Chapter 106 The Dowry Belonging to the True Heiress

Erica suddenly looked forward to the engagement banquet the day after tomorrow.

She immediately took out her phone to call Edward and she quickly smiled and said as he answered quickly. "Edward, have you been busy with work lately? Do you really need to personally get so involved in the acquisition of a small company, keeping you so busy?"

Erica knew that Edward came to Lindwell this time to personally follow up on the previous acquisition event. It seemed like there was something else to deal with which is why he attached so much importance to this matter.

Erica felt a bit sorry for Susanna's good luck. If it weren't for Edward acquiring this company, Susanna would definitely have been tormented by that old man's daughter, while only Allison would have been affected.

Edward replied calmly, "This is the group's arrangement."

Of course, he couldn't tell Erica that he came here to visit his own sister Susanna and personally take care of this company for her.

Without much questioning, Erica quickly said, "Edward, you should be done with your work, right? The day after tomorrow is my engagement ceremony with Aaron. You and Aviana should have time to attend, right?"

"Sure."

After some thought, Edward said, "It's just that after your engagement ceremony, I have something to tell you."

Erica suspected. "Edward, what do you want to tell me? I'm so curious as you say so. Why not tell me now?"

Edward coldly refused, "It's not the right time yet."

Erica's eyelids twitched several times, and she could only temporarily suppress her curiosity. "Edward, I will be getting married shortly after my engagement. Grandma promised that if I got married, she would give me all those collected things as my dowry."
Edward frowned, voicing, "No."

Erica looked surprised. "Why not? Grandma promised."

"Erica, you should know that this promise was made to her own granddaughter. But you are not." Edward replied calmly.

Erica was suddenly tearful, crying. "Edward, after so many years, am I not worthy of being your sister?"

There must be many people who envy her for having so much dowry since she had boasted to Elaine a long time ago.

What should she do now without Edward’s permission?

If she got married with nothing, wouldn't she be ridiculed by everyone?

Edward said calmly, "Erica, I have been generous to you all these years. You shouldn't forget our initial deal, should you?"

Erica was stunned, of course she hadn't forgotten.

But years of luxury as the cherished Jones heiress made her forget her past, accepting herself as the legitimate successor. After all, the real heiress would never return to the Jones family.
Erica's expression turned cold, but her tone remained the same, even with a hint of pity. "Edward, I haven't forgotten. I also know how I owe my current status. But now, I am still the heiress of the Jones family, at least on the surface. If my dowry is too shabby, won't it make people laugh at the Jones family in Novaria?"

"Don't worry about the dowry. I won't treat you unfairly when the time comes. As for Grandma's collections, Just forget it. Those are what she cares about the most."

Moreover, now that they had found their real sister, those things were all meant for Susanna.

Suppressing her feelings of discontent, Erica replied, "Okay, Edward. I understand. Please remember to come the day after tomorrow."

Edward said with no feeling. "We will both be there, with Arthur."

"That's great, I thought you wouldn't come. Thank you, Edward."

Erica didn't expect Arthur to come as well, which was actually a bit surprising. It seemed that Edward was indeed a man of his word.

After the call ended, Erica's smile disappeared when she thought about the dowry.

She smashed everything in the room fiercely, her whole demeanor becoming paranoid and crazy. She dwelled on, ‘Why shouldn't I have those properties?’

‘I was also a young lady of the Jones family. I had already worked hard enough, spending so many years coddling that crazy old lady in the Jones family.’

‘Were they still hoping for the true heiress of the Jones family to return?’

It was never going to happen in this lifetime!

After sitting down, Erica covered her face, finally revealing a cold and indifferent smile. She considered, ‘It seemed that for now, I could only temporarily agree for letting Edward and Aviana, as well as Arthur and Austin, attend my engagement ceremony first.’

She could manage it as for the dowry for the wedding later
.
It wouldn't violate the agreement between her and Edward if Grandma would take the initiative to give dowry to her.

The true heiress could never return in this lifetime; she was the just rightful heiress of the Jones family!

Susanna sat in her office designing the scene of the engagement. When she saw the romantic and beautiful design drawings, a hint of envy appeared on her face.

She had also thought about what her wedding scene would be like. Unfortunately, it was rushed when she married Aaron. There was no wedding ceremony, not even a proper process.

After all, Aaron was lying unconscious in bed at the time, in danger of his life at any moment.

She had secretly loved Aaron at that time, so she had no regrets marrying him. But who could have predicted the current outcome!

Susanna thought, 'Indeed, it's true to keep a distance from someone you love.'

If time could be turned back, she would definitely go back and give her past self a slap for being so kind-hearted. What did Aaron's life or death have to do with her?

Pitying a man was the beginning of misfortune!

She was a living example of that now!

After cursing Aaron several times, Susanna felt somewhat relieved. She touched her abdomen. "Baby, Mommy doesn't dislike you, even though I can't stand your father, I actually quite like you."

At that moment, she received Madison’s call. "Susanna, I've been to the government compensation office this afternoon, meeting the person in charge of distributing compensation. They said we have to wait until tomorrow to sign together, and they also said that someone has already signed for this house we have."

Susanna questioned in hurry. "How is that possible? Edward had arranged everything, who went to sign?"

"I asked the neighbors, they said they saw Grace and Andrew here this afternoon, they must have signed. What should we do? Are they trying to take away our house?" Madison uttered anxiously.

Susanna stood up and said as she walked. "Madison, don't worry, I'm coming right away."

She left the studio, following up the Dick. "Susanna, where are you going?"

"I have something urgent at home."

"I'll drive you, and I'm off work now anyway. Don't be polite with me."

Susanna was worried about Madison, consenting to get into Dick's car, rushing to the old neighborhood.

Just as they arrived outside the old neighborhood, Susanna saw Madison being bullied by Grace and Andrew. She coldly approached. "Stop, what are you doing?"

Grace sneered, "Susanna, let me tell you, I've already gone to sign. This government compensation house is ours now. Don't think about snatching it from us."

Susanna frowned, uttering, "It's impossible, this house is not in your name, how could you have gone to sign?"

Dick walked over. "Susanna, take care of your aunt first, I'll go to the government compensation office and ask."

Grace and Andrew locked eyes for a moment, coldly hummed, "It's no use asking, we've both signed. We're leaving now, waiting for this money to be deposited into our bank accounts."

Susanna comforted Madison, and soon Dick came out of the office, looking not very pleased. "Susanna, did you offend someone?"
