Chapter 461 Argue with Reason

Margaret heard the noise and instinctively turned her head. Zane also looked in the direction of the sound, a hint of confusion in his eyes.

When Margaret saw William approaching, she instinctively breathed a sigh of relief. It seemed like she could safely get out of this situation tonight, but—

"What are you doing here?" Margaret asked, puzzled. "I haven't even called you yet."

William stormed over, his jealousy flaring up when he saw Zane talking to Margaret. He had no intention of explaining anything to her. He simply grabbed Margaret's hand, pulling her behind him, and said in a low voice, "Let's go. We're going home."

Margaret, not fully understanding what was happening, was pulled along by William. She sighed inwardly, realizing that William was jealous again. She decided to deal with it later at home.

Just as she was about to leave with William, Zane, who only saw William as a stranger, felt uneasy and called out, "You can't take her!"

William stopped and turned around, looking at Zane with a dangerous glint in his eyes. He understood what Zane was saying perfectly.

"What did you say?"

The commotion drew the attention of some guests leaving the party. Michelle, who had just seen off a friend, stood on the steps, watching William intently.

[He's here for Margaret?]

Zane, aware of the onlookers, wasn't intimidated. His gaze shifted from William to Margaret. He wanted Margaret, not just physically, but emotionally as well.

"I said, let her go. I knew her first, and she doesn't even know you!"

Zane stood his ground, trying to argue his case.

"She doesn't know me?" William was momentarily stunned, then let out a laugh. He hadn't attended the party to avoid making Margaret jealous, and now he was hearing this absurd claim.

Where did this guy get his confidence?

William jabbed a finger into Zane's shoulder, glaring at him. "Did she tell you she doesn't know me, or did you just assume that? Listen, Margaret is my fiancée. I don't care what you think, but you better stay away from her."

With that, William tightened his grip on Margaret and walked away.

Zane, still in shock, watched them leave, feeling a pang of disappointment. He turned around and saw Michelle standing outside. She looked away, heartbroken, and went back into the house.

William walked quickly, almost too fast for Margaret, who was wearing high heels. She struggled to keep up and called out, "William, slow down! I can't keep up."

Despite his anger, William didn't want Margaret to suffer. He slowed his pace but remained silent and sullen as they got into the car.

Margaret sat in the passenger seat, feeling uneasy. She was familiar with William's reactions but was still puzzled.

"William, what's going on? Why did you come to get me?"

William didn't answer, driving fast. When they got home, he barely let her close the door before he grabbed her face and kissed her forcefully.

Margaret couldn't avoid it and instinctively let out a moan, tasting blood from her bitten lip.

William finally let go, breathing heavily, his eyes red. Margaret pushed his hand away, annoyed by his behavior.

"What's wrong with you today?"

After the kiss, William felt a bit calmer. He needed to confirm that Margaret was his.

He wiped his lip and said, "If I hadn't come, who knows what Zane would've done. You're not allowed to dance with anyone else. I can't stand seeing them touch you, got it?"

Margaret realized what was going on and felt both amused and exasperated. It was just a dance. Did William think she couldn't handle herself?

She sighed, looking away in frustration. "Can you stop being so jealous? It was just a dance with Zane. You're being ridiculous."

Margaret was fed up with William's mood swings and didn't bother to placate him. She walked to the study, saying, "I'm going to work on my designs."

William was left alone on the couch, stewing in his frustration. He looked back, feeling a mix of anger and helplessness. But lovers' quarrels never last long.

As it neared eleven, William decided to make peace. He went to the kitchen, cooked some noodles, and brought them to Margaret in the study. She was engrossed in her work, but his words caught her attention.

"Alright, stop being mad. You didn't eat much at the party, right? Eat this before you keep working. I can't have my wife getting sick."

Margaret, still a bit upset, paused and looked at William. "You're not mad anymore?"

William nodded slightly, sitting beside her. "I was just jealous. I've calmed down. You can't blame me. I'm protective of the woman I love. I don't want anyone else getting any ideas."

Margaret couldn't help but smile a little, feeling her frustration melt away.
