Chapter 38 You Surprised Me
Margaret cleared her throat and began to speak with a confident smile, "Now, let me introduce the overall situation and progress of the Lady Fashion project."
She held a pen in one hand and explained while drawing the entire project flowchart on the whiteboard, covering every detail comprehensively.
Her language was clear and organized, making it easy to understand.
Ella looked at Margaret in disbelief, her nails digging into her flesh without her even noticing, unable to snap out of her shock.
How could this be possible?
How could Margaret introduce the entire project so fluently and clearly without any preparation, even drawing such an exquisite flowchart?
Someone must have accidentally told her about the meeting today. That was why Margaret was so well prepared. Margaret may have been discreetly preparing for today's meeting!
Ella's original intention had been for Margaret to humiliate herself in front of the team. However, it would seem that it now offered Margaret an opportunity to shine!
She swore that one day she would drive that bitch Margaret out of the Fisher Group!
William was equally surprised, his deep eyes fixed on Margaret on the podium.
Today, Margaret was wearing a light pink professional suit with a blouse on top and a pencil skirt on the bottom. The soft lighting in the conference room seemed to enhance her presence, casting a gentle glow that made her appear both capable and refined.
Her red lips, moving with eloquence and precision as she spoke, held the room's attention effortlessly. There was an allure to her composure and confidence—something that invited intrigue and left others wanting to delve deeper into the person behind the poised exterior.
"Alright, I've finished my introduction. Does anyone have any questions?" Margaret asked with a smile, looking at the people around the conference table.
Everyone was still immersed, captivated by Margaret's brilliant explanation.
William's gaze never left Margaret from start to finish. Seeing her walk towards him after finishing her explanation, he discreetly gulped.
At that moment, William could only think of one word to describe Margaret: stunning.
She exuded a queenly poise, an air of confidence and majesty that seemed to command the room. Yet, something didn't add up. Wasn't she supposed to come from a rural background, unpolished and unknowing of such matters? This woman standing before him was anything but simple.
It appeared his fiancée was more complicated than he had thought.
"Mr. Fisher, do you have any questions?" Margaret asked with a faint smile, calm and elegant.
William's deep gaze intensified, and he said in a low voice, "No."
"Since no one has any questions, let's have this period's designer, Eloise, introduce the specific designs." Margaret returned to her seat and signaled Eloise to present the design drawings.
Eloise snapped out of it and unfolded the design drawings one by one for William to see. "This period's theme is 'Ice and Fire.' We will launch a set of fine jewelry, including necklaces, rings, and bracelets. These are my design drawings."
William frowned, clearly dissatisfied with the design drawings.
He glanced at Margaret and asked in a low voice, "Margaret, what do you think?"
Margaret glanced at the design drawings. The patterns were intricately and carefully drawn, incorporating many trendy elements and clearly designed with effort.
However, in Margaret's view, these were mediocre and lacked distinctiveness.
Judging by William's expression, he seemed to think the same.
But why did he have to ask for her opinion? Wasn't this obviously setting her up as an enemy?
Margaret glared at the cunning man, curled her lips, and spoke honestly, "Lady Fashion is targeted at wealthy women aged 30-50, so our designs need to highlight their elegance and sophistication. Eloise's design drawings are beautiful, but they are too cluttered, flashy but impractical, and lack soul."
Hearing Margaret's words, Eloise's face changed.
Margaret, however, remained merciless. "Simply said, they are excessively ostentatious. The most essential thing for a designer to do while creating flawless design drawings is to put their heart and soul into it, which will give the design a distinct personality."
After Margaret finished speaking, even Olivia's face couldn't hold up.
Although Eloise was the main designer for this period, Olivia, as the head of the jewelry design department, had given Eloise a lot of advice and had personally approved the final design before presenting it to William.
Now, being criticized by Margaret in front of William, it wasn't just a blow to Eloise—it was an embarrassment to the entire design department.
Olivia was about to retort, but William agreed. "Indeed, it's vulgar."
He hadn't expected Margaret's insights to align perfectly with his own.
He squinted slightly, wondering how Margaret knew so much about design.
"Then, we'll go back and revise it." Seeing that William had agreed to Margaret's comments, Olivia forced a smile and looked at Eloise. "Next time, put more effort into it, okay?"
Eloise blushed and nodded.
"Next week, the person in charge of Lady Fashion will come to Ravenford, along with their CEO. We need to present a flawless design," William said, his expression as cold as ever.
"We will do our best!" Olivia gritted her teeth and promised to deliver a perfect design.
"Then I'll leave it to you." William glanced at Margaret and raised an eyebrow, "Margaret, you need to review it carefully."
Margaret was speechless. What did this have to do with her?
She wasn't a designer, and she didn't draw the design.
But as the project leader, she could only nod with a cold face.
The meeting ended, and everyone stood up to leave the conference room.
Margaret packed her things and was about to leave when William's magnetic voice suddenly came from behind. "Margaret, please stay."
She paused and turned around. "What is it?"
William took a step forward, stood in front of Margaret, and looked down at her with a faint gaze. "Do you understand jewelry design?"
"A little." Margaret smiled slightly.
She was truly skilled in fashion design, but by extension, jewelry design was also easy for her.
"You surprise me." William remarked, his deep eyes betraying a hint of curiosity.
Margaret shrugged and smiled without saying anything.
Was he surprised?
If William knew her true identity, he would surely be shocked.
Ignoring William, Margaret turned and went to the restroom.
As soon as she entered, she heard a low female voice from inside, seemingly Ella's, vaguely mentioning her name.
Margaret's hearing was always sharper than others, so she listened carefully.
Margaret’s acute hearing picked up Ella’s voice, filled with jealousy and anger. "Miss Clark, don't worry. This time, the plan is foolproof. I will definitely drive Margaret out of the Fisher Group!"
Miss Clark? Was Ella talking to Lucy?
Ella and Lucy were colluding?
And from the sound of it, they had designed another trap to frame her?
Margaret narrowed her eyes. She never liked getting involved in conflicts, but if someone provoked her, she wouldn't back down!
