. A few days after Michael and Margaret returned from the old house, William had Peter thoroughly investigate the hotel situation.
William then confronted the reporter from the newspaper who had colluded with Lucy, recording their entire conversation. He later went to the Clark Group and played the recording for Michael.
Michael was stunned and deeply embarrassed.
"Mr. Clark, I hope you can keep your sister in check. If she continues with these disgusting tactics and bothers me and Margaret again, next time it won't just be a warning."
Those were William's parting words before leaving the Clark Group.
Michael stared at the recording device left on the table, feeling a growing sense of urgency.
So, as soon as he got home, he couldn't help but confront Lucy.
Lucy emerged from the bathroom, walking into the living room to see Michael's darkened expression. She asked, somewhat puzzled, "Michael, what's wrong?"
Seeing Lucy, Michael's anger flared. He had agreed to pursue Margaret for Lucy's sake, even though he didn't want to. But he never imagined Lucy would resort to drugging and conspiring with others to keep Margaret and William apart!
He was utterly disappointed.
"Why did you do it?" he demanded, his usual calm demeanor shattered by his rage.
"I agreed to pursue Margaret for you. Why did you have to conspire with others to smear her? And drug her drink? If someone hadn't told me, I wouldn't have believed you could do such a thing!"
Michael was livid, his eyes filled with disappointment and sorrow. He never thought his beloved sister could become so unscrupulous and obsessive.
He felt he had failed his mother's trust.
Lucy remained calm, a hint of mockery in her eyes. She didn't understand why Michael was so angry. Was it because of her?
No, he just didn't truly care for anyone, so he couldn't understand her.
Michael was too kind, too indecisive. Such a person would never achieve much.
"So what? Michael, why are you so angry? Nothing happened in the end, right?"
Lucy's nonchalant response stunned Michael. His disbelief quickly turned into a deeper fury.
"Nothing happened? Are you disappointed? William came to the company! Do you know what would have happened if there were negative news about Margaret? Do you know what William would do? Our father's company, our home, would be ruined because of you! And the person you involved, Fleurancia, is from the Aelthoros royal family. Do you know what it means to offend them? You know nothing!"
Michael was beside himself with rage, feeling a desperate need to wake Lucy up.
In stark contrast to Michael's outburst, Lucy remained composed, almost indifferent. She shrugged and sat on the couch, looking at Michael with a hint of exasperation.
"Michael, why are you so worked up? It's not a big deal. Even if he knows, so what? Margaret doesn't deserve to be with William. She's just a country bumpkin who got lucky.
And... you believe that guy is from the Aelthoros royal family? He's just some idiot who believes whatever I say. Anyway, nothing happened. Michael, just focus on winning Margaret over. It'll take some pressure off me, okay?"
