Chapter 432 The Dishes Aaron Used to Like
The vibe got real tense all of a sudden. Susanna glanced over at Francis and Aaron by the car door and just froze, totally speechless. 'What the heck are they doing?' she thought, super confused.
But Francis wasn’t about to back down. He stood his ground, blocking Aaron, and said, "Sorry, Susanna and I have dinner plans tonight. Isn’t it kinda weird for you, as her bodyguard, to sit here?"
Francis couldn’t believe the nerve of this guy.
He’d never seen a bodyguard act so bold, sitting in the back with the boss!
Aaron wasn’t backing down either. "As her bodyguard, sitting here is the safest spot for her," he shot back.
Francis wasn’t having it. "The front seat is where a bodyguard should be."
They locked eyes, neither budging an inch.
Then Francis turned to Susanna and said, "Susanna, you decide. Where should he sit?"
Susanna paused, then suggested, "How about we all squeeze in together?"
Aaron’s face darkened, and he gritted his teeth, "Susanna, so you’re just cool with everyone, huh!"
Francis lost it. "Hey, watch your mouth. Susanna and I are just friends and colleagues. We were just having dinner. If you weren’t so shameless, none of this would’ve happened!"
Susanna’s smile faded a bit, then she said with a half-smile, "Francis, why don’t you come sit with me."
Francis smirked and shot a look at Aaron, "As a bodyguard, you should know the rules."
He bent down, got in the car, and slammed the door shut.
Aaron stood outside, tugged at his tie, and glared at the two inside, his eyes darkening.
Just as Marcus was about to get in, Aaron blocked him and slid into the front seat.
Aaron acted like he didn’t even notice he’d taken Marcus’s spot.
Marcus hesitated, glanced at Aaron, and sensed the danger in his expression.
Marcus got scared and coughed, "I’ll just sit in the car behind."
He wisely didn’t fight Aaron for the seat. He knew Aaron’s true identity.
If Aaron ever became Susanna’s husband, fighting over a seat now would be a bad move.
Marcus went to the car behind and sat with the other bodyguards. Some of them asked, "What’s Aaron’s deal? He hit our captain and nothing happened. Does Ms. Jones have a thing with him?"
"Yeah, there are rumors about her and many men, but we know she’s always kept it clean. But this guy’s different."
They didn’t know Aaron’s background, just that he showed up out of nowhere, super arrogant, and had a complicated thing with Susanna.
Marcus said, "Don’t ask what you shouldn’t."
Susanna had said Aaron’s identity was a secret.
Marcus glanced at the car in front, feeling lucky he was in the back.
Susanna could feel the cold stare from the front seat.
Seeing this, Francis started chatting about the latest entertainment gossip, breaking the tension.
Soon, Susanna was smiling again. Francis always had the juiciest gossip.
Aaron, sitting shotgun, heard the laughter from the back and his face just kept getting darker. Francis sure knew how to charm the ladies.
He caught Susanna’s smile in the rearview mirror, and it made his stomach churn. She was grinning ear to ear at Francis!
Aaron felt a wave of unease wash over him.
The driver next to him was hunched over, driving nervously. If he wasn’t the driver, he’d probably want to be in the car behind too.
Susanna noticed Aaron’s glare but acted like she didn’t. She kept chatting and laughing with Francis.
Francis didn’t give Aaron a second thought. He’d been in the entertainment biz long enough to know how to keep his cool. If he didn’t, he wouldn’t have lasted this long.
Sometimes, you gotta fight for what you want.
An hour later, they pulled up to the restaurant.
Francis jumped out to open the door for Susanna. "Susanna, this place has some killer new dishes. You gotta try them."
Susanna got out, catching a glimpse of Aaron getting out of the front seat. She felt his eyes on her but kept walking with Francis towards the restaurant.
She was single and could have dinner with whoever she wanted.
They walked ahead, still laughing and chatting, feeling Aaron’s icy stare from behind.
Francis leaned in and whispered, "Susanna, what’s up with this bodyguard? He’s got this weird look in his eyes when he sees us. He’s so possessive! Could the rumors be true?"
Susanna shrugged it off. "The media’s full of crap. You know how it is, all just rumors."
"But I swear, that guy likes you." Francis said, reading the situation like only another guy could.
Susanna was taken aback. "You think he likes me?"
"Yeah, did you see his jealous face just now?"
Susanna shook her head. "No, you don’t get it. That wasn’t jealousy or anything like that."
Francis was confused. "Then what was it?"
Susanna sighed. "He’s just crazy."
Aaron had to be nuts to ditch his CEO gig and play bodyguard, right?
Francis went quiet, thinking it over. He could tell from Susanna’s tone that her relationship with Aaron was anything but simple.
He’d known Susanna for two years and had never seen her care so much about any guy.
But now, she was acting different with this bodyguard.
Aaron trailed behind them, and when Susanna and Francis entered a private room, he followed with a cold expression.
Francis sat down and started ordering. He glanced at Aaron by the door and said, "Susanna, this is a private dinner. Isn’t it kinda awkward having a bodyguard here?"
He said it on purpose. He didn’t want Aaron hanging around.
When dealing with rivals, you gotta be ruthless.
Susanna coughed. "Why don’t you go grab some dinner too?"
Aaron stood firm. "It’s my job to keep you safe."
He didn’t trust her alone with Francis in a private room.
Seeing Aaron’s determination, Susanna let it go.
Francis had no choice but to drop it, and soon the food arrived.
Francis smiled and pointed to a dish. "Susanna, try this. It’s amazing. It’s a twist on a signature dish from Lindwell."
Susanna’s eyes widened. "This is Lindwell’s most famous dish?"
"Yep, the chef used to work for the Abbott family, the richest folks in Lindwell. This was their picky CEO’s favorite."
