Chapter 283 The Scene Was so Incredible
Susanna thought for a moment and said, "I am available. Does Grandma need something?"
"This surgery was tough, so I'm planning a small celebration. I'd like you and your brothers to come. Do you think they can make it?" Maria asked.
Susanna was surprised Maria wanted to invite her brothers. She could hardly believe it!
She hesitated. "Grandma, I'll check with my brothers and let you know."
After hanging up, Susanna was distracted, even while eating breakfast. She wondered how to bring it up with her brothers.
Around noon, Susanna felt a bit of stomach discomfort. Worried, she rushed to the hospital to see Austin.
Austin got her call and quickly brought a wheelchair. "Susanna, sit down. Has your stomach been hurting long? When did it start?"
"Austin, it's just cramps. I don't need a wheelchair; that's overkill."
"Pregnancy is serious. Sit down, and we'll talk after the exam. My friend Michael Brown, a great obstetrician, is visiting today," Austin said.
He wheeled her to the emergency room, where a young doctor with sharp features and a cold demeanor stood.
Susanna was stunned. She didn't know there were such handsome doctors in obstetrics.
Austin said, "This is my sister. She's having stomach pains. Can you check her out?"
Susanna blushed, realizing this was Austin's friend. "Austin, maybe I should see my usual doctor."
"Susanna, don't make this hard. To a doctor, gender doesn't matter."
Susanna felt embarrassed. It wasn't about male doctors; it was just that this one was her brother's friend, making it awkward.
The doctor came over, pressed her into the wheelchair with one hand, and spun a scalpel with the other. "Don't worry, I'm skilled. You can reconsider."
Seeing the scalpel, Susanna swallowed. "Actually, it's not a big deal. I was overreacting."
"That's right." The doctor, in a lazy tone, pushed her to the exam room.
"Michael, she's my sister. Be thorough!" Austin said.
"Got it. You talk too much."
Susanna was nervous. Austin's friend was handsome but intimidating!
After the exam, the doctor took off his gloves. "The fetus is very healthy."
"Then why have I been feeling uncomfortable?"
"As the months go by, the baby moves more. You have two very active babies."
Susanna sighed in relief. It was just fetal movement.
Feeling better, she glanced at the handsome doctor. Did Austin call him Michael Brown?
She got off the exam bed and declined the wheelchair. Blushing, she softly said, "Thank you."
Michael didn't seem to care as Susanna left the exam room on her own. Outside, Austin was waiting, looking worried. "How did it go?" he asked.
"It's just fetal movement," Susanna said, relieved. She lowered her voice. "Austin, why haven't you mentioned this friend before? Is he always this grumpy?"
"Isn't it rude to talk behind someone's back?" Susanna felt a chill and turned to see Michael leaning against the doorway, staring intensely.
Caught off guard, she forced a smile. "I didn't mean it like that. Usually, the more temperamental the doctor, the better their skills."
"Susanna, don't worry. That's just his personality," Austin said, patting her shoulder. "By the way, let's go out for dinner tonight. Michael's in town for a week, and I should treat him."
"You don't have that much pull. I heard you found your sister, so I came to see what she looks like," Michael joked.
Susanna blinked and wondered. 'Came specifically to see me?'
Austin grinned. "How about it? Isn't Susanna pretty and cute? You don't have a sister, so you'll just have to be jealous!"
Susanna rolled her eyes. Why was Austin being so annoying? Didn't he see Michael with a scalpel earlier?
Sure enough, the air seemed to get colder.
Michael put on a mask and walked away.
Susanna watched him go. "Austin, are you sure it's okay to talk like that?"
"No problem. We've been like this since we were kids," Austin said.
She decided not to let Michael examine her again. She was worried about payback!
Then she remembered Maria's call. "By the way, Maria just got out of the hospital. She wants to have a small event and invite everyone."
Austin looked intrigued. "Maria really wants to invite all of us? Isn't she worried we'll mess with Aaron?"
"Austin, listen up. Despite my problems with Aaron, Maria has been there for me. I need to say a proper farewell before I go from Lindwell," Susanna said.
"Alright, if Maria can wait until after your exams, Edward, Arthur, and Daniel should be able to come. They planned to pick you up together," Austin replied.
Susanna nodded. "I'll talk to Maria about it."
Currently, only Austin and Brian were in Lindwell. Justin was nearby, busy with filming.
As evening fell, Susanna left school and headed to the restaurant.
At the entrance, she saw Michael getting out of a taxi. He wore a crisp white short-sleeved shirt and khaki pants, looking clean and charming.
Susanna waited but didn't see Austin. She was puzzled. "Where's Austin?"
Michael walked up the steps and said, "He had a last-minute patient and couldn't leave. He'll be here later."
"Alright."
Susanna knew Austin was busy with emergencies at the hospital.
She offered, "I've been here a few times. There's an event next door. We can check it out after dinner."
As they walked into the restaurant, Susanna saw a group coming out of the elevator. Leading them was a tall, incredibly handsome man in a dark blue suit.
