Chapter 452 Witnessing the Diversity of Humanity Once Again
Susanna had had it up to here with their arrogance and was dead set on putting them in their place today.
She thought she'd seen her fair share of shameless folks, but the Thornberry family? They took the cake for being the most brazen and clueless bunch she'd ever met.
Today, she really got a taste of how wild people could be.
Even now, the Thornberrys were strutting around like they owned the place. She couldn't help but wonder who pumped them up with so much false confidence.
Didn't they learn anything from the Ashton family's epic crash and burn?
Right after Susanna finished talking, Kayle jumped in, "Susanna, quit messing around. You say you know Mr. Ross, but maybe you just bumped into him once. How do you even know he's at this hospital?"
"Easy. Mr. Ross just bought a gift to visit my kid here. We just ran into each other, so yeah, I know he's at this hospital."
Roman butted in, "Sure, everyone’s heard of Mr. Ross. But that doesn’t mean the broke bodyguard next to you is the president of the Abbott Group! Those are two totally different things!"
Susanna smirked, "Feeling guilty, are we? Mr. Ross and the president of the Abbott Group are tight. When he shows up, he can vouch for whether my bodyguard is the real deal."
"Guilty? Me? Nah, the ones who should be sweating bullets are you!"
"Roman, call Mr. Ross right now and ask where he is. If he's at the hospital, we'll know what's up. Easy peasy."
Susanna nodded, "Yeah, go ahead, call him. Heck, ask him to come up to this floor."
Roman whipped out his phone, "Fine, I'll call. You think I'm scared?"
He dialed the number, and soon enough, someone picked up. Roman spoke all respectful-like, "Hey, can you tell me where Mr. Ross is right now?"
"Mr. Ross's schedule is confidential. Can't share that info, sorry."
"Alright, thanks anyway."
Roman hung up and looked at Susanna with a smug grin, "Mr. Ross isn't at the hospital."
Since his schedule was hush-hush, why would he randomly show up at Metropolitan Public Hospital? Susanna had to be full of it.
Kayle, thinking she had Susanna cornered, sneered, "See, Susanna? Your lies are catching up to you. That broke bodyguard isn't the president of the Abbott Group, and you don't know Mr. Ross. You're just making stuff up to look good."
Susanna chuckled, "Why would I lie about something so petty? With the Jones family's status, knowing Mr. Ross isn't a big deal. No need to lie."
Seriously, no need at all.
The Jones family was still the top dog in Philly. Why would she need to make stuff up?
Kayle rolled her eyes, "Don't be so sure. The Thornberry family is about to team up big time with the Abbott Group. Once we join forces, will the Jones family still be top dog in Philly? So yeah, it's totally understandable if you're scared and lying through your teeth."
After Kayle finished yapping, Roman puffed up his chest and added, "Mom, you're spot on. Susanna's definitely scared. That's why she's got her bodyguard pretending to be the president of the Abbott Group. Who's buying that crap?"
"Exactly, he's just a broke bodyguard. No way he's the president of anything."
"If you back down now, it's not too late. Play nice tonight, and maybe I'll think about sparing the Jones family."
Hearing this, Susanna's fists clenched, itching to deck someone.
Next to her, Aaron saw these clowns mocking Susanna and shot back coldly, "I'll call Mr. Ross and have him come down right now."
Aaron wasn't into showing off or putting people down. In Lindwell, he didn't need to prove who he was. But here in Philly, trying to keep a low profile to get closer to Susanna and Lillian, he got mistaken for a broke bodyguard.
Aaron whipped out his phone and dialed Sam. The call connected fast. "What's up, Aaron? How's it going?"
Sam was upstairs with Lillian, playing with her, giving Aaron and Susanna some space to talk.
Aaron kept it short, "Come downstairs right now."
He didn't bother explaining and hung up.
Roman sneered, "You were just on the phone with Mr. Ross? Yeah, right."
Aaron shot back, "Yep."
"Mr. Ross's schedule is top secret, and his private number isn't just handed out. Even I can only reach him through his work phone, which his secretary manages. You say you just called him? Who's buying that?"
"Exactly, Roman called Mr. Ross's work number. Why do you think you can reach him?"
Aaron replied coolly, "I did call him."
Susanna raised an eyebrow, "Just because you can't do something doesn't mean others can't."
"Susanna, your broke bodyguard is quite the actor, huh? Didn't you just start a new film company? Maybe you should let him act. His skills might make him famous. Why pretend he's the president of the Abbott Group?"
Kayle laughed, "This is gold. That broke bodyguard says he called Mr. Ross and asked him to come down, like it's real."
"Mr. Ross is from the second wealthiest family in Lindwell. His businesses are global, just like the Jones family. No way your bodyguard called him out."
Roman looked at Susanna, "You might look decent, but you're a married woman with a kid. Mr. Ross might've met you a few times and exchanged a few words, but do you think he'd give you this kind of attention? Keep dreaming."
Susanna stared back at Roman, "Whether it's acting or dreaming, the truth will be clear when Mr. Ross comes down."
"Fine, I'll wait and see. When the person shows up, let's see if it's Mr. Ross. But Susanna, if your broke bodyguard is lying, shouldn't you pay a price?" Roman leered at her.
"When Mr. Ross comes down, you'll know who should pay the price."
