Chapter 403 Mysterious Origins

Half a month had flown by in the blink of an eye.

Lyle's condition had started to improve gradually, and he had begun to rehearse his lines again. Margaret was still juggling her time between the hospital and the company.

Juniper and Alden hadn't seen much of each other since the last time. Although Juniper still visited him in the hospital, there was a noticeable distance between them, and their conversations were polite but superficial.

During his treatment, Alden made time each day to get out of bed and walk around, as it was said to help with nerve recovery.

That day, Pryce removed the acupuncture needles from Alden's right leg, carefully placing them back into his needle case. "Alright, your leg is mostly healed now," Pryce said. "But you didn't take care of yourself before, so this is the best we can do. Come on, get out of bed and see how it feels."

Alden had been reflecting on his relationship with Juniper over the past few days. He wondered if his previous stubbornness had led them to this point. Would things have been different if he had chosen another path?

Pryce's words snapped Alden out of his thoughts. He looked at Pryce and smiled politely. "Thanks, Pryce. You've done a lot for my leg, and I get what you're saying."

Pryce shook his head slowly. "You shouldn't be thanking me. You should thank your girlfriend and Margaret. If it weren't for them pleading with me, I wouldn't have come to Ravenford to help you."

Hearing Pryce mention Juniper, Alden's expression darkened for a moment before he pulled himself together.

"Yeah, she was really good to me, but that's all in the past now."

Just as Pryce was about to say something, Margaret and Juniper walked in. Margaret saw Alden sitting up and placed a fresh bouquet on the bedside table. "Alden, how are you feeling today?" she asked.

Alden turned at the sound of her voice and was momentarily stunned when he saw Juniper. He managed a small smile.

He slowly placed his feet on the ground, supporting himself as he stood up and took a tentative step forward.

Alden's right leg had indeed improved significantly. Although he still had a slight limp, it wasn't noticeable if he walked slowly.

Juniper's eyes welled up with tears of joy. She had been waiting for the day Alden would recover.

She covered her mouth. In the past, she would have rushed to hug Alden, but now she could only stand beside Margaret, her eyes never leaving Alden. "Alden, you're finally better," she said sincerely.

"I'm so happy."

Juniper didn't say this out loud, and Alden, who had stopped in front of her, couldn't bring himself to speak either.

Margaret noticed the tension and turned to Pryce, who was packing up his things. "Pryce, are you—"

"Margaret," Pryce interrupted, standing up and walking over to her. "His leg is mostly healed now, and I've done all I can. He won't fully recover, but he can live a normal life. Now that I've helped you, I need to return to Crystal Peak."

"You're leaving so soon?" Margaret was surprised. Juniper also noticed and walked over to Pryce. "Pryce, you're leaving already? I haven't even properly thanked you for helping Alden."

"No need. I've booked a flight for tomorrow afternoon. I'm heading back."

Juniper wanted to say more, but Margaret's look stopped her.

The next afternoon, Margaret and Juniper went to the airport to see Pryce off. Margaret seemed preoccupied and couldn't hold back any longer. "Pryce, can you tell me who Betty really is?"

She had wanted to ask Pryce this for a long time, but had held back because of his mood.

If she didn't ask today, she might never get the chance.

Pryce's lips tightened at the mention of Betty. After a long silence, he finally spoke. "Actually, it's no big deal. Betty is your aunt, someone from my past."

"Aunt?"

Margaret frowned. This was the first time she had heard this term from Pryce.

Her parents had passed away, so how could she have other relatives? Pryce had never mentioned this before.

It seemed Betty was indeed connected to her. Whether she was really her aunt, Margaret couldn't be sure.

But the news was enough to shock her.

Margaret instinctively grabbed Pryce's arm, urgently asking, "Aunt? Pryce, you said Betty is my aunt? Why didn't you ever tell me before?"

Pryce remained silent. Margaret quickly thought it through. If Betty was close to Pryce, and she was her aunt, then Pryce might know her parents.

As this thought crossed her mind, Margaret asked, "If that's true, do you know my parents? How did they die? Can you tell me?"

Margaret's emotions were running high. The only thing that could make her this agitated was news about her parents.

She desperately wanted to know what had happened back then and what she had forgotten.

Margaret's voice grew louder, attracting the attention of passersby. Juniper, worried someone might recognize her and drag Margaret into a scandal, tightly held Margaret's hand and urged, "Margaret, calm down. This is an airport. Talk to Pryce calmly."

Pryce frowned at Margaret. After a long sigh, he looked down and gave a brief, dismissive answer.

"Sorry, I really don't know much about your parents."

"But..."

Margaret clearly didn't believe Pryce's response and was about to press further when the airport announcement interrupted, calling for passengers on the flight to Glacial Crest to board.

Pryce nodded. "Margaret, I have to board now. We'll talk later."

"Dr. Holt, have a safe trip."

Juniper, remaining calm, watched as Margaret reluctantly let go of Pryce, her eyes filled with disappointment. She placed a comforting hand on Margaret's shoulder and bid Pryce farewell.
