Chapter 88 That woman came back to apologize
Susanna sent the link on her phone to Dick. "Dick, take a look first."
At this moment, the woman kneeling in front of her looked at her, "Miss Susanna, please forgive me; it was really my fault. I shouldn't have come to make trouble without investigating thoroughly. It's all my fault."
Susanna's expression was complicated. She didn't believe that the apology was because her family was acquired.
She hesitated and asked, "Why did you come to find me?"
She also seemed surprised but quickly explained. "Miss Susanna, I really know I was wrong. Please forgive me this time."
"You should get up first."
"Miss Susanna, if you don't forgive me, then I won't get up."
She shamelessly knelt on the ground and refused to get up.
It was not until Susanna said she wouldn't hold onto the past that she stood up, her eyes filled with fear, completely different from her previous arrogance.
After this woman left, the office returned to quietness.
Next to her, Dick finished reading the message. He looked at Susanna with a complex gaze. He didn't expect that the person secretly supporting her could go to such lengths. After all, although this family's conglomerate went bankrupt, they were still wealthy, having been rich for several generations. It was unexpected that that woman would kneel and apologize to Susanna.
Dick spoke softly, "Susanna, come with me to the office."
Susanna knew what he was referring to. She walked into the office and said, "Dick, I also don't know what’s going on. I'm also confused at the moment."
"Alright, since you don't want to say, I won't ask anymore. But this incident has a good outcome, which is good." Dick replied.
Susanna knew Dick didn't believe it, but she didn't continue to explain.
When she returned, she couldn't help but search for information about this company, wanting to know who suddenly acquired the conglomerate.
A possibility flashed through her mind, but she felt it was unlikely.
After searching, she found out that the acquiring party was Silverpeak Innovations.
Was it actually Erica's family company?
Susanna found it even more weird. Yesterday at the restaurant, when she met Erica, that despicable person threatened her, saying she had her brother's support.
However, today, coincidentally, Erica's brother acquired this company!
Susanna thought, 'What did Erica want to do?'
While checking messages, she suddenly saw that the golf course of this company was facing environmental pollution issues, attracting great attention and causing the company's stock to plummet directly.
At the same time, news spread that the older man couldn't handle the stress, suffered a stroke, and was sent to the hospital with an uncertain fate. Multiple children were fighting over the property, leading to a scandal.
In one night, the company fell into an abyss.
Susanna wasn't surprised at all. After all, that older man had caused harm to many girls in the past; it was just retribution.
However, all of this seemed too coincidental.
At this moment, Susanna received a call from Elaine. She frowned and answered, "Hello?"
Elaine shouted, "Susanna, did you tell Aaron about me? He canceled my credit card and forbade my family from giving me money. How vicious you are!"
Susanna was stunned. She did tell Aaron about the issue related to Elaine.
However, she just wanted Aaron to warn Elaine not to cause trouble for her again. After all, she wanted a normal life and didn't want to get involved in any wealthy family disputes.
However, she didn't expect Aaron to actually take action against Elaine; after all, he and Elaine were family.
Listening to Elaine's complaints on the phone, Susanna calmly replied, "It's not that I stop your credit card, you should find the person who stopped your credit card!"
After saying that, Susanna hung up, but Elaine kept calling. She directly switched her phone to silent mode.
This rumor storm came fiercely but quickly passed. Susanna didn't expect it to be resolved so easily. She breathed a sigh of relief and gently touched her abdomen, feeling the little life inside.
After Maria's surgery at the end of the month, she and Aaron could completely sever all ties.
Susanna remembered that she should go for a prenatal check-up.
She made an appointment on her phone at the hospital for the check-up, packed her things, and prepared to leave work early to go to the hospital.
"Susanna, are you leaving early to go back to school?" Dick asked.
Hearing Dick's voice, Susanna turned around, feeling a bit embarrassed as she replied, "There are some things to attend to, and I don't have much work on hand, so I plan to leave early. If there's anything urgent, I can stay back to handle it."
Dick reminded, "There's nothing urgent. Don't worry, I'm just concerned about you. After all, with the recent rumors, people will surely talk, especially in school."
"Thank you, but I'm not going back to school." Susanna replied.
Dick smiled. "Susanna, don't be so guarded against me. I'm not an enemy; at least we're friends, right?"
Susanna relaxed slightly. Because of Aaron's incident, she indeed kept a distance from men out of habit.
Fortunately, Dick didn't continue to inquire further. Susanna left in the elevator and went directly to the hospital.
Susanna didn't inform Austin in advance when she was at the hospital for her prenatal check-up.
After all, Austin was usually busy with work, and she didn't want to take up his time to accompany her. She could go for the check-up alone.
After the examination, the doctor said, "The baby is healthy."
Susanna put the ultrasound report in her bag. She always kept these documents well since the ultrasound was like a photo of her child, even though the features were not clear.
Seeing that it was still early, she turned around and went upstairs to find Austin.
Coming out of the elevator, Susanna looked up and saw Austin standing outside the corridor with a woman in front of him. Was it none other than Erica?
Her steps halted as she watched Austin and Erica over there, a hint of confusion flashing in her eyes.
Susanna thought, 'How could they be standing together? Did they know each other?'
Susanna hid around the corner. She didn't want Erica to see her. Every time she encountered such a despicable person, it never ended well. She didn't want Erica to know about her relationship with Austin to avoid any trouble.
She silently stood by and watched. Erica was speaking excitedly.
She thought, 'Were they arguing? Did Austin and Erica have some conflict between them?'
Over there, Austin looked a bit impatient as he said to Erica, "I've said I'm busy with work and don't have time to attend your engagement."
Erica insisted, "But Edward said you would make time to attend. Austin, I want my engagement to proceed with family members present. It would make me very awkward."
Austin asked, "If you want your family there so badly, then why are you refusing when Edward says he will find your family?"
After hearing this, Erica's expression instantly turned pale.
