Chapter 567 Some People Only Bully the Weak and Fear the Strong

Right then, Vivian felt the heat of the moment creeping up on her. She couldn't even fake a smile as she turned to Owen and said, "But Dad..."

Owen cut her off, "Enough, let's get on with Ramond's birthday. Amelia, you handle the cake and pass it around."

Vivian wasn't having it. "Dad, Ramond barely knows her."

"They'll get to know each other better with time. We're all family here."

Amelia chimed in with a grin, "Sure thing, Dad. I'll introduce Ramond to everyone. There are lots of kids here; it'll be good for him."

"Great, if you can do that, I'd be thrilled." If Owen did it, it would seem beneath him. If Vivian did it, she wouldn't be up to the task. But Amelia? She was just right.

"This is my duty. We're family, after all. It's my first time looking after a kid, so I might not be perfect, but I'll do my best with Ramond." Amelia took Ramond and started handing out the cake herself.

Vivian watched, green with envy. Those tasks should've been hers, but Amelia was stealing the spotlight. Vivian couldn't help but go to Owen and say, "Dad, Ramond's been with me since he was little. Isn't it a bit much to have Amelia take him around all these strangers?"

Owen replied, "It's fine. Ramond seems to be doing well and isn't uncomfortable. You're worrying for nothing."

Owen's words stung. How could Amelia replace her? "Dad, Amelia's sudden change is fishy. What if she has bad intentions?" Vivian's unease grew. Amelia's change was bad news for her.

Owen frowned. "Vivian, don't think I don't know what you're up to. Amelia's behavior is because of my good teachings. She's my daughter, and I know her well. As for you, don't think that just because Ramond is my grandson, you can inherit everything from the Richardson family. It's not happening. Everything I have will go to Ramond. Don't expect a dime."

Vivian felt like a fool. Owen had seen through her all along but never called her out, playing the doting father until today when Ramond was officially part of the Richardson family.

Vivian thought her life would change today. But she didn't expect that Amelia's change would make Owen so happy, showing how much he valued her.

To Owen, she was just a means to an end. She knew that if it weren't for Ramond, she wouldn't have stayed in the Richardson family.

Vivian lowered her head, her eyes dark with anger and resentment. Why was Amelia more favored? Why did Owen light up just because Amelia accepted Ramond?

For the rest of the party, Amelia took Ramond around to meet everyone, while Vivian stood on the sidelines like a stranger, watching everything that should've been hers being taken away by Amelia.

Feeling lost and embarrassed, Vivian headed to the food area, hoping to distract herself with some snacks. But she accidentally bumped into a waitress.

Already fuming, Vivian snapped, "Are you blind? Do you have any idea how expensive this dress is? You couldn't afford it even if you worked your whole life."

The waitress quickly apologized, "I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to. Let me clean your dress."

Vivian sneered, "Do you even know what brand this dress is? You can't just wash it by hand."

The waitress, looking embarrassed, said, "I'm really sorry. How about I pay for the dry cleaning?"

"Dry cleaning? Are you serious?" Vivian poked the girl's head hard. "This dress is made of high-end material. It can't be cleaned by hand or dry cleaned. You did this on purpose, didn't you?"

"Ms. Nguyen, I really didn't mean to. I'm sorry."

"Sorry? I know women like you always envy the dresses I wear. You'll never wear something like this in your life, so you did it out of jealousy, spilled the drink on me, and then pretended to apologize to gain sympathy, right?"

Vivian's pent-up anger was now all directed at the waitress. She couldn't lash out at the guests, but scolding a waitress was easy, especially since she was the host of today's party.

Susanna walked over, glanced at the waitress, and said, "Vivian, stop it. She didn't mean to offend you."

Vivian shot back, "Look at my dress, stained with red wine. Is this the level of service at Velvet Sky Ballroom Hotel?"

"It was just an accident. I saw it clearly. You didn't watch where you were going and bumped into her tray. Besides, it's just a dress. Everyone here has status and can easily change into another outfit. Ms. Nguyen, if Mr. Richardson finds out about your behavior, what do you think he'll say?"

"Don't use my father to threaten me," Vivian said this, but she was still a bit apprehensive. After all, her status had changed from today, and she needed to maintain her dignity.

Vivian glanced at the waitress. "You're lucky today. I won't hold it against you, but be careful next time. You can't afford to pay for this dress even if you work your whole life." After venting, Vivian left to change her dress in the lounge. Susanna watched Vivian's arrogant behavior. Indeed, a hypocritical woman like Vivian would definitely take revenge on those who wronged her once she had power.

The waitress apologized, "Ms. Jones, I'm really sorry for the trouble."

Susanna glanced at the waitress. "You definitely should say sorry. Things like this will happen often. You need to be smarter in the future and avoid trouble. Not every time will you be this lucky. Learn to protect yourself."

After sending the waitress away, Susanna looked at Amelia, who had a proper smile but no longer the innocence she once had.

Soon, two unexpected guests arrived at the party, elderly people whom Vivian immediately recognized as Amelia's grandparents.
