Chapter 247 The Unexpected Incident at the Opening Ceremony 1
Facing William's intense stare, Margaret took a few deep breaths and switched gears. "C'mon, let's bounce. We're gonna be late."
She spun around and made a beeline for the door, not daring to linger. If she stayed even a second longer, she might just cave in and say yes to him. But now wasn't the time. She wasn't ready to give in that easily.
Watching Margaret practically bolt, William's eyes darkened a bit. He took a long stride and followed her.
When they hit the underground garage, Margaret hopped into William's car. He fired up the engine and headed towards Starlight Entertainment.
The ride was dead silent, and the vibe was kinda awkward. Margaret turned to stare out the window.
The three months Xavier had asked for were almost up. She had no clue what she was gonna do, whether to stay in Ravenford or jet-set around the world with him, back to their carefree days.
Rubbing her temples, she suddenly heard William's clear voice. "We're here."
Just as she was about to get out, William grabbed her arm.
"What's up?" Margaret turned back, surprised.
William's eyes were deep, and his handsome face showed a hint of playful grievance. "Margaret, are you really not gonna say yes to me?"
Her heart skipped a beat. After a moment, she said, "Let's talk about it after Bradley gets better, okay?"
At the mention of Bradley, William's face turned a bit colder, but he nodded slightly.
"Don't worry, Bradley will be fine," Margaret reassured him. "I keep in touch with Dr. Hawthorne every day. His condition's stable. Pryce said in a few days, Bradley would get the final treatment. He'll definitely wake up!"
"Okay." The tension in William's face eased a bit. He believed Bradley would be better.
"Alright, I'm heading in." Margaret smiled.
"I'll come with you." William took a long stride, not giving her a chance to refuse. He was determined not to let Lyle and Margaret have any alone time. Under his watchful eyes, there was no way she'd do anything with Lyle.
Margaret was speechless and thought, 'Since when did the busy William have so much free time? Attending an opening ceremony that has nothing to do with him?'
After the awards ceremony that night, everyone at Starlight Entertainment knew Margaret was the boss. Seeing her and William together, the employees greeted them, "Ms. Scott. Mr. Fisher."
Margaret gave a faint smile and nodded as she walked towards the elevator. Watching their backs, the employees started gossiping.
"What's the deal between our boss and Mr. Fisher?"
"Isn't there a rumor that Mr. Fisher's been chasing Ms. Scott?"
"There's also a rumor that Lyle's after Ms. Scott too! I think Lyle and Ms. Scott are a better match. He's handsome, rich, and super sweet to her."
William heard every word, and his face turned a bit cold.
"The elevator's here." Margaret, sensing his displeasure, pursed her lips.
The two of them took the elevator up to the top floor.
"Margaret, you're here," Lyle greeted, his face lighting up with a smile. But when he saw William trailing behind her, his smile faltered a bit.
"William, you should head back. I need to get styled," Margaret said, then made her way to the dressing room.
When she emerged, she found William still there, leaning against the doorframe. Margaret frowned. "Why are you still here?"
"Here to support you," William replied casually.
He couldn't help but be amazed by the sight of her. Margaret was rocking a purple dress that made her skin look flawless. Her hair was up, showing off her sexy collarbone, and the fishtail design of the dress hugged her curves perfectly. Her eyes were bright, with a slight blush on her brows, looking elegant, confident, and totally stunning.
Feeling his intense gaze, Margaret turned her face away, a bit uncomfortable.
Just then, Lyle stepped out of another dressing room.
Margaret smiled at him. "Lyle, it's about time. Let's go."
Lyle's gentle eyes were glued to her. "Okay."
Watching them leave side by side, William's face turned colder.
The opening ceremony was in the grand hall of Starlight Entertainment. This was Margaret's first time attending one. Usually, Lyle handled everything, and she stayed behind the scenes.
But now, everyone knew she was the boss. Her presence was the main attraction for promoting "Imperial Secrets: Palace of Roses." So, today's event was buzzing with excitement.
Besides the cast and crew of "Imperial Secrets: Palace of Roses," there were business elites and high society members. Reporters had arrived early, eager to catch any juicy news.
Rumor had it that today's ceremony would feature some big names, including Lyle and Margaret. The reporters were ready, not wanting to miss a thing.
When Margaret and Lyle showed up, the place went wild.
"It's Lyle and Ms. Scott," someone shouted.
All eyes turned to them. Then another voice yelled, " Mr. Fisher is here too!"
Everyone looked towards the entrance.
William walked into the grand hall, instantly grabbing everyone's attention. The reporters were buzzing with excitement.
Lyle was the dashing, popular Best Actor, Margaret was the stunning company boss, and William had the powerful presence of Vogue Vision's top dog.
The dynamics between these three were complicated and intriguing. Margaret had been linked to both Lyle and William recently. In short, today's opening ceremony was going to be one for the books.
