Chapter 453 Please Prove Your Identity as the CEO

Susanna was about ready to blow a gasket. She'd never been this ticked off at anyone in her whole life.

After what felt like forever, she was still waiting.

Seriously, where the heck was Sam?

Kayle, with that annoying smirk, chimed in, "Susanna, your so-called bodyguard said Mr. Ross would be here soon. So, where is he? Why's he still MIA?"

"Susanna, don't tell me Mr. Ross is a no-show. Just admit you messed up, and I won't hold it against you. I won't go blabbing about your bodyguard pretending to be the CEO of Abbott Group."

Susanna shot Roman a look of pure disdain. "Admit I'm wrong? Not a chance."

Kayle jumped in, "If you're so sure and won't admit you're wrong, then where's Mr. Ross? None of us have seen him. Doesn't that prove you're full of it?"

Kayle's lackey piped up, "Maybe they're scared their lie's gonna get busted and are making excuses."

"Yeah, that's totally possible. Just wait and see."

Kayle and his lackey looked way too pleased with themselves.

Susanna's mouth twitched. These people were seriously shameless. The more smug they were now, the harder they'd fall later.

But she was curious too. It should've only taken Sam a few minutes to come down from upstairs. What was the holdup?

At such a crucial moment, if Sam didn't show, how was she gonna put these jerks in their place?

She couldn't stand the Thornberry family's arrogance and was itching to teach them a lesson today.

Susanna shot Aaron a look, signaling him.

Aaron whipped out his phone and called Sam again, "Dude, where are you? Why aren't you down here yet?"

"I'm in the elevator. Had to take a call for some work stuff."

Just as he said that, Sam walked out of the elevator.

Seeing Sam, Susanna let out a sigh of relief and turned to Roman and Kayle. "Now do you believe it?"

Sam was finally here. With him around, Aaron's identity would be clear as day.

Sam walked over, looking confused. "What's the deal? Why'd you call me down here in such a hurry? Something big going on?"

"Yeah, something big. We need you to clear this up."

Susanna glanced at Sam. "Someone's doubting Aaron's identity, thinking he's just my bodyguard and not the president of Abbott Group. We need you to set them straight."

Sam looked genuinely surprised. "I can't believe someone actually doubts Aaron's identity. He was untouchable in Lindwell. Seeing this in Philly is wild."

Sam wanted to say Aaron had it coming, but he didn't want to risk Aaron's wrath, so he kept his mouth shut.

Susanna turned to Roman and Kayle. "Now do you believe he's Aaron?"

Kayle looked confused and nervously asked, "Roman, is this guy really Mr. Ross?"

Kayle was trying to figure out if this so-called bodyguard was really the CEO of the Abbott Group, but something just didn't sit right with her. Roman suddenly burst out laughing, "Mom, what are you even talking about? He's not the president of the Abbott Group. Susanna, your lie's been busted."

Susanna blinked, confused. "What do you mean? Can't Sam prove Aaron's identity?"

"Sam? You think this guy's Sam? What a joke! I've met Mr. Ross. This dude ain't him."

Susanna and Sam exchanged a quick, puzzled glance.

Sam pointed to himself, "If I'm not Sam, then who am I?"

"Quit the act. I know you're just some actor Susanna hired. Maybe you're her bodyguard too, pretending to be Mr. Ross to back up this other bodyguard. But guess what? I've met the real Mr. Ross."

Susanna was momentarily speechless.

She hadn't expected Roman to have met Sam, but the guy he met must've been a fake.

Now she was starting to think someone was impersonating both Aaron and Sam.

Sam was baffled. "You think I'm a bodyguard? How could I be a bodyguard? I'm not like..." He almost said Aaron needed to be a bodyguard to get close to Susanna but bit his tongue.

Kayle jumped in, "Stop pretending. It's obvious you're here to act. You call yourself Sam? Do you even know who Sam is? He's the heir to the second wealthiest family in Lindwell, the Ross family. How could he be a bodyguard like you?"

Sam's eyebrows shot up. Second wealthiest family in Lindwell, the Ross family?

Since when were they second? Who made that list?

He looked at Susanna, totally puzzled.

Susanna sighed, "It's a long story. I thought you showing up would prove Aaron's identity, but I didn't expect them not to recognize you."

Roman cut in, "Susanna, stop with the nonsense. The Thornberry family is about to partner with the Abbott family. How could I not know them? You had someone impersonate Mr. Abbott and Mr. Ross to save face. Now that I've exposed you, you're mad and saying I don't know them."

"Exactly, Roman. Susanna's just playing dumb."

Sam turned to Susanna, "Honestly, you don't need to prove Aaron's identity to these idiots. Don't you think it's a waste of brain cells?"

Susanna was quiet for a moment. "You're right. I've realized that now."

What was she even trying to prove earlier? Why did she need to validate Aaron's identity to the Thornberry family? She felt like she'd been led down a rabbit hole.

Susanna even felt like her IQ had taken a hit dealing with them.

Kayle, still smug, said, "So, Susanna, you know you're wrong now, right? Can't come up with a reason, can you?"

Susanna nodded, "Yeah, you win. I lose, okay?"

"Susanna, you can't prove the bodyguard's identity, so you gotta admit defeat."

Just as she finished, Aaron, who'd been silent the whole time, finally spoke up, "Wait a second, I can prove myself!"
