Chapter 532 When One Is Shameless, They Are Invincible
Susanna narrowed her eyes. She hadn't planned on revealing her identity today.
But with Maud and Elaine acting all high and mighty, they might just ruin her rep in front of everyone here.
If Elaine's jab about cutting in line got out, folks might think there's something fishy with the reservation system at the Velvet Sky Ballroom Hotel, which could mess with the hotel's business.
No way she was gonna let that slide.
Maud looked all smug and said, "Keep it on the down-low; don't go making a scene. We haven't signed the contract yet."
Elaine nodded, then shot a glance at Susanna, saying, "Exactly. Even though the contract isn't signed, the general manager of the Velvet Sky Ballroom came over to greet Maud. Doesn't that say something? You should just give up."
Amelia, feeling a bit ticked off, chimed in, "It's just a greeting. What does that even mean? This is an investment banquet hosted by the Velvet Sky Ballroom Hotel, and they greet all the guests. Does that mean they're gonna work with everyone here? Having confidence is a good thing, but if you overdo it, you'll end up making a fool of yourself."
After that, Amelia greeted the approaching general manager, "Long time no see! The setup for today's banquet is stunning. Is Velvet Sky Ballroom rolling out a new theme?"
"Ms. Richardson, you have a keen eye. Today's setup is part of our new theme, but there's more to come. We like to keep some surprises up our sleeve."
Seeing Amelia chat with the general manager, Elaine felt a bit miffed and brazenly walked up, saying, "Can we book this new theme now? I want it for my birthday party."
The general manager glanced at Elaine and said, "Absolutely, you can book it. And previous customers are also welcome to switch their theme."
Elaine was thrilled and immediately told the general manager, "Great, I'll use this new theme for my birthday."
That would definitely wow the Lindwell crowd and give her a chance to shine.
The Velvet Sky Ballroom Hotel had just opened in Lindwell and was already booked up by various families, but only for elder birthday parties or weddings.
No young person had thrown a party there yet.
If she hosted her birthday party at the hotel, she'd definitely impress the women in Lindwell.
They'd always mocked her, and it was all because Susanna had tricked her with fake goods, making her look foolish.
The general manager nodded. "You can contact our staff directly when the time comes."
Elaine looked smugly at Amelia and Susanna, "See? This is what power looks like. I said I'd have my birthday party at the Velvet Sky Ballroom Hotel. You said it wasn't possible, but now you see? This is the power of the Abbott Family."
Hearing the name Abbott Family, the general manager became even more enthusiastic towards Elaine, "It's an honor. If you have any issues at today's banquet, just come to me. If there's any lack of hospitality, please forgive us."
Maud saw the general manager's attitude and couldn't help but smirk, throwing a glance Susanna's way.
Sure, the Jones Family had money in Philly, but the Abbott Family wasn't scared.
Susanna eyed the general manager and frowned, "Where's Mike Koski, the original general manager?"
She remembered Mike being in charge, but this guy was new to her.
The general manager replied calmly, "Mike had some family stuff to deal with and took a few days off. I'm filling in for him. If you have any issues, you can come to me."
Susanna turned to Elaine and said, "Miss, as far as I know, all bookings for this year are full."
Hearing this, the general manager looked at Elaine, a bit hesitant. "Miss, you haven't booked our place for a birthday theme party?"
Elaine's face turned awkward, and she said stiffly, "No, I hadn't decided where to host my birthday party. Seeing your design today, I thought it was nice and wanted to book it. Can't I book now?"
"Miss, I'm sorry. All bookings for this year are full. If you really want to book, I can put you on the list for next year."
Elaine's face changed. "Why can't I book for this year? It's just a birthday party. You don't have guests every day, do you? Just pick a day for me."
"I'm really sorry, Miss. Our place can't host guests every day. We need time to modify the theme design and let the plants grow."
Elaine was immediately displeased, "What do you mean? You're not letting me book? Don't forget that I'm from the Abbott Family. You must have heard of Aaron. Do you want him to come and talk to you personally?"
The general manager quickly explained, "Miss, please don't be angry. That's not what I meant."
Elaine said, "Then what do you mean? You better explain it clearly today."
Amelia covered her mouth and laughed, "Some people, even without a booking, boast about using today's design theme for a birthday party. When you get a booking, then you can talk big."
Elaine was furious and looked back at Maud, saying, "Maud, look at how they're treating us. I just want to book a birthday party, but the hotel won't even give me a favor. How can they cooperate with us in the future?"
Maud frowned and said to the general manager, "Just arrange a simple birthday party, no need to pick a specific date."
Elaine felt a bit uncomfortable. Of course, she wanted to pick a good date, but now she had no choice. As long as she could host her birthday party at the Velvet Sky Ballroom, that would be enough.
The general manager said, "Ms. Abbott, I'll look into it later and see if I can adjust a day for this miss."
Maud said, "That would be great."
Elaine looked smugly at Amelia and Susanna, "See? Just because you can't do it doesn't mean we can't."
Susanna looked at the general manager and said, "Who told you that when the hotel is fully booked, you can still find a day to host a birthday party?"
