Chapter 314 What's Your Mom's Name?
Vivian shot a look at Aaron, her eyes full of questions. She still had a hunch that Lillian's background had something to do with Susanna.
Sam hesitated for a sec before saying, "Honestly, it's kinda hard to say right now. Let's chat about it after the auction."
Aaron glanced at Vivian and said, "Make sure she doesn't go off the rails."
"Aaron, don't worry. I'll keep an eye on her." Vivian stood by the door, watching Aaron and Sam leave. The smile on her face vanished in an instant.
'If this Lillian really is Aaron's kid, what about my son? No way, I gotta dig into Lillian's background,' Vivian thought, making up her mind.
She turned and walked into the hotel suite, spotting Lillian by the sofa. She smiled. "Hey kid, who's your mom?"
"My mommy is a beauty."
"No, I mean, what's your mom's name?"
Lillian tilted her head and pouted. "Bad woman!"
Vivian's face tightened a bit, but with the bodyguard around, she held back. "Hey kiddo, I just wanna know your mom's name so I can help you find your family. You can't always rely on Aaron, right? How does asking your name make me a bad person?"
"My mommy said it's rude to ask other kids' names out of the blue. Only bad people do that," Lillian shot back.
Vivian was taken aback by Lillian's sharp reply. Glancing at the charging smartwatch, she quipped, "Your watch should have your mom's contact info, right?"
Lillian immediately clutched the watch tightly, her eyes full of suspicion.
Vivian saw through it and reached out to grab the smartwatch. "I'll help you contact your mom to come and get you."
'And find out who this kid's mom really is!' Vivian thought.
Lillian cried out, "No, give me back my watch, bad woman!"
As soon as Vivian got the smartwatch, Lillian reached out to grab it. During the struggle, the smartwatch slipped from their hands and landed right in a cup on the table.
Vivian frowned. "This isn't my fault. You tried to grab it, and it accidentally fell into the water."
Lillian's eyes welled up with tears. "Bad woman!" Her trembling hand reached for the now dark smartwatch, but it stayed unresponsive.
Vivian quickly distanced herself from the blame. "I mean, aren't smartwatches supposed to be waterproof? Is yours just that crappy?"
Lillian reached into her tiny backpack and hurled something at Vivian, causing a sudden stinging sensation in her eyes. Tears streamed down her face, blurring her vision.
As Vivian struggled with her impaired sight, Lillian brandished a weapon and fired. Pain surged through Vivian's body, and in her frenzy, she stumbled onto a mousetrap.
With a piercing scream, Vivian collapsed to the ground, desperately urging the nearby bodyguard, "Hurry up and hold this kid down. Did you not see what she just did!?"
The bodyguard hesitated for a moment, as his orders were to protect the child.
Lillian then put down her weapon, wiped her tears with her small hand, and said in her sweet childlike voice, "Sir, I wanna find Aaron."
"Mr. Abbott is busy right now. Do you need me to contact him for you?"
Lillian took out her smartwatch. "I want to get it fixed, or I won't be able to contact my mommy."
Seeing Lillian's tears, the bodyguard's heart softened. "Alright, kiddo, let's head out and see if we can get this thing fixed."
They left the suite just like that, leaving Vivian sprawled on the floor, fuming. Was Lillian some kind of devil?
——
Susanna had been up all night, barely catching a wink.
Every half hour, she tried calling Lillian, but the phone was always off. She couldn't get through.
With dark circles under her eyes, she looked at Abel. "Still no sign of her?"
"Ms. Jones, all the surveillance from yesterday at Radiant Valley Hotel has been wiped. They claim it was an accident, but it seems fishy. Lillian was at the hotel yesterday, so if we had the footage, we could track her," Abel replied.
Susanna rubbed her temples and closed her laptop. She had tried to recover the footage, but the folks at Radiant Valley had clearly covered their tracks.
Lillian is only four. If she really made it to the hotel, where could she have gone?
Suppressing her frustration, Susanna said, "Then search the hotel rooms one by one. I can't accept that we can't locate a child. Also, send a team to investigate the black market near Radiant Valley. Look for any signs of human trafficking."
Radiant Valley was a chaotic place; anything could happen.
Abel continued, "But we found out why the footage was deleted. Seems Connor's sister had a thing for a guy, but his illegitimate daughter showed up. The kid was taken by that woman, and to cover it up, they deleted the footage."
Susanna's face changed as she remembered something. "Is that guy named Sam?"
Abel was stunned. "Ms. Jones, how do you know the name Sam?"
Could it be that Ms. Jones remembered?
"Just answer me. Is his name Sam?" Susanna asked sharply.
"Yes."
Susanna paused. "Then that's it. Edward and the others have always kept me from going to Lindwell and wouldn't tell me who the kids' father is. I overheard Brian mention this name once. He must be my kids' father."
Taylor looked surprised. "Ms. Jones, are you sure you didn't mishear?"
"I heard it clearly. The name is Sam. I didn't expect Lillian to remember it too. She must have come to Radiant Valley to find Sam. Damn it! Is Sam also in Radiant Valley?"
Susanna's eyes turned cold as she ordered, "Take me to find that woman and the guy named Sam!"
"They're both in the casino in the basement!" Abel said.
Susanna left the room with a cold expression, exuding a hint of hostility. She headed to the basement, her face stern, quickly searching for her targets.
Dressed in a purple camisole, paired with a loosely draped purple jacket that cinched her slender frame, she exuded determination.
Upon her arrival, a man immediately showed a look of amazement and approached her. "Miss, are you here alone?"
Susanna ignored him and kept walking, soon spotting Connor's sister flirting with two men in front of her.
One of the men was the same one who had tried to flirt with her in the lobby yesterday.
What a coincidence.
She walked over in her high heels, her steps swaying gracefully.
