Chapter 456 Mr. Abbott Is About to Teach Someone a Lesson

When Aaron blurted that out, even he was kinda taken aback. It was like his brain just went on autopilot.

He'd been thinking Susanna was keeping something from him for a while now.

He had a bunch of theories, and he just threw one out there.

But now that he was really thinking about it, maybe this one was spot on. If Susanna wasn't lying, why was she so desperate to get him outta Philly? She had to be scared he'd find out something.

Philly was Jones family turf, so why was she so freaked about him hanging around?

No matter how he sliced it, something was off.

When Sam heard Aaron, he was totally floored. "Dude, you’re saying Lillian’s not the sick one? What’s that even mean? You got any proof?"

"If I had proof, I’d have already dug up the truth. So far, I got nothing solid. Just think Susanna’s acting kinda weird."

"Aaron, maybe you’re overthinking it. Susanna wouldn’t mess around with Lillian’s health. She’s got no reason to lie. If she did, she’d need a good reason, right? Just for your bone marrow?"

And bone marrow’s not something you can just swap around like candy.

Aaron stayed quiet. He hadn’t figured that part out yet, which made him doubt his own hunch.

"Aaron, lying about something this big just for your bone marrow doesn’t add up. When your mom swapped it, Susanna lost her mind. She even tied up your mom and Vivian. You saw that. If it wasn’t for Lillian, why would Susanna go that far?"

"I know, that’s why it’s just a guess."

"Aaron, your guess is kinda out there. If it’s not for Lillian, then who? Someone in the Jones family? But that doesn’t make sense either. They’ve got a big family; they’d find a match way easier. They wouldn’t need you."

Sam thought Aaron’s theory was a bit of a stretch.

Aaron’s face softened a bit, and he nodded. "You’re right. If it was someone in the Jones family, they’d find a match within their own. No need to drag me into it. My guess must be off."

He didn’t have much time with Susanna and was totally in the dark about what she was thinking.

"Aaron, where we headed now? Heard you’ve had a rough time in Philly. How about we grab some food, chill out a bit?"

"Everything I did was my choice. If I couldn’t handle it, I’d have bailed already."

"You’ve been through hell and back, and you still haven’t won Susanna over."

"If you can’t say anything nice, zip it."

Aaron caught the teasing in Sam’s voice and said, "Let’s just head to the branch office."

Right now, Aaron had to deal with the whole Thornberry family mess. He never thought Calum was the one pulling the strings on this deal.

Soon enough, the car pulled up outside the Abbott Group's branch office.

Tyler rushed over to the car door, looking all serious. "Mr. Abbott, Mr. Calum Abbott still hasn't shown up. We've tried calling him a bunch of times, but first he made excuses, and now he's not even picking up. I was just about to call you to see if we should go find him."

Aaron's face was ice-cold. "Where's he at now?"

Tyler answered, "Our intel says Mr. Calum Abbott's at a club."

"Alright, let's head straight to the club."

Tyler hopped in the car with Aaron and the crew.

Sam shot Aaron a look. "So, what's the plan with Calum? This deal with the Thornberry family is sketchy and has a lot of stakes. If you pull the plug, Calum's gonna be in deep trouble, and your mom's gonna come after you."

"I've already told my mom I wouldn't go easy on Calum next time. No way I'm showing mercy, even if she begs."

No way he was letting this slide.

When they got to the club, Aaron led his crew straight to the courtyard where Calum was hanging out.

Not long after, Roman's car rolled up outside too.

Roman looked stressed and said to his assistant, "Why's the Abbott family talking about renegotiating the deal? I thought it was already set in stone."

This deal was huge for the Thornberry family, and Roman was worried it might mess up their standing in Philly.

"Mr. Thornberry, I heard the head office might want to cancel the deal. Maybe they're looking for more perks or trying to renegotiate the terms. You could offer them more cash. This deal's a goldmine for the Thornberry family."

When Roman first heard about the head office wanting to cancel, he thought of that scrappy bodyguard with Susanna, who was dead set on canceling the deal.

At first, Roman even doubted if that bodyguard was really the president of the Abbott Group. But after hearing his assistant, he figured it must be the branch office's VP trying to squeeze more kickbacks, making things tough.

Roman was ticked off. "Get someone to prep more cash. If we lock down this deal with the Abbott family, our status in Philly will skyrocket, and we won't have to worry about the Jones family."

But when Roman got to the door, he was stopped.

The guy at the door said, "Sorry, our boss is meeting an important guest right now."

"What important guest? I had an appointment to discuss something. We've met plenty of times before, right?"

The guy stayed cool. "Sorry, but our boss can't see anyone right now."

Roman quickly handed over a gift. "Can you tell me who your boss is meeting?"

The guy took the gift and whispered, "Mr. Abbott is here."

Roman was floored. "Is it really him?"

His chance had finally come.
