Chapter 455 It Turns Out Someone Is Supporting from Behind

Susanna followed Sam's gaze to Aaron, curious about what Tyler had said.

Aaron, looking all serious, said, "Tyler's dealing with the cancellation of the collab at the company, but it's gonna take a bit."

"Aaron, this is kinda weird. It's just a small branch office. Tyler went there himself to cancel the collab with the Thornberry family. Is there really someone at the branch who dares to disobey?"

Sam found it hard to believe. Couldn't this be sorted with a phone call? Why's it taking so long?

Was it because the workflow in Philly was different from Lindwell, making it seem so strange?

Aaron paused and then said, "This whole mess was cooked up by my Uncle Calum, and he's been hiding and hasn't shown up."

"Oh, it's Calum. I remember you kicked him out of the Abbott Group for taking bribes. Your mom made a big fuss about it, and then I didn't hear about Calum anymore. So he ended up at the Philly branch."

"Yeah, that's right. I didn't expect my mom to place him at the Philly branch."

"No wonder weird stuff's happening at the branch. If Calum's behind it, it's no surprise he chose to team up with a bunch of idiots."

Susanna also remembered Calum, a typical mooch off his parents kinda guy.

And Maud doted on Calum a lot.

Otherwise, with Aaron's personality, Calum would've been sent to jail for taking bribes at the group.

It was Maud's constant pleading and days of crying in front of Maria that finally made Aaron drop the charges against Calum.

But that time, Maud had to cough up a large sum of money to cover the hole Calum had created by embezzling funds.

Thinking of Calum, Susanna looked at Aaron with some sympathy and said, "Doesn't this make the situation harder to fix? If you stop the collab with the Thornberry family, Calum will definitely cause a scene and won't let it go easily."

After all, that was what Calum was good at.

Aaron coldly replied, "The company's rules won't change for one person."

Susanna inwardly complained that this partnership with the Thornberry family clearly didn't go through the proper company procedures. If it were a small contract, the Thornberry family wouldn't be bragging about it. If it were a big deal, it wouldn't pass the group's review.

So the only conclusion was that Calum broke the rules and privately set up the partnership with the Thornberry family.

No wonder Tyler had trouble canceling the partnership at the branch because Calum was hiding, causing delays.

Susanna looked seriously at Aaron and said, "I think the most important thing for you is to handle the partnership with the Thornberry family. After all, Lillian is recovering well and can be discharged. We have a family doctor who can monitor her condition at home; she doesn't need to stay in the hospital."

Aaron frowned and asked, "Are you sure there's no problem with Lillian's treatment?"

Susanna raised an eyebrow and asked, "What do you mean by that?"

Sam quickly jumped in, "Hey, you two, chill out. I think Lillian's doing pretty good. I hung out with her for a bit, and she seemed really happy. Looks like she's on the mend."

Hearing Sam, Susanna felt a twinge of guilt. She wondered, 'Did Sam catch on to something?'

Aaron nodded, "I'll handle the Thornberry family first, then I'll come back to be with Lillian."

Susanna smiled at Aaron, "You should focus on your stuff first."

She dodged Aaron's earlier question, hoping he'd leave Philly and not come back.

She didn't want to be on edge all the time, scared Aaron would find out about Charles.

Sam grabbed Aaron, "Alright, let's go deal with the Thornberry family. Susanna, don't forget to come to the Thornberry family's signing ceremony to see them get humiliated."

Aaron shot Sam a glare, "There won't be a signing ceremony."

He wasn't gonna give the Thornberry family that satisfaction.

Susanna watched them leave the hospital and let out a sigh of relief.

Luckily, the Thornberry family interrupted, stopping Aaron from seeing Lillian's medical records. But even if he did, he wouldn't have found out anything since she had already arranged with the hospital. The records Aaron would see were fake.

Aaron and Sam left the hospital together.

Sam, curious, asked, "How'd your talk with Susanna go today?"

Aaron, looking stone-faced, replied, "We didn't get to talk much before the Thornberry family showed up. Those idiots wasted a lot of my time."

Mentioning the Thornberry family made Aaron's face go cold.

He didn't have much time to see Susanna, so he had to make every moment count.

But he didn't expect to run into the Thornberry family here, wasting so much of his time.

"But Aaron, why'd you go downstairs with Susanna?"

Aaron replied, "To check out Lillian's medical report."

"You already know what Lillian's sick with, right? Why do you need to see the report? You're not a doctor. Plus, the Jones family in Philly is loaded; they wouldn't skimp on Lillian's treatment. You don't need to worry about how she's being treated."

After Sam finished, Aaron coldly said, "As Lillian's dad, shouldn't I be concerned about everything related to her illness?"

"Yeah, you should be concerned. I was just meddling, okay?"

Aaron rubbed his temples in frustration, "It's not that I don't trust Philly's medical tech. I think Susanna's hiding something from me."

"What could she be hiding from you?"

"I don't know, just a gut feeling. Regarding Lillian's illness, I think Susanna's hiding something and is anxious for me to leave Philly to avoid me finding out."

Sam raised an eyebrow, "What, do you think Lillian isn't yours?"

Aaron's eyes darkened, "I suspect the sick person isn't Lillian."
