Chapter 313 Only Kids Wet the Bed
Aaron woke up to a funky smell in the room and felt something wet on the bed. Just thinking about it made him wanna wash his hands a million times.
Lillian pouted. "It wasn't me! It was that jerk who wet the bed and blamed it on me."
Sam, standing nearby, laughed, "Lillian, grown-ups don't wet the bed, only kids do. Out of the three of us, you're the only kid. Stop denying it!"
"I'm a grown-up too, not a kid," Lillian shot back, but you could see she was a bit shy. She tried to cover the wet spot on the bed with a small blanket, hoping no one would notice.
Sam yanked the blanket away. "Lillian, don't hide it. You slept in the middle last night, and the wet spot is in the middle. If it wasn't you, then who?"
"It wasn't me, I swear!" Lillian insisted.
"You're a kid. If it wasn't you, then who?"
"I'm a grown-up now, not a kid. I stopped wetting the bed when I was three."
"How old are you now?"
"Four!" Lillian was getting anxious, clutching the blanket tight, her face turning red.
Sam burst out laughing, "See, if you're four, then you're still a kid!"
"Four is not a kid anymore." Lillian raised her voice, trying hard to prove she wasn't a kid.
Aaron rubbed his temples and thought, 'Kids are such a pain!'
Just then, Tyler walked in with some kids' clothes. "Mr. Abbott, the clothes are here."
Aaron looked at Lillian and said, "Go take a bath and change into clean clothes."
Lillian, a bit embarrassed, climbed down from the bed, her feet not even reaching the floor. She swung her little feet in the air a few times before touching the ground.
Aaron couldn't take it anymore and lifted Lillian off the bed.
Sam raised an eyebrow, "Lillian, can you bathe yourself?"
"I can bathe myself." Lillian grabbed the clothes and ran to the bathroom.
Sam cracked up, holding his stomach from laughing so hard. "Aaron, she is just too funny."
Aaron shot him a cold look. "Didn't you notice your clothes are dirty too, and you're still laughing?"
Sam jumped up from the bed and stared at Aaron. "Hold up, are you pointing fingers at me while your shirt is even filthier than mine? Looks like Lillian's little accident happened right next to you!"
Aaron's face darkened as he quickly took off his shirt, revealing light yellow stains he hadn't noticed before.
Sam teased, "Aaron, this means Lillian likes you more. These are signs of affection."
"Shut up." Aaron tossed the shirt on the floor and looked out the window. "The rain seems to have let up. Is the airport open yet?"
"Not yet. Looks like this storm's gonna stick around for a few more days."
Aaron massaged his temples, realizing that Lillian might be stuck in Radiant Valley for a while. Sam spoke up, "Aaron, the auction is this afternoon. What about Lillian?"
"She's here to see you. You should be asking yourself." Aaron was just as clueless!
After a bit, Lillian came out of the bathroom, hopping and skipping towards him.
Aaron saw a flash of pale yellow as she got closer.
Lillian was wearing pale yellow overalls and a little hat. She stood in front of him and covered her face with her small hands. "Uncle Aaron , you're not wearing a shirt!"
Aaron was caught off guard for a sec. Quickly grabbing a bathrobe, he threw it on and looked down at her. "The rain's not letting up. You won't be able to leave Radiant Valley today," he said seriously.
"Oh, I see. So, people outside can't come in either?" Lillian thought about how Susanna couldn't come either and felt relieved. At least she wouldn't get hit by Susanna for now.
She looked up. "Aaron, can you let me stay one more day? My mommy will pay you."
Aaron couldn't help but pinch her chubby little cheeks. "I got some stuff to handle later. Stay in the room and behave. If you want to eat something, have the hotel bring it. Don't run around."
"Aaron, can I come with you? I promise I'll be good," Lillian pleaded.
"No," Aaron shot her down. The casino was no place for a kid.
Lillian's eyes lit up. "Can I go to the amusement park then?" she asked, all excited.
"Okay." Aaron took a stack of cash from his wallet and stuffed it in her small backpack. "Buy whatever you like, but you gotta take a bodyguard to the amusement park! Don't run around!" he warned, his tone firm but kinda soft.
Hugging her small backpack tightly, Lillian suddenly had a realization. She pulled out her smartwatch and frowned. "It's out of battery," she mumbled.
Aaron glanced at it and then turned to Tyler. "Charge it for her."
Tyler immediately brought a charger. Lillian sat obediently by the smartwatch, her little feet swinging in her pale yellow overalls.
"Aaron!"
Just then, Vivian walked in. When she saw Lillian on the sofa, she looked surprised, "Whose kid is this?" she asked.
'Why does this kid look so much like Susanna?' Vivian thought to herself.
Aaron looked at Sam. "You explain."
Sam coughed and said, "She might be my daughter."
Vivian was even more confused. The kid looked so much like Susanna. How could she be Sam's daughter? She looked more like Aaron's kid.
Baffled, Vivian asked, "Sam, is she really your daughter? She doesn't look like you. How come I've never heard you mention her before?"
"Not just you, I only found out recently," Sam replied helplessly.
"Sam, are you sure you haven't been tricked?"
Lillian heard this and looked up at Vivian, angrily saying, "You're the trickster!"
Vivian frowned. "Why are you so rude? Where are your parents?"
"Not telling you!" Lillian declared defiantly, her voice filled with anger as she turned her back on everyone, refusing to engage further.
Sam, knowing Lillian's fiery temper, called out, "Lillian, we're gonna be busy. Don't run around."
With a nod to each other, Aaron and Sam left the room, leaving behind a confused Vivian who hurriedly followed them. "Are you both seriously gonna leave Lillian on her own? Where are you going?" Vivian asked.
Sam glanced at Vivian and explained, "Vivian, we're heading to the casino in the basement. Can you keep an eye on Lillian and make sure she doesn't run around?"
Vivian hesitated for a moment. "I don't even know her."
Aaron stepped in, giving her a reassuring look. "You have experience with kids, Vivian."
"Yeah, Vivian, Lillian is about the same age as your son. Just help us out. Once the airport reopens, we can send Lillian back," Sam added.
Reluctantly, Vivian agreed to help. With a slight tremor in her voice, she asked, "Sam, is Lillian really your daughter?"
