Chapter 245 Damage Margaret's Reputation
"What the heck are you doing?" Margaret's breath caught, and before she could even blink, William scooped her up like she weighed nothing.
Falling into William's strong arms, Margaret could hear his heartbeat thumping away. Her face turned a shade of pink. She looked up and locked eyes with William's unreadable gaze.
In those intense, cold eyes, she saw herself, snug in his grip. For a moment, she was too stunned to fight back and just let him hold her.
A few seconds later, she snapped out of it and tried to push him away, but he held on tight.
William carried her straight to the car. He slid into the driver's seat, his face dark as he started the engine.
Watching the car pull away, a flicker of sadness crossed Lyle's face. Margaret was just taken away by William, just like that.
Lyle stood there, helpless, as the woman he loved was whisked away by another guy, unable to do a thing. Because he knew Margaret hadn't forgotten William at all.
That feeling of defeat hit Lyle harder than ever. But he wasn't about to give up. As long as Margaret wasn't married, he still had a shot.
Plus, she hadn't agreed to be with William yet. He definitely had a chance. Lyle kept telling himself that.
"William, where are you taking me?" Margaret looked out the window and realized this wasn't the way to East Garden.
William glanced at her and said coolly, "Water Moon Estate."
"Take me back." Margaret rubbed her temples. "I'm tired and need to rest."
William smirked. "I've already had your stuff moved to Water Moon Estate."
"What?" Margaret's face turned serious. "How could you move my things without asking me?"
"I didn't just move them randomly, I moved them as they were," William said like it was no big deal.
Margaret stayed quiet, thinking William was really overbearing.
Half an hour later, William stopped the car. "We're here, Margaret." He got out and opened the door for her.
Margaret shot him a glare. He'd already moved her stuff here, so going back to East Garden wasn't an option.
Back at William's place in Water Moon Estate, everything felt so familiar.
"Mr. Fisher, Ms. Scott." Isolde's face lit up with a big smile when she saw Margaret. She thought, 'This time, Mr. Fisher moved all of Ms. Scott's things back. She probably won't leave again.'
"Isolde, long time no see," Margaret smiled and greeted her.
"Mr. Fisher, if there's nothing else, I'll take my leave," Isolde said, knowing when to make herself scarce.
William nodded. "Okay."
Margaret turned and headed to her room. The room was spotless, everything still in its place.
Feeling a bit emotional, she opened the two suitcases William had brought from East Garden and started unpacking.
"Didn't you say you were tired and needed to rest?" William leaned against the doorframe, hands in his pockets. The orange light made him look like some kind of god, all handsome and chill.
"How am I supposed to rest with you just standing there?" Margaret shot William a glare.
She got up and tried to shove him out the door. "Get out!"
Maybe she pushed too hard, and suddenly she slipped, falling right into William's arms.
William wrapped his arm around her waist and chuckled. "Should I take this as you eagerly throwing yourself at me?"
Margaret wriggled out of his grip. "Stop talking nonsense, get out!"
Finally managing to push him out, Margaret quickly locked the door. Lying on the familiar big bed, her thoughts wandered. 'Did I really just move back like that?'
Thinking about it, she drifted off to sleep, having a peaceful night's rest.
The next day, at the Clark Mansion, "Lucy, the reporters caught Lyle and Margaret meeting late at night, but..." Grace stood cautiously in front of Lucy, choosing her words carefully.
"But what?" Lucy pressed.
Grace took a deep breath and answered, "But Mr. Fisher suddenly showed up and drove the reporters away."
'Why would William suddenly show up at Lyle's place? Could it be because of Margaret?' Lucy couldn't hide the jealousy in her eyes. "And then?"
"Then, Mr. Fisher took Margaret away," Grace glanced at Lucy's angry face and quickly added, "Actually, last night wasn't a total loss. The reporters gave me the photos they took."
Grace quickly opened her phone and showed the photos to Lucy. "Lucy, look, these are all photos of Lyle and Margaret together."
Lucy narrowed her eyes. "Very good. Have you set up a meeting with Mia for me?"
Grace nodded repeatedly. "Yes, at the café at noon."
A trace of malice flashed in Lucy's eyes.
Mia had been publicly humiliated by Margaret with scandalous photos, leading to Lyle breaking off their engagement and ruining Mia's pure and elegant image as a pianist.
Mia must hate Margaret to the core. With a few more hints and provocations, she would definitely take action against Margaret. Then, Lucy would damage Margaret's reputation.
At the café, Lucy and Grace arrived a few minutes early, but Mia was already there.
"Ms. Clark, what do you want to talk about?" Mia stirred her coffee and got straight to the point.
The Clark Family and the Davis Family were old family friends. Mia and Lucy had known each other since childhood.
Lucy signaled to Grace, who understood and took out her phone, showing the photos. "Ms. Davis, take a look at this."
Mia took the phone and looked down. Every photo featured Lyle and Margaret. Mia's face turned grim.
"Ms. Davis, these photos were given to me by a reporter friend." Grace cleared her throat and exaggerated. "Last night, Margaret was at Lyle's place the whole time. Who knows what they did?"
Mia handed the phone back to Grace, looked at Lucy, and smiled faintly. "Ms. Clark, you didn't call me here just to show me these photos, did you? If you have something to say, please get to the point."
