Chapter 429 Won't Be Arrogant for Long

Susanna glanced up and saw Claudia strutting in. Seriously, what are the odds?

Why can't the Thornberry family just vanish already?

Claudia, swinging her designer handbag, barged in. "Susanna, I can't believe you're so cheap. You only gave your jerk bodyguard $500 for shopping!"

Susanna almost lost it when Claudia called Aaron a jerk.

She cleared her throat and said, "That $500 is his two-day pay."

"Two days for just $500? You should work for me. At least I pay decently."

Claudia turned to Aaron, who wasn't wearing his usual sunglasses, and was floored by his looks. She didn't expect this "jerk" to be so hot.

No wonder there was something going on between Susanna and him!

Claudia stepped closer to Aaron, pulled out a wad of cash, and said, "Jerk, this is more than you make in a month. Ditch this stingy woman and work for me. I promise you won't have to worry about money."

Susanna was stunned. She almost wanted to record this epic moment: the president of the rich Abbott Group being offered cash by a woman. If this got out, it would be all over the place!

The Thornberry family, they were all a bunch of weirdos.

Aaron, with a cold look, glanced at the heavily made-up Claudia and said, "Get lost!"

"Don't be so dramatic. I offer way better than Susanna! Why would you say no?"

Aaron, looking annoyed, said, "Because you're too ugly."

Susanna couldn't hold back her laughter anymore and clutched her stomach. "Claudia, did you hear that? You're too ugly. Your whole family's genes are a mess. Go tell Ramon that if he's ugly, he shouldn't come out and ruin people's lives. Even if I stay single forever, I wouldn't marry him!"

Claudia was instantly furious and pointed at Aaron, yelling, "You're the ugly one! You're lucky I even want you. How dare you refuse me? You'd rather stick with this stingy woman? You're ungrateful!"

Aaron had never been insulted like this before.

His eyes turned icy. "Being kept by an ugly person isn't luck; it's a curse."

Susanna couldn't help but give a thumbs up, admiring their way of arguing.

Claudia, who was used to being the queen bee, had never been talked to like this, especially by a mere bodyguard.

Claudia was fuming. "Susanna, your bodyguard is really bold to insult me. I'll tell Ramon, and he won't let this little bodyguard off."

Susanna touched her chin and said, "Isn't Ramon supposed to be at the hospital getting his teeth fixed?"

After all, a few hours ago, Aaron had punched Ramon, breaking two of his teeth.

Seeing Claudia's confused expression, Susanna realized Claudia probably didn't know about this yet.

Claudia took out her phone. "What nonsense are you talking about? I'll call Ramon right now. Just wait and see, your jerk of a bodyguard won't get away with this."

As soon as Claudia made the call, she was shocked. "What? Ramon was beaten up? Who did it?"

Claudia quickly hung up and furiously said, "You actually had your jerk of a bodyguard beat up Ramon! I'm telling you, the Thornberry family won't let this go easily! Get ready for a lawsuit!"

Susanna leaned back on the sofa and sneered, "I'll be waiting."

After making her threats, Claudia stormed off in a huff.

Susanna didn't take her threats seriously. She glanced at Aaron and said, "Surprisingly, your face is quite attractive, enough for someone to want to keep you. How about considering a career change?"

Aaron looked down at her and smirked, "How much you offering?"

Susanna quickly straightened up, meeting his gaze. "In your dreams. I'm a respectable lady!"

Not long after, a store clerk came over with a small toy and said to Aaron, "This toy is exactly $500 after the discount. It's the cheapest and most suitable gift for you."

Susanna glanced at the small toy. Compared to the gift Aaron had prepared for Lillian earlier, it did seem pretty lame.

The next second, Aaron took the toy and slapped $500 on the counter. "I'll take it."

Susanna didn't expect Aaron to be so blunt and adapt so quickly.

She looked at the store clerk. "He's done shopping. Now, please prepare some items I need."

Since she had decided to visit Lillian in the hospital, she needed to prepare more gifts.

Since she couldn't fool Aaron, she had to get Lillian to cooperate with her in putting on a show.

After shopping, Susanna looked at Aaron. "Could you help me carry these to the car?"

Watching Aaron carry the shopping bags, she felt much better. She secretly took out her phone and snapped a photo of his back—maybe she could use it to mess with Aaron later.

But just as they walked out of the store, a group of people approached them.

The middle-aged woman leading the group looked at her with hostility and said, "You must be Susanna, right?"

Susanna stopped and calmly replied, "Yeah, that's me. And you are?"

"Ms. Jones, I'm here to discuss my son's matter with you. A few days ago at your banquet, my son got involved in an incident with a woman. But it seems like in Ms. Jones's eyes, it turned into a criminal matter. So, I'm here to talk to you."

It turned out to be Aiden's mom, Louise, who had just come back from studying abroad.

Susanna's eyes turned colder. She calmly replied, "You should be talking to that girl about this, not me. After all, I'm not the one involved."

"Ms. Jones, that's not fair. We've already talked to the girl and her family, and they agreed to settle. But your lawyer seems to be encouraging the girl to press charges against Aiden. So, I wanted to ask you, Ms. Jones, what grudge do you have against Aiden that you want to ruin him?"

Susanna had guessed why they had come to her, but she hadn't expected the girl and her parents to agree to settle.

She coldly said, "My lawyer is just trying to help the girl. The decision is entirely up to that girl. If she decides not to press charges and to settle with you, I won't interfere."

"Very well, in that case, Ms. Jones, please withdraw your lawyer. The rest is between us and the girl. Please don't interfere."

"I've said, if the girl doesn't need a lawyer, my lawyer will come back on his own."

Louise's expression changed immediately. "Ms. Jones, that's not what you said earlier. You said you wouldn't interfere, so why did you assign a lawyer to the girl? You're clearly trying to make things difficult for us."

Susanna realized that the girl probably didn't want to settle, which was why the Ashton family had come to her.

Susanna coldly replied, "Aiden pulling that stunt at my business gala also shows that he has a bone to pick with us. To be fair, Aiden was the one who threw the first punch."

Louise's face finally changed. "Susanna, don't be so arrogant. The Thornberry family and the Abbott family are about to collaborate. The Jones family won't be able to stay arrogant for long."
