Chapter 234 I'm Not That Kind of Woman

After Susanna locked eyes with his deep, narrow gaze, she instinctively turned away, not wanting to make eye contact. She doubted. 'What's he doing at school?'

Aaron was always so low-key, never showing up in public like this.

While Susanna was lost in thought, the girls around her started screaming. Wendy pinched Susanna's arm and squealed, "Oh my God, Susanna, he's coming our way! Who's he looking for? Who's the lucky one?"

Despite her words, Wendy's eyes gleamed with greed. She'd written so many novels but never imagined she'd see a scene like this in real life.

Could she really be the heroine of a novel, finally meeting her true love? Was a prince-and-Cinderella story about to unfold?

As Susanna watched Aaron stroll over, her eyelids fluttered. She took a few steps back, feeling the urge to bolt.

Wendy, on the other hand, stood her ground, craning her neck towards Aaron with unabashed curiosity.

Every girl in the vicinity was staring at the handsome and elegant Aaron, hearts racing, hoping they were the one he was looking for.

Aaron stopped in front of Susanna, his gaze fixed on her, though she was skillfully hidden behind the crowd.

His eyes narrowed slightly, and a faint smile played on his lips. "I'm here to pick you up," he said.

Susanna wished she could disappear into the crowd and make a quick exit.

She stood frozen.

Aaron noticed the growing crowd. He hated being the center of attention, so he stepped forward and extended his hand.

Just as Susanna was about to speak, Wendy stepped forward, her face flushed, and stammered, "But I... I don't know you."

Susanna was stunned.

Did Wendy misunderstand? Or was Aaron here for Wendy and not her?

Aaron's brows furrowed, and he said coldly, "I don't know you either. Please move aside."

Wendy's face fell. She looked back at Susanna, her face turning pale.

A girl let out a mocking laugh. Wendy, realizing her mistake, stomped her foot angrily and ran off.

"Wendy!"

Susanna watched Wendy's retreating figure, knowing this must have hurt her pride. Kids from orphanages were often more sensitive, and Wendy was no exception.

In a flash, Aaron was right in front of her. His impressive height added to his commanding presence as he looked down at her. "Shall we go?" he asked with a glint in his eye.

Susanna felt all the girls' eyes on her. If this kept up, she'd be the talk of the school by tomorrow.

Acting on instinct, she pulled up the hood of her jacket, took a deep breath, spotted an opening, and made a quick escape.

Aaron's outstretched hand hung in the air, a look of bewilderment on his face as Susanna vanished.

His expression shifted to mild disapproval. 'Did she just bolt? Am I really that scary?'

Aaron withdrew his hand, and a charming girl sidled up to him. "Hey there, handsome guy. How about a drink tonight?"

Glancing at her, Aaron responded icily with just three words, "Sorry, I can't."

After speaking, Aaron turned and got back into his car. As he drove, he called Susanna, but she didn't pick up.

He glanced at the yellow rose on the passenger seat, thinking he must be crazy to do something like this.

Meanwhile, Susanna hailed a cab as soon as she left the school. Sitting in the car, she looked back at the school, her phone constantly ringing.

She held her phone but didn't answer, unable to understand why Aaron was suddenly doing this.

She recalled their last conversation while shopping for baby supplies. Aaron seemed to be making an effort to reconcile and prevent a divorce. However, she couldn't shake the realization that his actions were all because of Maria.

Soon, she received a WhatsApp message from Aaron: [Why did you run?]

Feeling conflicted, Susanna hesitated to reply. Then, another message from Aaron popped up: [In Lindwell, you can't run far enough.]

Susanna was instantly furious. She immediately called back to question. "Aaron, what do you want?"

"Finally answered. Why did you run just now?"

"You showed up out of nowhere. If I didn't run, could I still study and prepare for exams peacefully at school tomorrow? What exactly do you want?" Susanna was a bit angry.

Aaron's tone was calm, explaining, "I'm apologizing to you."

'Apologizing to appease me?' Susanna was almost infuriated. It took her a while to calm down. "I don't need your apology. Besides, why are you apologizing to me?"

At this point, Susanna understood Aaron's intention. She spoke with a mocking tone, "You don't think a casual apology will make me forgive you and not get a divorce, do you?"

On the other end, Aaron seriously thought for a moment. "I'm not a casual person."

He had never casually apologized to a woman.

Susanna laughed in anger, "Well, I'm sorry. Mr. Abbott, I'm not a casual woman either."

"Then do you want to try?" Aaron asked.

She hesitated. "Try what?"

"Try accepting my apology." Aaron's deep and pleasant voice came through the phone, and Susanna suddenly felt a pang of sadness, inexplicably feeling very wronged.

She had felt wronged in front of Aaron for three years. Susanna reached a breaking point. When she made up her mind to walk away, he suddenly expressed a desire to apologize.

Susanna bit her lip, firm in her resolve. "I've given it a shot before. I'm not up for round two," she replied.

After saying that, she hung up the phone and stared out the window at the night scenery.

When she got home, she saw Austin and Daniel sitting on the couch. She was a bit surprised that Daniel hadn't returned to Novaria yet.

As Madison headed to the kitchen, Daniel leaned in close and whispered to her, "Susanna, while sorting through your immigration paperwork in Lindwell today, I stumbled upon a little snag."

"What is it?"

"Since you and Aaron haven't officially divorced yet, this document requires Aaron's signature," said Daniel.

"Aaron definitely won't sign it, and we can't let him know about this." Susanna instinctively denied the possibility. Based on Aaron's behavior today, not only would he refuse to sign, but he might also obstruct it.

"So Susanna, you need to finalize the divorce with Aaron as soon as possible. If you find it difficult, I can step in."

"Daniel, I'll handle this myself. I'll finalize the divorce within this week," Susanna promised.

Daniel smiled. "Alright, Edward will be coming over in a few days. He can help bring you home."

Meanwhile, they would expose Erica's true nature and announce that Susanna was the real Jones heir, while Erica was just an impostor..
