Chapter 486 The Best Man in the World
Zane's eyes were brimming with emotion as he stared at Margaret. "Margaret, just give me a chance to show you who I really am. I think you'll see I'm a better fit for you than William."
"That's not necessary," Margaret replied, rubbing her temples, trying to keep her cool. "I've already found my true love, and that's William. We love each other and can't be separated. Prince Zane, you're amazing; I'm sure you'll find someone who's perfect for you."
Margaret's clear rejection hit Zane hard.
He had always been the one to turn others down; no woman had ever rejected him before!
Margaret was the first and only one!
The sting of rejection was painful for Zane.
But along with the pain, it also fueled his determination.
He lifted his head, his blue eyes filled with resolve. "Margaret, you may not like me, but you can't stop me from liking you. I have the right to pursue you!"
Margaret felt a headache coming on. Why was Zane so stubborn?
Why couldn't he understand what she was saying?
Unsurprisingly, the matter quickly became a trending topic.
"Royal heir Prince Zane publicly confesses to Starlight Entertainment CEO Margaret Scott!"
The comments below were a mix of envy and criticism towards Margaret.
"Oh my God, it's really Prince Zane! The prince is so handsome and romantic. Margaret is so lucky!"
"Isn't Margaret supposed to be engaged to William Fisher? How did she end up with Prince Zane?"
"That's easy. Margaret is just a flirt who hooks up with men everywhere. She's involved with multiple men—Lyle, William Fisher, Prince Zane—they're all bewitched by her!"
"Shameless!"
At the Fisher Group's CEO office.
William stared at his phone screen, his handsome face darkening as he read the news about Zane's proposal to Margaret.
Especially that large photo of Zane kneeling on one knee, holding a bouquet of roses while Margaret reached out to help him.
The photo was taken in such an ambiguous way that it made William's eyes burn with jealousy.
"Mr. Fisher, there's a document that needs your signature." Peter entered the room, immediately sensing the tension in the air.
Peter had also seen the news about Margaret and Zane.
Ever since Zane showed up at the Fisher Group and declared war on William, William's mood had been sour.
Of course, Margaret was so outstanding and eye-catching that she always had various suitors.
First, it was Lyle, and now a prince had appeared—a formidable rival.
"Get those trending topics taken down," William said coldly, glancing at Peter.
"Yes, Mr. Fisher." Peter's face tightened, and he quickly agreed respectfully.
That evening, when Margaret returned to Water Moon Estate, she found William sitting on the living room sofa, reading a financial magazine with a dark expression.
She walked over and sat beside him. "Did you have the trending topics taken down?"
William put down the magazine and glanced sideways at Margaret. "What do you think?"
Feeling the strong jealousy emanating from William, Margaret chuckled softly and wrapped her arms around his neck. "I don't know what Zane is up to. I've already clearly rejected him."
"If he keeps bothering you, I won't be so nice," William's eyes narrowed, his tone carrying a hint of danger.
Even if Zane was royalty, William had ways to send him packing.
"What are you planning to do?" Margaret was startled and quickly said, "Don't do anything rash. Zane's just being childish, thinking that what he can't have is the best. I won't pay him any attention. In a few days, he'll lose interest and go back to Aelthoros. After all, with his noble status and excellent qualities, he can have any woman he wants."
Margaret didn't believe Zane had deep feelings for her. They had only met for the first time at Michelle's birthday party. How could he have strong feelings for her in such a short time?
Zane's pride was simply hurt. As a member of the Aelthoros royal family, he was used to being adored by everyone, but she had rejected him publicly, and he couldn't accept it.
If she kept rejecting Zane, he would eventually lose interest and move on.
"Zane is noble and excellent?" William seized on those words, his face displeased. "Is that how you see him?"
Margaret was speechless.
William was jealous again!
"In my heart, Mr. Fisher, you are the best man in the world." Margaret met William's deep gaze, her lips parting slightly as she spoke earnestly.
This statement pleased William.
He reached out and pulled Margaret close, sealing her enticingly sweet lips with his own.
They kissed for a long time before Margaret pushed William away. "Alright, I can't breathe."
William's eyes were dark, flickering with intense passion. "Margaret, after we get engaged next week, let's get our marriage certificate. I want you to be completely mine. I can't wait any longer!"
Margaret's face flushed. "We'll see."
After that, Zane practically showed up at Starlight Entertainment like clockwork, either at noon or in the afternoon, always bringing chocolates or flowers, or waiting in Margaret's office to talk to her and try to ask her out.
But Margaret always rejected him, sometimes politely, sometimes directly, without exception.
After a few days, Zane started to look dejected, but his desire for Margaret only grew stronger.
One day, Lucy happened to be walking by Starlight Entertainment and saw the downcast Zane coming out of the building, holding a bouquet of red roses and muttering to himself, "What does Margaret like? How can I win her over?"
Zane brushed past Lucy, and she overheard his words. She stopped in her tracks and half-turned to ask, "Did you just say Margaret?"
Zane had learned English and could understand her. He paused and turned to look at the unfamiliar woman. "Do you know her?"
With that simple question, Lucy's suspicions were confirmed. She stepped forward, recognizing the nobleman who had once been in the news with Margaret. A plan began to form in her mind.
She looked at Zane, a knowing smile playing on her lips.
Her gaze lingered on the red roses in his hand for just a moment before she raised her eyes and said, "Are you trying to win Margaret over? I happen to know her, and I can help you."
