Chapter 67 Unexpected Incident During Filming
"'Ice and Fire' is all about showing off a woman's classy elegance and fiery passion. You nailed the fire part, but where's the ice?" Margaret said, cool as a cucumber.
"Yeah, I don't think so," Annie shot back, her face tight with annoyance. "Do you even know anything about shooting commercials? If not, zip it."
Margaret just called her out in front of everyone?
Margaret was just a lowly secretary, while Annie was Bruce's girlfriend.
Seeing Annie's resistance, Margaret smirked and said, "All I know is, as the endorser, you gotta nail the product's vibe. If you can't, I'll find someone who can."
"You!" Annie's face twisted in shock. She didn't expect Margaret to be so blunt.
Annie turned to Bruce, her eyes pleading. "Babe, was I really that bad?"
Bruce got up and walked over, his blue eyes serious. "Miss Scott's right. Do it again, her way."
Annie was floored. She thought Bruce would back her up and chew Margaret out, but why was he siding with her?
Annie swallowed her pride and forced a smile. "Fine, let's reshoot."
No matter how hard Annie tried, Margaret couldn't see the elegance in her. Margaret kept calling for a stop, giving Annie pointers over and over.
But Annie just got more stubborn, and it showed in her performance.
Margaret's eyes turned icy. She pulled Annie aside and showed her how it’s done.
"Lower your head a bit, raise your hand higher, and especially focus on your eyes. They need to show that noble vibe." Margaret stood next to Lyle, her left hand on his shoulder, perfectly nailing the icy allure of 'Ice and Fire.'
"Yes, that's it." The photographer snapped his fingers, loving Margaret's performance.
Margaret and Lyle looked like the perfect pair.
William, who'd been sitting quietly, suddenly stood up, his eyes cold and intense.
He walked straight to the set, pulled Lyle aside, and stood next to Margaret, saying coolly, "I'll do it."
Margaret looked at William, surprised.
What was he up to now?
He shot her a cold glance. "Isn't this a demo? I'll do it."
A cold smile played on his lips.
William thought, 'She's getting bold, cozying up to Lyle right in front of me, using work as an excuse. Does she think I'm blind?'
Margaret stayed silent.
Did this little commercial really need William to step in?
Lyle felt pretty speechless.
He was a big-time movie star. Did he really need William to show him how?
But there was no denying it—William had a natural aura. Standing on set, he grabbed everyone's attention, not losing out to Lyle at all.
"Perfect!" The photographer's eyes lit up with excitement.
Compared to Lyle, William was even a better match for Margaret.
"Alright, William. Let's leave the shooting to the main actors," Margaret said, glancing at the fuming Annie and the sulking Lyle, her eyebrows raised coolly.
Margaret was about to step off the set when suddenly, the overhead lights started shaking like crazy.
Instinctively, Margaret looked up and saw the spotlight coming down fast, right above her.
"Watch out!" Three voices shouted at once.
William, Lyle, and Bruce all yelled, but William was the quickest. He grabbed Margaret's waist, turned, and shielded her as they hit the ground.
They spun together as the light crashed, glass flying everywhere. A shard cut Margaret's leg, blood staining her white dress.
"You okay?" William's deep eyes were full of worry as he picked her up. "I'm taking you to the hospital."
Margaret squirmed a bit. "Put me down."
"Don't move!" William's tone was firm, leaving no room for argument. "You're hurt."
With everyone watching, William carried Margaret out of the studio.
Pressed against William's chest, Margaret blushed.
His strong arms held her tight, his warm breath on her skin. She could hear his steady heartbeat clearly.
As they passed the studio door, Margaret felt Lucy's hostile stare.
Margaret leaned closer to William, wrapping her arms around his neck.
"William, where are you going?" Lucy, who had been standing at the door, had seen everything.
When the light fell, Lucy felt a moment of satisfaction. If it hit Margaret, she'd be seriously hurt, maybe worse. But who would've thought William would risk his life to save her?
Now, William was holding her tight.
Jealousy burned in Lucy's heart. She wanted to grab William, but his cold glance made her back off.
William put Margaret in the car and was about to drive to the hospital when Margaret stopped him. "I'm fine. It's just a small cut. I can handle it."
But William insisted. "Better to get it checked at the hospital."
Unable to argue, Margaret let him drive her to the hospital.
The doctor checked her out. "Luckily, the cut isn't deep. Some ointment, and you'll be fine in a few days."
"Thanks." Margaret smiled. It was just a small cut, but William had made such a big deal out of it.
"Good to hear." William's tense face finally relaxed a bit when he saw it was just a minor injury.
"Don't go back to the office today. I'll take you home to rest," William said, putting Margaret back in the car. Seeing she didn't resist, his eyes softened a bit.
He leaned down to buckle her seatbelt and was about to start the car when he heard Margaret's calm voice. "William, do you think today's incident was an accident?"
