Chapter 477 The Relationship Between Vivian and Owen

Vivian was fuming. "I had no clue my real dad was the big-shot President in Philly until my mom spilled the beans on her deathbed."

Vivian's heart was burning with rage. If she'd grown up with Owen, her life would've been a whole lot different, and she wouldn't have had to struggle so much.

Susanna was floored. She never saw it coming that Vivian was Owen's kid.

Just a bit ago, she thought maybe Vivian was Owen's side chick, and even Raymond was his secret son. That made sense, right?

But finding out Vivian was actually Owen's daughter? That was a shocker.

No wonder Vivian always had that air of superiority, even though her background seemed pretty basic. It was a weird mix.

Now Susanna got it. Vivian was the President's daughter but had no clue. She had a rough life, and then bam, she found out Owen's her dad. That must've been a mind-blower.

Susanna figured Vivian probably tried to find Owen, but he likely shut her down.

That's why Vivian was both humble and proud. She was the President's daughter but couldn't tell anyone 'cause no one would buy it, and she was broke.

Susanna turned to Aaron and asked, "You knew all this, didn't you? That's why you helped Vivian out."

She couldn't think of any other reason why Aaron would promise to look after Vivian and Roman.

"Nope, I had no idea."

Aaron looked at Vivian and said, "Now that you've got a new sugar daddy, you don't need the Abbott family anymore."

"Why? The Abbott family owes me. They can't just ditch me!"

"Vivian, the Abbott family never owed you. We took you in 'cause you were alone and had no one. But then you started plotting against my wife and kid, and that's why you ended up in jail. You had to pay for what you did."

Vivian's eyes flickered. "I wasn't the only one. I was just helping Maud out. What did I do wrong?"

Susanna shot her a cold look. "You schemed against others and broke the law, and now you wanna play innocent?"

"I did nothing wrong. Why should I be the only one to suffer while Maud gets off scot-free? We both did it, but only I paid the price. Is that fair?"

Susanna calmly replied, "Of course it's not fair. But Maud has her own price to pay, and as the mastermind, you have yours. Don't think just 'cause you've got a new backer and snuck into Philly, you can dodge all responsibility."

Vivian looked smug. "I'd like to see you try to make me pay."

She wasn't the same weakling she was back in Lindwell, where Susanna could push her around.

Susanna turned to Owen and asked, "So you're gonna cover for Vivian, huh? I remember you recently pushed for laws about judicial fairness. If you secretly cover for Vivian's crimes, what do you think will happen if this gets out?"

Owen's face turned serious as he grilled Vivian, "Didn't you say you were wronged? Spill the beans, what really went down?"

If Vivian hadn't reached out, claiming she was wronged and locked up, with her kid left helpless, he wouldn't have gone through the trouble of bringing her back to Philly.

Even if he didn't want to acknowledge her, he felt guilty for not being there as a dad. As long as it didn't mess with his career, he could treat her better.

But he didn't expect Vivian to lie to him.

Vivian felt a bit guilty and said stiffly, "It wasn't my fault. Maud set everything up, and I took the fall alone. As a dad who hasn't been around, shouldn't you have my back instead of doubting me?"

Susanna watched Vivian's act, and it was clear Owen's attitude was shifting.

The next second, Owen looked at her and said, "Ms. Jones, I need to dig into this."

"So, Mr. Richardson, you're gonna cover for her."

"I'm not covering for her. I just wanna know what really happened. If it wasn't all her fault, is it fair for her to take all the blame?"

Owen glanced at Aaron. If this was a scheme between Maud and Vivian, how could Vivian take all the heat alone?

That was a no-go.

If Aaron didn't want this to blow up, he had to step in and fix it.

Aaron said, "Maud does have a part in this. She got a suspended sentence, not a real one, so she wasn't in prison. That doesn't mean she didn't take any responsibility."

Susanna said, "With a suspended sentence, Maud should stay in Lindwell and not leave. So why is she in Philly and at today's party?"

Vivian was shocked and asked, "Maud is at today's party?"

Vivian was furious about Maud's betrayal. If it weren't for Owen, she'd still be in prison, and Ramond would be stuck with the Abbott family, who knows what kind of life he'd have.

Vivian knew Maud too well. Knowing Ramond wasn't Aaron's son, Maud would definitely treat him badly.

Aaron looked at Susanna and said, "I didn't know she came to Philly."

"Well, I'll give you the benefit of the doubt for now. But I guess Maud came to Philly to deal with the Calum and Thornberry family stuff. If she's here so openly, she must feel confident and not care about the suspended sentence."

Susanna glanced at Vivian again. "Even someone with a sentence can show up here. Makes me question the so-called law."

She wasn't letting this slide.

Susanna stood up and looked at Owen. "I want a satisfactory answer about Vivian. Otherwise, I'll go public, and the fallout will be on you."

"Ms. Jones, we can still talk this out. Don't be so hasty."

"Sorry, there's no room for discussion. I won't let anyone harm my kid or my family. Family is my line in the sand."

Owen paused and said, "If family means so much to you, isn't your brother family too, just like your daughter?"

Susanna looked wary and asked, "What do you mean?"
