Chapter 275 An Unexpected Incident at the Wrap Party 1
"Seriously? I already told Wayne I'd be there. How can I bail on him now?" Margaret's pretty face scrunched up in annoyance as her phone got snatched away.
"Did you forget you're down with a nasty cold? You still wanna go out, get blasted, and risk pneumonia? Margaret, are you trying to cut your life short?" William shoved a glass of water in her hand, his other hand holding hers as he handed over the meds.
"Fine, I'll take the meds," Margaret grumbled, grabbing the glass with her left hand, gulping some water, and popping the pills with her right. After swallowing, she shot a determined look at William. "But I'm still going to the wrap party tomorrow night."
Margaret was all about keeping her word. If she promised something, she'd follow through, no matter what. Besides, it was just a cold. No biggie.
William, this overbearing dude, always made a mountain out of a molehill.
"Not happening," William said, a mix of tension and worry in his eyes. 'This woman has no clue how to take care of herself. She's already sick and still wants to go out. What if she gets worse?'
"That's my business, not yours!" Margaret got up from the couch, ready to head back to her room.
In a flash, a strong arm wrapped around her waist, and she found herself scooped up by William.
Margaret squirmed but couldn't break free, so she wrapped her arms around his neck, frowning. "William, what the hell are you doing?"
"Locking you up," William leaned in, raising an eyebrow as he whispered in her ear, "Skip the party, and I'll let you out tomorrow."
"That's illegal!" Margaret glared at him, but her sore throat made her voice come out all soft.
Her voice made William's heart skip a beat. He gently placed her on the bed, tucking her in forcefully. "Be good, okay?"
His gentle tone caught her off guard.
"Alright, I won't go. I'm tired anyway." Margaret yawned, curling up on her side, her clear eyes blinking. "Goodnight."
"Goodnight." Seeing her finally give in, William smiled and turned to leave.
Watching his tall, straight back, Margaret's feelings were a bit mixed.
William was great in every way, except he was too controlling and always wanted to boss her around. Even though he cared about her, Margaret hated feeling caged in.
Since William wouldn't let her go to the party, she'd just have to sneak out.Anyway, he'd be at the Fisher Group for work tomorrow. She could take a sick day, chill at home, and then go wherever she wanted.
With that plan in mind, Margaret felt way better, lying on the big bed and drifting off to sleep.
The next morning, the first thing Margaret saw when she woke up was William's handsome face.
"Margaret, how are you feeling?" William asked, all concerned.
Margaret sniffled. "Much better."
"Colds don't just vanish overnight," William said, reaching out his big hand to feel Margaret's forehead. "At least you don't have a fever."
"Seriously, I'm fine. Why are you freaking out? Did you forget I know a thing or two about medicine?" Margaret said coolly. "It's getting late. You should head to work!"
"I'll stay home with you," William insisted, not feeling right about leaving her alone.
Margaret shot him a firm look. "No way, you go to work, or I'll get pissed!"
Seeing her like that, William finally stood up. "Alright, I'm going. Rest up and call me if you need anything."
"Got it," Margaret said, a bit too eagerly.
As soon as William left for work, Margaret started planning her escape to the party at the Grand Plaza Hotel.
By afternoon, she was all dressed up and ready to sneak out. But as she came downstairs, she unexpectedly bumped into a solid, warm chest.
William's voice came from above her head. "Where are you going?"
Margaret looked up, meeting his cold gaze. "I'm going to the wrap party. Don't even try to stop me."
William's face darkened. He had left work early, worried about her, only to find her trying to sneak out.
He grabbed her chin, pinning her against the door frame, getting so close their noses almost touched. Margaret's nose was wet from her cold.
Seeing her like this, William softened. He leaned in and whispered in her ear, "If you really wanna go, fine. I'll take you."
His warm breath brushed against her cheek, making Margaret blush instantly.
Seeing her blush, William's heart skipped a beat, and he leaned in to kiss her.
The familiar sensation made his breath hitch. Even though her lips were dry from the cold, they were still incredibly soft. He skillfully tried to pry her lips open, wanting more.
Margaret, still rational, quickly pushed him away, her chest heaving as she panted. "Let's just go."
She walked towards the door, and William followed her with long strides.
He drove her to the Grand Plaza Hotel.
"Margaret, we're here," William said, getting out of the car and opening the door for her. "I'll walk you in."
"No need, I'll go in myself. I'll call you when it's over," Margaret quickly shook her head, pushing William back into the car, then turned and walked towards the hotel entrance.
Watching her graceful figure disappear, William's eyes softened. Only after she was out of sight did he drive away.
This scene, however, was witnessed by Grace and Lucy, who were also at the Grand Plaza Hotel.
"Lucy, is that Margaret?" Grace pointed at her back and asked.
A sinister look flashed in Lucy's eyes. "What's she doing here?"
Grace tilted her head while thinking, then she sais, "I heard from my cousin that the 'Imperial Secrets: Palace of Roses' crew is having a wrap party here tonight."
"Is that so?" Lucy smiled coldly.
Thinking of William's gentle demeanor when he dropped Margaret off, Lucy's jealousy burned fiercely. She thought, 'Margaret, tonight I'm going to ruin you!'
