Chapter 190 Not Compromising
Susanna was about to lose it, which was why she yelled.
She instinctively wanted to protect her child because she knew Aaron meant what he said. If he threatened to get rid of the baby, he would.
The wardwas dead silent.
Aaron looked down at Susanna, seemingly in disbelief. "What did you just say?"
He grabbed her chin, forcing her to look up and meet his gaze. His eyes were deep and scrutinizing.
"Didn't you hear me?" she said.
Susanna felt a pang of regret, but she didn't know what else to do.
This was a hospital; if he wanted to get rid of her baby, it would be easy.
Aaron bent down, his gaze falling on her lower abdomen.
Susanna sensed danger and instinctively tried to cover her belly with her hands, but he moved them away. When his eyes fell on her belly, her heart pounded.
She and the baby were completely under Aaron's control now.
Aaron lowered his eyelids, hiding his expression. After a while, he spoke, "You said this is my child?"
"Yes, it's your child."
Susanna admitted openly that she needed to first stabilize Aaron. Once she was secure, she planned to reach out to her brother to escape to Novaria, where Aaron wouldn't be able to locate her.
After she finished speaking, Aaron sneered, "Susanna, do you think I'm an idiot? To protect the baby, you actually lied and said it's mine. Where's your bottom line?"
Susanna was stunned, never expecting Aaron wouldn't believe her!
She could only explain, "The baby is indeed yours."
"With all those guys hanging around you, are you really sure it's mine? I never made love with you.!" Aaron said.
"There was one time, remember?"
Susanna looked at Aaron and saw the doubt in his eyes, feeling extremely humiliated.
Aaron's tone remained calm. "There was that one instance, but I wasn't willing. Besides, I recall insisting you take the pill, didn't I?"
Susanna tugged at the corner of her mouth. "So, in the end, you still don't believe me, do you?"
"Yes, I don't believe you. Don't think you can fool me again!"
Aaron let go of her hand and took a few steps back. "I'll get you into surgery right away. Let's address the issue in your belly before it becomes a bigger problem."
After saying that, he turned to leave the hospital room. In the background, Susanna's voice could be heard, "If this child is truly yours, would you choose to keep it?"
Susanna gazed at his retreating figure, her eyes brimming with hope. If he agreed to keep the baby, she would propose a DNA test to confirm the paternity.
But Aaron never looked back. He coldly stated, "There's no 'if'."
After saying that, he left.
The hope in Susanna's eyes extinguished, and tears started streaming down uncontrollably.
She looked up at the ceiling, forcing herself to swallow her tears. She had asked this question before, but she still couldn't help but ask again just now.
'Susanna, can you stop being so pathetic? Aaron is not someone you can love!' she told herself.
She curled up on the hospital bed, trembling with fear. Placing a hand on her lower abdomen, she whispered, "Baby, don't worry. Mommy will keep you safe."
Outside, Aaron stood in the hallway, fighting the urge to smoke. He ripped off his tie in frustration, his demeanor as restless as a caged lion.
Tyler, seeing his boss like this, was surprised. It was rare to see the boss like this; the last time was years ago.
Aaron glanced at Kieran beside him. "What are the consequences of an abortion?"
Kieran was baffled. Wasn't Mrs. Abbott just pregnant? Why was he asking about abortion?
But Kieran didn't dare ask and answered honestly, "It depends. Generally, the earlier the abortion, the better, and the fewer times, the better."
Aaron frowned and instructed, "Schedule her for surgery."
Kieran hesitated before speaking, "Mr. Abbott, while I'm not fully aware of the situation, Mrs. Abbott's health is delicate. It's not advisable for her to undergo an abortion. Doing so may jeopardize her future fertility. Considering how challenging it was for her to conceive twins, it might be best to allow her to carry the pregnancy to term."
"Have them?" Aaron's eyes darkened, his profile tense.
The assistant beside him wished he could silence Kieran, thinking, 'Why mention the worst-case scenario? No one could bear the thought of their wife carrying another man's child!'
Seeing Aaron's displeased expression, Kieran thought he had misspoken and quickly tried to make amends. "Should I go find a doctor to arrange the surgery right away?"
Aaron's face darkened even more after hearing that.
Tyler swiftly gestured to Kieran, signaling him to cease speaking if he couldn't offer any constructive input.
Soon, a nurse came running over. "Dr. Kieran, something's wrong. The patient in that room jumped out of the window."
Upon hearing this, Aaron immediately turned and ran towards the hospital room.
He kicked open the door and saw the window open, but no one on the bed.
Aaron shouted angrily, "What are you standing there for? Go save her! If anything happens to Susanna, your hospital will be shut down."
Having said that, he walked over to the window but didn't spot Susanna lying on the ground, covered in blood.
He paused, his voice filled with concern, "You said she jumped. Where is she now?"
The nurse, trembling with fear, said, "I'm not sure. I just heard that the patient in this room jumped."
Soon, the head nurse came running to explain, "She didn't jump. The nurse misheard. The patient climbed down from the platform outside and ran away."
Kieran wiped the sweat from his forehead, uttering, "So it was a false alarm."
If Mrs. Abbott had really jumped and something happened, he would have lost his job.
Aaron sneered, then turned around and kicked the hospital bed forcefully. "Susanna, you certainly know how to keep things interesting. Let's see where you think you can escape to. Find out which neighborhood she's holed up in!"
In that moment, Susanna was frantically escaping from the hospital, her fear of being captured by Aaron's subordinate driving her forward. She refused to passively await her fate.
At this moment, her phone rang. Susanna glanced at the caller ID and immediately answered, "Austin, help me."
Her voice was still choked with sobs, and she was panting, clearly running.
Austin had been preparing a gift, intending to ask Susanna about her whereabouts. However, he dropped the gift in haste and pressed hard on the gas pedal. "Where are you? I'll come right away. Get a safe place to hide first!"
Susanna ran a long way and hid in a park.
She was wearing a hospital gown, which was a bit conspicuous. A passerby asked, "Do you need help?"
"No, my family is coming to get me," said Susanna, she just wanted to wait for Austin.
Besides her brother, no one else could help her now.
At this moment, her phone rang again, this time it was Aaron.
Susanna hung up directly and put it on silent. She looked around in fear, afraid Aaron would appear in front of her the next second.
Soon, footsteps could be heard outside, sounding like a man's.
