Chapter 230 Leave Your Hand
Susanna had asked him several times before, but he never wanted to keep the child. That's why she was so desperate to leave Lindwell and get away from him.
Aaron furrowed his brows, not quite getting what she meant.
He promised seriously, "I won't have my own biological children, you can count on that."
'The two kids she had are enough!' Aaron thought.
Susanna's breath hitched. She was about to say more when Taylor walked up. "Mr. Abbott, Mrs. Abbott, you two still here?"
She quickly let go of Aaron's hand and looked up at him. His rugged features and deep eyes gave nothing away.
He lightly tapped her forehead and said softly, "Let's go."
Aaron's touch lingered on Susanna's forehead. She quickly looked away, saying nothing, knowing Taylor was still there and she couldn't reveal anything.
Aaron was so gentle, but it was just an act in front of Taylor.
As they stepped into the elevator, Taylor joined them unexpectedly. "I'm glad you're still here. Mrs. Maria Abbott was a bit worried you might not make the best decisions, so she sent me to help. Mr. Abbott, Mrs. Abbott, don't worry, I'll stay out of your way."
Susanna stood in the elevator, watching the reflection of the two beside her. Silence filled the space, making Aaron's words echo in her mind, stirring up confusion.
Aaron stood quietly, catching a glimpse of the top of her head, unable to see her expression.
Despite his calm exterior, Aaron's mind was anything but. His words echoed, causing doubts. Had he gone mad to tolerateSusanna having another's child?
The fear of her rejection loomed large, casting a shadow over his usually firm demeanor. In this vulnerable moment, Aaron grappled with unfamiliar emotions, his decisive nature giving way to hesitation.
They stayed silent until the car stopped at a luxurious mall known for its mother and baby products.
Getting out, Susanna saw the high-end mall. She'd always been intrigued but feared drawing attention or meeting acquaintances. Today, she was here openly, stepping into a place she'd longed to explore.
As they walked in, the general manager quickly greeted them, "Mr. Abbott, Mrs. Abbott, welcome. I'm at your service today. If you need anything, let me know. If you prefer a quieter place, I can arrange a VIP room and bring everything you need there."
Susanna looked at Aaron. "You go to the VIP room; I want to browse around."
Finally having the chance to come, she wanted to see what she needed. Just looking at pictures in the VIP room wasn't the same as seeing the actual items.
She was about to go browsing with Taylor, knowing Aaron didn't like wasting time on such things.
But after a few steps, Aaron followed her.
Susanna looked at him in surprise, and Aaron, with his noble and handsome face, said lightly, "Taylor, you can take a break."
"That's good. It's better to have Mr. Abbott with you," Taylor said and left.
Susanna was stunned and lowered her voice. "Aaron, are you out of your mind today?"
Aaron, towering over her, shifted slightly. His height nearly engulfed Susanna as he looked down at her. "What's wrong with a husband joining his pregnant wife on a shopping spree for baby stuff?"
'That's the biggest problem!' Susanna screamed internally.
She was about to say something when Aaron suddenly wrapped his arm around her shoulder, pulling her close. Her cheek brushed against his chest, and his suit jacket felt stiff.
Aaron's deep voice whispered, "Don't move, Taylor's watching."
Susanna glanced out of the corner of her eye and saw Taylor lurking in a corner, spying on them.
She quickly looked away. "What's Taylor doing?"
"Following Grandma's orders. Your attitude made her suspicious, so Taylor's here to check. Keep walking, don't look back, or you'll blow our cover," Aaron explained.
Susanna nodded and walked with him, whispering, "Can we not have so many people following us? It's uncomfortable."
Aaron glanced at the assistants around them and soon dismissed them all.
They walked into the elevator together, looking like a sweet couple.
Once the doors closed, Susanna sighed in relief. "Taylor can't see us now, right?"
"Yeah," Aaron replied, but he didn't let go of her.
Not used to being so close to Aaron, Susanna tried to step away. But Aaron's arm caught her, pulling her back into his embrace. Her forehead bumped into his chest, sending a jolt of discomfort through her.
Aaron's warm hand held her, his voice gentle. "Taylor will probably follow us using another elevator. She's good at spying. If we're going to act, we need to do it right."
Susanna blushed. "But do we need to keep holding each other ?"
"If you don't like hugging, what do you prefer?" Aaron looked down at her, his gaze intense, making her instinctively step back.
The elevator doors opened.
Feeling overwhelmed, Susanna pushed Aaron away and quickly exited the elevator, needing to escape the stifling atmosphere.
As she glanced around, she saw Taylor coming up the escalator on the opposite side. Aaron was right.
"Why are you walking so fast?" Aaron's voice came from behind, and her palm felt warm as he tightly held her hand.
With her hand in his, she couldn't help but look at him. His handsome features were flawless under the lights, making him the center of attention.
Holding hands, Susanna followed him.
To outsiders, they looked like a loving couple, but in reality, his grip left her no chance to escape.
Initially, Susanna felt jittery and uneasy, but as time passed, she began to relax. After all, it was just a performance, so why be scared?
Embracing this realization, Susanna felt more at ease. Nearby, a baby store caught her eye with its colorful display of children's clothing.
Intrigued, she walked towards the shop, and Aaron, noticing her interest, joined her as she stepped into the world of adorable baby outfits.
Susanna picked up a tiny baby outfit, soft and cute.
A friendly store clerk approached. "Sir, Ma'am, what do you need to buy? How old is your child?"
"Not born yet." Aaron glanced at Susanna's belly, his tone surprisingly gentle.
The sales clerk handed Aaron a pair of tiny socks, cheerfully recommending, "Sir, maybe a few pairs of these small socks would be a great addition!"
Aaron took the socks, marveling at their petite size, smaller than his palm.
