Chapter 378 Susanna, What Should I Do with You
When Aaron found out Nova went to see Madison, he was like, "Bingo! Nova's gotta be Susanna!"
He'd been side-eyeing her for a while, but never had the smoking gun.
So, he had someone tail Madison. If Nova was Susanna, she'd definitely show up there.
And now, boom, he had his proof.
Aaron stared at the pics on his tablet, feeling all kinds of messed up.
Tyler chimed in, "Boss, Ms. Ramirez is totally Mrs. Abbott, right? She didn't kick the bucket; she's still kicking."
"Not just kicking, but living it up."
Aaron thought back to their run-in at Radiant Valley, where Nova had him chasing his own tail, making him second-guess everything.
Turns out Susanna faked her death and ghosted for four years!
How freaking awesome!
"Boss, what's the game plan now?"
Aaron stayed quiet for a sec. He'd been hunting for proof that Nova was Susanna, and now that he had it, he was stumped.
He stared at Susanna's pic, lost in thought. 'Susanna, what the heck am I gonna do with you?' he wondered.
Meanwhile, Susanna was heading back to the hospital when she suddenly sneezed.
She rubbed her nose, her eyelids twitching like crazy. What the heck was up with that?
She felt a bit on edge, like something bad was brewing.
She replayed the last few days in her head and didn't think she'd slipped up. Everything with Aaron was smooth sailing.
By late afternoon, Aaron's test results came in, and everything was A-OK.
When Susanna saw the results, she grinned, realizing Charles had a real shot.
She called Michael right away, "Aaron's test results are good. We can start prepping for the bone marrow donation. It'll take about a week."
"I'll get the vacuum chamber ready. But Susanna, you know once Charles is in there, if Aaron bails, Charles is stuck."
"I know."
Susanna knew the bone marrow donation drill better than anyone, but she wasn't gonna let Aaron flake.
After hanging up, Susanna called Aaron, but no dice.
Weird, wasn't it after hours?
Maybe he was still grinding?
She didn't overthink it and shot Aaron a message: [Hospital results are in, all good.]
But after ages, still no reply.
Susanna remembered Michael's warning and started to get jittery. Was Aaron really getting cold feet?
"Mommy, what's wrong?"
Lillian noticed her mom was off.
Susanna smiled, "Nothing, just a bit nervous about the surgery."
Lillian reached out her tiny hand to touch her face and said in her sweet, kiddie voice, "Mommy, don't worry, it's gonna be fine."
Looking at Lillian's chubby little face, Susanna smiled. Every time she was stressed, Lillian's sweetness always made it better.
'Daughters really are the best,' she thought.
Just then, Susanna's phone rang. Seeing it was Aaron, she quickly picked up, "Mr. Abbott, finally done with work?"
"Ms. Ramirez, Mr. Abbott's totally wasted."
Susanna paused, then asked, "What happened? And who are you?"
"I'm Mr. Abbott's assistant. He's been working on a big contract these past few days, and it hit a critical point. To wrap it up early and get ready for the bone marrow donation, he moved the meeting up. Normally, he doesn't drink, but given the situation, he did, and now he's hammered."
Hearing this, Susanna pursed her lips. "Got it. Just take him home to rest."
The voice on the other end hesitated. "Ms. Ramirez, he's been calling your name since he got drunk. Could you come over?"
"Alright, send me the address. I'll be there."
After hanging up, Susanna patted Lillian's head. "I gotta step out for a bit. Be good, wash up, and hit the sack. I'll be back soon."
"Is Daddy looking for you?"
"He's drunk, and I need to check on him."
Susanna didn't explain much to Lillian. After all, Aaron had rushed to finish his work to donate bone marrow, so she had to go.
And at this critical moment, she couldn't let anything happen to Aaron.
After leaving the hospital, Susanna headed straight to the restaurant.
Parking outside, she strutted in on her high heels and went to the private room on the second floor. Sure enough, she saw a large round table, but now only Aaron was left, slouched in a chair.
Aaron leaned back lazily, his suit jacket tossed aside, and several buttons of his shirt undone, showing off his collarbone.
Susanna walked up to the drunken Aaron and softly said, "Mr. Abbott, can you walk?"
Aaron looked up at the sound, his eyes deep and bright. He said in a low voice, "You're here?"
"Yeah, let's go."
Susanna helped Aaron up. As long as she got him to the car, she could get back to the hospital to be with Lillian.
She thought it would take some effort, but Aaron surprisingly cooperated and followed her.
After getting Aaron into the car, she glanced at him and then told Tyler in the passenger seat, "Make sure he drinks some milk when he gets home."
But just as Susanna was about to leave, Aaron pulled her into his arms, and she quickly caught a whiff of the alcohol on him.
"Mr. Abbott, what are you doing?"
Aaron rested his chin on her head and said in a low voice, "Just hold me for a bit."
Susanna frowned but thought about Aaron's upcoming bone marrow donation and didn't push him away.
The car started, and she went with Aaron.
They didn't say a word the whole ride.
Susanna leaned against the alcohol-scented Aaron, hearing his steady and strong heartbeat.
For some reason, she felt tense, like something was off.
As she was lost in thought, the car stopped.
Susanna looked up and saw the villa outside the window. At that moment, her mind was flooded with images, and she started breathing heavily.
"What's wrong?"
Aaron looked down and saw her holding her head. He instinctively wanted to help, but Susanna pushed him away. "Don't touch me!"
Aaron's lips tightened. "Does this place make you that uncomfortable?"
