Chapter 437 What Should Come Has Finally Come
Susanna heard what Austin said and immediately stuck out her tongue, looking all guilty. "Austin, it's a long story."
"Well, I got all the time in the world. Spill it."
Austin was itching to know why Susanna kept Aaron around as a bodyguard. He was worried she still had a thing for Aaron.
Susanna took a moment to gather her thoughts. "At first, I went to the hospital to get Aaron to leave. But then, just for kicks, I kept him around as a guard. I never thought he'd be so stubborn, refusing to leave and sticking around."
She just wanted to mess with Aaron, which was why she kept him as a bodyguard.
"Susanna, Aaron's a sly one. Don't let him fool you. It's safer to cut him loose. What do you think?"
"I get it, Austin. So, is Aaron still alive?"
Austin snapped, "Why do you care about someone who doesn't matter? Whether he's alive or dead has nothing to do with you."
Susanna sighed and replied, "Austin, it's not that I care about him. He's the biological father of the kid; he can't just die."
"If Aaron wasn't the kid's dad, he'd be long gone by now."
Hearing this, Susanna let out a small sigh of relief, feeling reassured that Aaron must still be alive.
"Susanna, listen to me. Don't let Aaron stay by your side anymore. He's bad news. Every time he's around, trouble follows. Stay away from him, got it?"
Susanna raised her hand and swore, "Okay, Austin, I promise. I'll definitely stay away from him from now on."
Seeing her swear, Austin's tone softened. "Susanna, you hungry? I'll grab you some dinner."
"I'd love a donut, thanks, Austin!"
Not long after Austin left, Marcus walked in. "Ms. Jones, need anything?"
Susanna lowered her voice. "How's Aaron doing?"
Marcus hesitated. "Honestly, not great."
Hearing this, Susanna got a bit nervous. "Did my brother and the others mess him up?"
"Not exactly, but he was close to being messed up."
Marcus recounted what had happened outside the operating room.
When Susanna heard Marcus say that Austin almost stabbed Aaron with a scalpel, her feelings got all mixed up. "He didn't dodge?"
Susanna thought to herself, 'Is Aaron really not afraid of dying?'
Her brothers really hated him and wouldn't hold back.
"Yeah, Mr. Abbott's actually pretty skilled, but at that moment, he didn't move at all, insisting on seeing you. Quite brave!"
A hint of sarcasm flashed in Susanna's eyes. "You think what he did was really touching?"
Marcus paused and replied, "Given Mr. Abbott's status, it's not easy for him to go to such lengths."
After all, rich and powerful guys could have any woman they wanted. It was rare for them to risk their lives like that.
Susanna said, "I remember everything I went through with the Abbott family now. Back then, Aaron ignored me, treated me like dirt, and finally kicked me out with divorce papers. I can't let that go."
Marcus immediately said seriously, "You really remember everything from back then. Do you feel uncomfortable in any way?"
"Yeah, I feel uncomfortable. I want everyone in the Abbott family to pay the price!"
"Ms. Jones, do you want to see a shrink?"
Susanna shook her head. "Nah, no need. I don't have any psychological issues. Back then, Edward and the others made up that I had problems 'cause they were worried I still had feelings for Aaron."
Now that Susanna remembered everything, she knew she didn't have depression.
She was perfectly normal.
Finally, Marcus hesitated and continued, "Ms. Jones, Mr. Abbott is still waiting outside the hospital. Mr. Austin Jones and Mr. Daniel Jones had the bodyguards kick him out, but Mr. Abbott refused to leave, insisting on knowing your condition."
"He's still outside the hospital?"
"Yeah, what do you plan to do about it?"
"This is easy. Just let him in to see me."
Marcus hesitated for a moment and said, "Ms. Jones, what if your brothers find out?"
"Don't worry, Austin went to get me a donut and won't be back for a while. I'll make it quick and have Aaron leave before Austin returns."
Susanna looked serious. After four years, some things needed to be resolved.
Marcus quickly went outside and found Aaron sitting on a bench on the first floor. Aaron was covered in injuries and looked disheveled, with no patients daring to approach him.
Noticing Marcus, Aaron immediately asked nervously, "Is she awake?"
"Ms. Jones is awake, and she wants to see you."
"Where? Take me to her right away."
Seeing Aaron so anxious, Marcus hesitated for a moment and said, "Ms. Jones has regained her memory and remembers everything she went through with the Abbott family. Mr. Abbott, I advise you not to get your hopes up."
Hearing this, Aaron hesitated. "You said she regained her memory?"
"That's right."
At this moment, Aaron paused. As he walked into the elevator, he said nothing.
But he remembered the scenes of Susanna's life with the Abbott family. His hands clenched slowly.
Soon, Aaron pushed open the door and walked into the ward.
Susanna leaned against the headboard, looking at Aaron as he walked in. After four years, his appearance hadn't changed much, but his eyes were deeper, making him look more mature.
He was still so handsome and elegant, so attention-grabbing.
Susanna took a deep breath and said calmly, "Long time no see."
Aaron saw the bump on Susanna's forehead and asked, "Does it still hurt?"
"It's okay. It's not as bad as remembering everything I went through with the Abbott family four years ago."
Her words carried a hint of accusation.
"I'm sorry. I didn't do well enough before, but from now on—"
"Enough, Aaron. What's the point of saying this now? I didn't call you here to hear these words."
Aaron paused, looking at Susanna. Her expression and demeanor were completely different, with a hint of distance.
For some reason, seeing Susanna like this made him feel a bit panicked.
When Susanna didn't recognize him, treating him like a stranger, he had never been as nervous as he was now.
Aaron was silent for a moment, then said hoarsely, "What do you want to say?"
He had a premonition that he wasn't going to like the answer.
