Chapter 297 Find a Man to Join the Jones Family

Susanna even heard a girl next to her scream, "Oh my God, he's so hot! Mom!"

"See, I told you he'd be a showstopper," the mom teased. "Regretting not glamming up now, huh?"

"Mom, is it too late to put on makeup now?" With a quick move, the girl whipped out her compact mirror and expertly applied a touch of lipstick.

Justin sneered, "You call that handsome?"

The mom and daughter in front turned their heads to see who had the nerve to say that. When they saw six very good-looking guys, they were totally blown away.

While the middle-aged woman shot a curious glance at Susanna without a word, the young girl's eyes landed on Justin. "Wait, are you Zachary from Novaria?"

"Yeah, that's me," Justin confirmed.

"I can't believe I'm seeing my idol. Mom, pinch me to see if I'm dreaming. Why didn't you remind me?"

The middle-aged woman was a bit annoyed. "Sweetheart, what's wrong with you? Didn't you just say Mr. Abbott was handsome?"

"But my idol is irreplaceable in my heart!" The young woman looked at Justin excitedly, "Can I take a photo with you?"

"Sure, but you'll have to wait a bit," Justin replied.

"Okay, no problem." The young girl eagerly whipped out her phone to share the exciting news with her friends. Today's party just got a whole lot more thrilling - she had actually come face-to-face with her idol!

The middle-aged woman could only sigh. She had initially hoped her daughter could attend the party and maybe even make a connection with the recently divorced Aaron.

Observing all this, Susanna was no longer surprised.

Back when she was Mrs. Abbott, every social gathering seemed to have heirs vying for contention, questioning her worthiness of Aaron. However, such trivialities held no sway over her anymore.

Maria scanned the room, her voice steady as she shared, "I was seriously ill and almost died, so I held this small party to celebrate that I can live a few more years and to thank the person who made my successful surgery possible. This child is kind and sincere. Despite having a tough time in the Abbott family, she still forgave and convinced her family to perform the surgery for me."

Susanna felt a wave of emotion wash over her at Maria's words.

Approaching Susanna, Maria gently grasped her hand. "Susanna was once Mrs. Abbott of the Abbott family, but now she has become the heir of the Jones family. I am genuinely happy for her. She will forever hold a place in the Abbott family's esteem, and I hope everyone will take care of her for the sake of the Abbott family."

Applause erupted from the side.

Someone couldn't help but say, "Since Mrs. Maria Abbott likes Susanna so much, why not let them remarry?"

"Yes, that would be a happy ending. They are a perfect match now. An engagement between two wealthy families from Novaria and Lindwell is a good thing."

Susanna didn't expect those who once mocked her would now suggest she remarry Aaron!

Maud next to her was also a bit tempted. Having an heir from a wealthy Novaria family as a daughter-in-law would surely elevate their status.

However, under the cold gaze of Susanna's six brothers, those teasing voices gradually faded.

Edward was the first to speak, his tone polite yet reserved, "Thank you, Maria, for taking care of Susanna, but Susanna indeed has little connection with the Abbott family."

Arthur replied seriously, "If we had found Susanna three years earlier, she wouldn't have rushed into marriage."

Austin nodded in agreement. "That's right. Susanna is the heir of the Jones family, and she will spend her life in the Jones family."

A middle-aged woman asked, "So Susanna will never get married in her life?"

Aviana replied calmly, "Marriage is not impossible, but we plan to find a man to join the Jones family."

This declaration marked a significant moment. Given the status of the Abbott family, the idea of merging with the Jones family seemed far-fetched.

Even Maud, who had entertained the notion before, now hesitated. Could she really endorse Aaron becoming part of the Jones family? That seemed highly implausible!

Susanna stood her ground with confidence, undeterred by the gossiping women trying to cause mischief. Who didn't know she was now the heir of the Jones family in Novaria?

Fortunately, her family always supported her. Not only did they retaliate without hesitation, but Aviana also mentioned finding a man to join the Jones family!

Observing Maud's attempts to maintain composure, Susanna understood that Maud's primary concern revolved around social status. Any reluctance on Maud's part to object to her potentially remarrying Aaron stemmed solely from Susanna's position as the heir of the Jones family.

Aviana's words were truly empowering. Must a woman conform to societal expectations of marriage? Was it a necessity for her to remarry Aaron? Who dictated these rigid conventions and norms?

Maria didn't seem surprised at all, looking meaningfully at Aaron behind her. "Aaron, what are you standing there for? Didn't you prepare a gift for Susanna? Hurry and bring it out."

Susanna was surprised to hear Maria's words. Aaron prepared a gift for her?

Before long, Taylor presented a gift box to Susanna. Maud's face changed dramatically when she saw the box. "How could it be this? Did you take the wrong one?"

Elaine also exclaimed, "It must be the wrong one."

Seeing the shocked expressions of Maud and Elaine, Susanna couldn't help but be curious about what was inside the box.

Aaron took the box and walked up to her. "Susanna, I must admit, I haven't done enough in these past three years," he said with a hint of regret in his voice.

"Mr. Abbott! No need to apologize. After all, you have no legal relationship now. Bringing up the past on such a happy occasion is inappropriate," said Austin.

After Austin's remarks, Edward interjected coldly, "Aaron, are you publicly apologizing to force Susanna to forgive you?"

Maud was a bit anxious. "Of course not. Aaron, since the Jones family said it's unnecessary, quickly take the gift back."

She looked at the box, growing more agitated. This was a piece of jewelry she had coveted for years. How could it be given to Susanna for no reason? Was Aaron crazy?

Susanna took a deep breath and looked up at Aaron in front of her. "Edward is right. The past is the past. Today is to celebrate Grandma's recovery, so let's leave it at that."

Aaron glanced down and met Susanna's calm gaze. The once expectant look directed solely at him had vanished.

His heart seemed to have been pricked, beginning to ache subtly.

He cleared his throat, "In that case, please accept this gift." Slowly, he opened the box, revealing its contents.
