Chapter 250 You Can't Escape

As Susanna came down the stairs, she saw Erica getting into the elevator with her secretary. It looked like Erica knew Wendy was around.

Then Susanna noticed thatthe bag in Erica's hand looked really familiar. She was stunned for a moment.

Wasn't that the limited edition luxury bag Aaron had sent her while she was shopping a few days ago, the one she didn't accept? She didn't expect it to end up with Erica. Did Aaron give it to her?

A hint of sarcasm crossed Susanna's mind. 'Well, now that I and Aaron are divorced, it's no surprise he's giving luxury bags to Erica.'

After all, in Maud's eyes, Erica and Aaron were the ones who truly belonged together. Susanna couldn't help but feel a bit upset.

She quickly looked away and took a moment to compose herself. She now had a loving family and a happy life. She turned and walked away decisively. It didn't matter to her anymore who Aaron was with.

Meanwhile, Erica went upstairs and confronted Wendy directly. She stared at Wendy and said, "You've been hiding well. Did you really think I wouldn't find you?"

Wendy immediately shrank back and tried to run, but the secretary blocked her way, leaving no escape. In the end, Wendy could only look at Erica and plead, "Ms. Jones, I had no choice. The school is going to expel me, but I can't be expelled. I'm an orphan, attending school on financial aid. I finally got into college. If I'm expelled, my life is over."

As an orphan with no background, without a college degree, she could only work low-level jobs in the future. Her life would be ruined.

Wendy initially thought that by taking Susanna's place and befriending the Jones family heir, her life would improve. But she never expected to be pushed into an even deeper abyss!

Erica raised an eyebrow. "That's why I gave you a chance. It's you who didn't seize it."

"Ms. Jones, if you help me get the expulsion decision revoked, I will definitely obey you. I'll do whatever you ask. Really, I swear!" Wendy pleaded.

Erica's expression soured. She had reached out to the principal, but they were adamant and refused to reverse Wendy's expulsion.

Needing Wendy to replace Susanna, Erica tried to stay patient and said, "Wendy, the school is expelling you because of serious violations, including everything you've done before this. You can't blame me for that. If it were just this one incident, I could definitely help you."

A glimmer of hope flashed in Wendy's eyes. "Ms. Jones, please help me again. You are from the Jones family. Is there anything you can't handle?"

"That's true, but I've got a solution for you," Erica said. "As long as you do exactly what I say and meet my family, it won't matter whether you go to college in the future."

Hearing this, Wendy's face turned cold . "So, you're not willing to help me?"

Wendy's heart sank. This whole mess showed her the true colors of the rich—they were just using her.

So no matter how sweet Erica's words sounded, Wendy knew she had to avoid getting expelled. If she got kicked out, her future would be toast.

Erica grew impatient. "How many times do I have to explain? Do what I say, and you won't lack money. College means nothing to us rich folks."

If Wendy replaced Susanna and became the Jones family heir, she'd never lack money. Whether she went to college or not didn't matter. In fact, Erica preferred Wendy not to go to college; it would be easier to control her that way!

Wendy was unwilling. "But for someone like me, college is very important."

Seeing Wendy's reluctance, Erica's face turned cold. "Fine, if you don't agree, I'll call the principal and tell them you're here!"

"No, Ms. Jones, please." Wendy, in a panic, grabbed Erica, accidentally scratching Erica's luxury bag with her nails.

Seeing the scratch on her rare leather bag, Erica was furious. "Do you know how much this bag costs? You ruined it, and it was the first time I used it!" Erica tried to wipe the bag, but the scratch wouldn't come off.

Wendy knelt on the ground, clutching Erica's leg. "I'm sorry, I really didn't mean to."

"Just saying you didn't mean to doesn't fix it! This bag costs more than you'd earn in a lifetime!" Erica shouted.

A look of embarrassment flashed in Wendy's eyes. "Ms. Jones, aren't you rich? It's just a bag; it shouldn't matter to you."

Hearing this, Erica became even angrier. Normally, she wouldn't get so worked up, but now all her credit cards were frozen, and she was financially strained. She had specifically splurged on this bag and a knock-off dress for today's event.

She had really thought it over before buying this bag, and now Wendy had gone and scratched it. Of course, she was furious.

Erica slapped Wendy hard. "Wendy, what right do you have to mock me? So what if I'm rich? Does that mean I have to forgive your mistakes?"

Wendy endured the pain and pleaded, "Ms. Jones, that's not what I meant."

"Then what do you mean? If you don't agree to cooperate, you'll have to compensate for this bag," Erica countered.

"I can't afford it, and you know I have no money."

"No money, huh? Yet you’re so vain, running off to the luxury store after getting some text? No money, but you dared to pretend to be my friend!"

Erica grabbed Wendy's hair and sneered, "People like you, living at the bottom, should stay there. Don’t expect any miracles. Miracles aren’t for poor folks like you!"

Wendy endured the pain in her scalp and looked up at Erica, retorting, "And you? Knowing I was a fake, but still pretending you didn’t know. You’re looking for Susanna, aren’t you?"

Erica's expression turned mocking. "So you're not that dumb after all. Since you know the awful things you've done, you should just stay in your place and be a good little lapdog!"

Wendy sneered, "If Susanna is the friend you're looking for, why do you want me to go against her? Ms. Jones, what are you afraid of?"
